Official Young Avengers Discussion Thread - Part 1

While I also get frustrated at the lack of use for the Young Avengers, I don't feel this series came even close to utilizing them properly. The book didn't feel like Young Avengers save for Hulkling and Wiccan. Kate's in it but hasn't really felt like she's been written properly. Then you throw in 4 more characters that have nothing (or very little) to do with the Young Avengers and have them be major focuses.

I'm actually kinda glad this is ending so that this iteration of the team doesn't stick (I hope). I'd rather the Young Avengers be more Young Avengery, or split up the team to other young teams. Young Avengers mostly in just name alone was more annoying to me than anything.

That said, I did like Prodigy with them and was curious how that would have played out. I'd love to see some sort of Young Avengers/New X-Men mixture happen.

I've not realized until now how many gay young characters Marvel has.

The title already has Wiccan, Hulkling, and Prodigy (who is bi).

Then maybe I misread it, but I think it was hinted that Ms. America was gay in this issue as well.

And then just looking at that first page there's Anole, Bling, Stryker, Lightspeed, and Karolina Dean.

I apparently hadn't been keeping track.

And in addition to all that, Bendis revealed this week that [blackout]Benjamin Deeds over in Uncanny X-Men[/blackout] is gay as well.

I don't think Ms America is gay.. though i haven't read this weeks issue yet.

But her Mom's are obviously.

I've still not been able to figure out who the two guys are between Karolina and Mercury are on that page.

The blonde guy is Alex Powers isn't he? The other one... I don't know. Maybe Blackbolt's son or the other Power Pack guy... Jack I think.

It's not Jack Power. He always had brown hair, and I don't think he'd be as old as that guy looks. Probably Black Bolt's son, if Black Bolt has a son. I wasn't even aware of that. His clothing looks similar to Maximus'.

I just really, really need Miss America to wind up in good hands after Young Avengers ends. I love her.

She gives no real impression to me, but she's grown on me enough to be alright if she sticks around with the team for future writers to use.

Personally, I hope Marvel Boy officially leaves. That'd then take the team down to Kate Bishop, Wiccan, Hulkling, Speed, Prodigy, and Ms. America. That starts making it feel more like the Young Avengers that I've loved through the years. Two newbies and four classic members. If Patriot rejoined, I'd be perfectly happy.

Yeah, Loki is what felt out of place in this series. I'd be glad to see Noh Varr leave too. I really just want them to find Tommy
