how did you like TRAIN DREAMS?

I liked it. The performances and visuals were very very good, and the major incident eating at Robert's core is very effective, so is the inciting one, but I didn't really like the reliance on and execution of the editing as the film moved forward. That and the visuals are pushing us and I feel the visuals did most of the heavy lifting there. That quick, staccato motif in the editing for his dream-state felt directorially trite and the ending hammered itself home a little too much for me. It became platitudinous after awhile.

And It felt like they had that ending of going into the city planned but didn't really know how to get to it organically. I enjoyed that juxtaposition from forests and farms to a theater, office buildings and a mirror as a standalone moment though.

I may have enjoyed it more overall if they cut some of the narration.

A solid, gritty Swedish crime film. It was an interesting watch for sure especially seeing a young Joel Kinnaman actually speaking his native language and I still can't believe this is from the same director that would go on to do Safe House, Life and Morbius. The guy definitely has talent but should definitely stick to doing more films like this instead.

A solid action packed sequel and I actually think I slightly prefer it over the original because of the tighter pacing and the more satisfying ending.

A decent enough ending for this trilogy but I get why its considered the weakest by most fans especially if your a fan of Kinnaman's character who is mostly sidelined in this. It honestly felt like he had 10 minutes of total screentime in this which was pretty disappointing not to mention rushed and anticlimactic.

This first episode of the series is pretty good for the most part , but the third act definitely drags , and but as the season goes on , the writing becomes tighter in the third acts of these episodes.

In this first episode of the series , Kolchak is on the case of a serial killer called " The Ripper" gripping Chicago .
While local officials and the rest of the media think that this Ripper is merely a copy cat , Kolchak believes that this is indeed the real Jack The Ripper , who is a supernatural demon .

However, despite The Ripper's superhuman strength and agility , no one , including Kolchak's boss, believes the killer is the real Jack The Ripper.

The episode isn't exactly PC by todays standards ,and their are some double entendres which are quite funny.

The fighting stunt work is actually pretty good, and The Ripper's speed and agility is demonstrated pretty well for a TV Budget .

Darren McGavin, as usual , is hysterical as he hussles his way from situation to situation trying to get to the bottom of this bizarre series of slayings .

So, for a first episode, it's pretty good , even if it's not as tight as future episodes, this first season .

Airing September 13, 1974 in the top ten was a song by Andy Kim

La Femme Flic/The Woman Cop (1980)

A French police drama starring French actress star Miou Miou. The title may sound a bit silly today, however this film clearly stresses how a young ambitious female police inspector still had some serious barriers to go through back then (here supposedly in France). And especially since this particular case gets controversial pretty quick, and deals with pedohilia cases.

This is of course not some action filled cop action, but rather a typical European drama from late 70s/early 80s which happended to take place within a police environtment and themes, hence obviously a different pacing compared to usual Hollywood cop action stuff of today (I remember one but a very short shootout during the film).

I've always heard about Miou Miou during the 70s and 80s grewing up, but this was actually my first real experience watching her. This is a slow yet tensionend drama over all. The acting might be a bit all over the place here IMHO, but Miou Miou together with the concept/premise held this up for me, especially considering the whole pedohilia theme which felt pretty progressive for its time.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High (1982)

I **** you not, but for some reason this is honestly the first time I've watched this flick. I.. might've seen some infamous pics during my 30 years of internet (bad, bad internet!).

Seriously though, I remember watching Porky's (1981) at the cinema as a 15-16yo, which would never ever get released today consdidering.. lots of issues (but of course us kids loved it, and rented some crappy sequel as well). Quite weird today when you think about it. FTARH would be considered the very same today. But for some reason it has been classified as some early 80s high school classic flick.

I just guess everybody loved young Sean Penn as the stoner surfer dude who ordered pizza at his class etc. I'd probably loved that too at that age in early 80s. And of course I probably would have a crush on Pheobe Cates and Jennifer Jason Leigh back then.

And I guess that's what it took back then for being an American early 80s high school classic flick just like Porky's. However, we would see just a few years later other high school drama classics like Breakfest Club and others which I consider better, and with less issues.

My all time favourite American high school flick will always be a movie set in the 70s, but made in 1993: Dazed and Confused. And by then I was already old as ****, like 27 or something. Lol.

I wasn't even aware they made three films lol. I've watched the first one only. The books these are adapted from were a huge sucess though, I've read two of them. The author Jens Lapidus (who is a lawyer as well) got quite famous and are is now frequenting tv every now and then over here. I need to see these sequels.

THE BRADY BUNCH GO TO HAWAII ( 1972)

While there are alot of films and tv shows I missed having been born too late, one of the shows that was always in reruns during the 80s and 90s was The Brady Bunch .

Even though the show had been off the air a decade by the time I started watching it , it was as much apart of my generations childhood as Punky Brewster or Family Ties , in the 80s.

While I've seen alot of the episodes , the episodes which I found very eerie were the Hawaii episodes , in which the Family is subject to a series of weird incidents after Bobby Brady discovers a Tabu Idol which bring bad luck to those who dare wear it .

The misadventure plays out over the first three episodes of season 4 : Hawaii Bound, Pass The Tabu, and The Tiki Caves.

The Legendary Vincent Price, appears towards the end of Pass The Tabu, and takes center stage in The The Tiki Caves.

The three parter is mostly Greg, Peter, and Bobby's adventures, with Marsha, Jan, and Cindy, actually playing pretty minor roles , surprisingly.

Robert Reed's Mike Brady, as always, plays the grounded and stalwart Patriarch of the clan , while Florence Henderson's Carol's smile ,and humor, always has a way of teasing Mike and winking at the audience.

The jokes are actually pretty witty and funny , and it's great to see Vincent Price chewing up the scenery in the way he did for decades in Hollywood films.

It was a pretty entertaining three parter .

When Hawaii Bound aired on September 22, 1972, the top ten included a Song about a girl named Brandy , by The Looking Glass

When Pass The Tabu aired September 29, 1972, In the top ten was a signature song by The Main Ingredient .

When The Tiki Caves aired on October 6th 1972 , as song by The Rasberries was in the top ten .
