I felt like such a horrible fan. I didnt catch on to the name until the end when the guy said "Just call us S.H.I.E.L.D" and my jaw dropped and I smacked myself in the forehead.

Same here. Completely took me by surprise.

Anybody else get the feeling that SHIELD will be the glue that holds the entire Marvel movie-verse together? Like, even when there are no character crossovers, SHIELD will always be in these movies in some way? I kinda hope that's what they're doing.

Yeah i didnt catch on til the third time. I think mostly because i wasnt paying attention to the name. Then i realized what this long name stands for. Well i think with the next few marvel movies, they are trying to gear it towards the avengers movies. So i doubt we would see shield presence in say a spiderman 4 movie unless it was done by marvel studios.

IMO, they should've gone for a more military, classic SHIELD uniform type look rather than thier "Agent Smith" look.

That special agent just gave me the creeps every time he showed up... He kind of reminded me of Mathezar in that movie Galaxy Quest - the alien guy that said " You-are-our-last-hope". Always creeping up on Pepper or Tony in the most inopportune times out of nowhere. And what the hell was so important that he needed to stalk them so frequently? We never really did find out what was so important that he had to say, other than him needing to debrief Tony.. But on what? If it was as simple as what Nick Fury had to say at the end credits, then this guy's screen time could have been cut down to one quarter.

yeah, the whole time i was thinking he was yet another bad guy. an annoying obstacle in the way of the grand scheme of things. a speed bump on the road to victory. a defensive lineman in my way.
