Secret Avengers - Part 1

It was indeed. I like how Beast laid down the law with Clint. Clint's really been a toolbox as leader so far.

It was indeed a good issue, I quite like the team. Too bad about the ending.

Good issue.

Clint didn't even treat the Thunderbolts as harsh as he treats the Secret Avengers.
Still, dude built a sentient robot that killed a country. Mind you, I'm a big Pym fan, but that did happen. The whole "endless guilt" thing stemming from that is part of what makes him a compelling character.

Meh I don't really buy into it being Pyms fault. He built a sentient robot he had no idea it would end up a killer robot.

Its like blaming Hiroshima on Scientist Baron Ernest Rutherford because he was the first to split the atom which lead to the creation of the nuclear bomb.

The robot Salvation-1 he built to attack the Avengers at his court-martial was intentional though.

That one was during his crazy Yellowjacket phase. Dude was in denial that he even was Hank Pym. He f***ed up, yeah, but that particular f***-up was just one small part of a much larger and far-reaching f***-up by his then-crazy brain.

Missed last months issue, so didnt see the conclusion to the Clint led arc. Picked up the new one today and Beast is drawn as his old Ape self throughout (not just the Dark Phoenix dream sequence). Did something happen, or is this just the artist not bothering to keep the look up to date and the editors being okay with it?

He's drawn with his ape look in Legacy today as well. Its an artist blunder. He should still be feline.

F*** that, I hope all artists pick up on this and just draw the true blue ape-ish Beast again. :awesome:

It wouldnt be the first time. It reminds me of someone accidentally drawing Magma flying and now everyone does it even though she's not supposed to be a female Human Torch

Evolution's gotta happen somehow, and if the writers aren't gonna do it, might as well be the artists.

Is it true Vengeance is in this comic now? And that he's green flamed?

He was only in the point 1 issue and runs with the Shadow Council now. He was green but I don't know enough about the guy to know if it's that big a deal.

Because of AvX, Remender's big plans are put to hold in favor for the event. Patience is virtue.

I was surprised they put Thor's Phoenix-bashing mission in Secret Avengers.

A separate mini-series. I agree that this is the best place of the available ongoings for it, but it's not really the Secret Avengers going on that mission. It's most of them, minus their new leader and plus a couple different characters.

I think Marvel learned its lesson from past events which got a bit convoluted with the multiple tie in mini series. HoM was one of the worst offenders. I like how they are handling this one by having one main series and only one mini with the ongoings being used to flesh out the events of the main series. Makes things a bit easier on the wallet for readers and keeps things as simplified as possible.

It makes sense in context with the story as well. The Avengers feel the entire world is at jeopardy. At a time like this, they are going to all band together and delegate responsiblities based on each others abilties and expertise. Cap's not going to be like I'll leave the Secret Avengers out of this bc they are doing their own thing. This team was hand picked bc they are among the most powerful and best equipped to survive in space (and Beast bc of his history with the PF)

Hey at least this is actually featuring Avengers though. The last two New Avengers didnt feature a single member of ANY of the teams

Ugh, I know. I've completely lost interest in the K'un L'un stuff, too. I'll be dropping NA (again) as of the next issue if Danny, at least, isn't involved.

I find it an atrocity that Iron Fist is featured on the cover with Hope as if to say he spends most of the issue tracking her down and protecting her. Inside the book it was all flashback crap. That's why Marvel won't get any of my money for this book.

IA. This Fongji/Iron Fist flashback stuff should have been a subplot in the book in the months leading up to AvX.
