Secret Avengers - Part 1

Yes, i loved the Agent Moon Knight pimp costume, it was fantastic.

Max is good, but I can't help feeling he'll lose some of his impact going up against a team that will no longer include Cap. Maybe Nick or Cap or both will guest-star for that arc, though. Plus, Black Widow's still there and she has strong ties to the real Nick, I guess.

Arthur Adams' covers are pretty darn awesome.

And apparently Lady Deathstrike. So who do you guys think the Avenger who dies will be? Can I pull for Eric O'Grady? Dude hasn't been interesting in a while anyway.

I have a feeling it's Mockingbird. Bendis teased it in New Avengers months back. It would affect Hawkeye as per the SA preview and push him to take it to the next level with Spider-Woman as the Avengers solicts indicate. Personally, I think the Clint/Jessica thing is forced and boring.

What are those? Vision/Jocasta/Ultron hybrids?

Basically the 1st arc deals alot about the whole Androids in Marvel universe, and hence Jim Hammond plays a key essantial role as he is one of the very 1st Androids out there and whatonot. Thats what the "
• Father And His Descendants Begin Their Plans To Spread Contagious Robot Evolution!"

Talks about.

Marvel has been hyping Remender's Secret Avengers by revealing members of the New Masters of Evil.

Whiplash!

Princess Python!

Vengeance!

I distinctly remember in DARK REIGN: YOUNG ALLIES, that Princess Python's son was the new Executioner, and he saw himself as the next Punisher. When he found out his mom was a crook, her blew her up with a car bomb. I guess she, uh, survived somehow. Will Remender even explain it? Nobody cares when it comes to those D-Listers sometimes.

Preview for Rick Remender's Secret Avengers! #21.1!
prv10865_pg2.jpg

Critically acclaimed writer Rick Remender kicks his explosive run on Secret Avengers in style in Secret Avengers #21.1! Joined by superstar artist Patrick Zircher, Remender sends Captain America’s covert strike force into the belly of the beast as he and Hawkeye uncover a huge threat to the Marvel Universe. The two must break into Red Light Nation, a country run by criminals FOR criminals, to stop an evil plot from breaching the border…headed up by an all-new Masters of Evil?! No fan can miss this perfect jumping on point as Remender and Zircher take the Secret Avengers on action packed thrill ride uncovering the dark underbelly of the Marvel Universe. It all begins next month in Secret Avengers #21.1!

It'll be gone after the DVD of the movie has been out a while.
(btw, seriously, everyone click the link on my sig and vote for me in the hype deathmatch, as i'm down a vote with a few hours to go)

Secret Avengers...look i missed it...try to read it.

That Hawkeye costume is so friggin lame.
As much as I hate Hitch's "put a leather texture and ribbing on everything!" take on costuming, the new Hawkeye costume does actually look a lot better with those touches than it does when people draw it like a simple black shirt with a purple V on the chest. Lesser of two evils and all. :csad:

Everyone just remember that he's had worse in the past. I can't even find a picture of it, but he had that awful miniskirt in the 70s.

He also had a v-neck, and as I recall, a tiara.

I just wish the current costume had some remnant of his classic look. A bit of chainmail or some of those straps with the little squares on them or something.

Rick Remender & Gabriel Hardman on Secret Avengers

Regarding the #21.1 which serves as an introduction to Rick's run
The Point One issue of "Secret Avengers" will be a stand-alone issue featuring the Masters of Evil. "While it's a big, fast covert-ops spy-fi 20-page romp, it's hard to force yourself to try and define the characters and their relationships when you already know them," said Remender. "I wanted to reestablish that here for people that might not be clear on where these guys stand and their dynamic. It's got real velocity. While it's a big, fast, action story it also defines this complex relationship and dynamic."

Brevoort also said the Point One issue serves as a platform to introduce Hawkeye to "Secret Avengers," where he'll be serving as leader.

"In Cap's eyes, it's his basic skill set. In Clint's eyes, he's a direct approach sort of guy," said Remender. "He's never been a fan of spy work or creeping around in the shadows, but I think that Cap can see if he can use his skill set, an archer can be silent and deadly, playing the role of the cover sniper. An archer's skillset and powerset actually works really well in covert work. I think Cap would vote Clint in most cases, but he's a little concerned about his temper. The Point One issue also sees Cap sniffing around how well Clint can keep his cool in tense spy situations. Other than that, I think Clint's got leadership abilities. He's run West Coast and the Thunderbolts. He's been around for a while. Clint definitely thinks that he's Cap's equal, he's not his subordinate. That definitely plays a role in his dynamic."

I love the idea that the Masters of Evil have their own sovereign country, it reminds me of an old Aquaman story where Aquaman, Batman and Green Lantern infiltrate a country (or maybeit was just a city) ruled by Cobra, that had such a cool James Bond feel to it. <3

Regarding the 1st major arc:
"The Point One gives us a taste of the new Masters of Evil," Remender said. "The big launch is 'The Descendants,' and the story is based around a guy named Father who had a hand in creating automatons. These Descendants are the descendents of all the robots in the Marvel Universe." Fans of "Uncanny X-Force" will recognize the threat from that book, but Remender says the robots will not be the primary enemy for the Secret Avengers. "The threat itself is much bigger and I've been working on it for some time now."

"The first species we come into contact with are the Adaptoids." The Adaptoids are derived from the Super Adaptoid and it's something that both Remender and Hardman have worked hard to design.

In terms of The Descendants, Remender didn't reveal much more about their role in his upcoming arc, but he did tease a bit about their expanded role. "Moving forward, I don't want to give away too much, but the Descendants to me, we've cooked up where every cool robot in the Marvel Universe has a Descendant," he said. "It's definitely something that's going to be a problem for the Marvel Universe going forward. This isn't something that can be swept under the rug. It may be derived from a Doom Bot, but these are things that have opinions. ... The seeds of this were planted in 'X-Force' and I've been writing notes ever since. This was a prime opportunity to dip some Avengers into this. Characters like the Adaptoid, I want to reimagine these guys for Sentinels for Avengers. The Descendants want to be allowed to exist and when you go around the Core, there are billboards all around with Avengers and the text, 'Remember what they did to the Mutants.'"

In terms of possible X-Men interaction, Remender neither confirmed nor denied they would appear with The Descendants. "They do have a hatred of mutants because they were evolved from Sentinels," he said. "There are a lot more Descendants than there are mutants at this point.

Also 1 bad news: This title WILL have tie-in issues for the upcoming Avengers vs. X-Men, gaaargh. The only optimistic side i can see here is if it's Secret Avengers vs. Uncanny X-Force and Rick doesn't have to bend his writing due to the event writers, grrrrr. Also War Machine will be part of the 2nd arc, but Moon Knight seems to be losing his Avengers status due to his mental health issues.

Thats a bit of a Wanker thing that Hawkeye does to Brian, he should have punched him through the wall for that.....:oldrazz:
I love that Captain Britain is on a top team now, awesome! I liked his last MI-13 costume better because im not keen on the Alan Davis boots, but ive always liked his helmet so it would have been interesting to team the helmet with the MI-13 costume....oh well.

By God! Everything about this book sounds and looks great. Both previews look killer and nice to see some already potential tension between Clint and CB. Too bad it's looking like MK might not be a member anymore.

My pull list is going to look like this soon:

Batman
Nightwing
Daredevil
Secret Avengers
Winter Soldier

Hardman's such a perfect artist for this. I like that he's got Beast in more practical-looking gear, too. You've gotta figure, Beast's a techie at heart so he's probably gonna want to have lots of gadgets on him and, unlike Pym, he can't shrink his down to the size of one of his costume's threads.

I'm really looking forward to this title potentially not sucking soon. :)

Pretty good issue. Loved Pym, Beast, Hawkeye and Captain Britain.

Does Captain Britain still fire energy blasts?

You can tell Remender is having a ball writing Beast. He hasn't been this much fun in a while. If this were still Brubaker's SA, he'd just be sitting in a corner tapping away at a keyboard and barfing technobabble every now and then.

I don't think Captain Britain does energy blasts anymore. In CB&MI-13, he just had flight and super-strength. But he also didn't have a Captain Britain Corps or his old costume back then, so maybe he's completely reverted to the powers of the old costume. Who knows?
