Shameless

Hi,

As far as I am concerned, the British accent ( on some TV shows ) is hard to handle in the long run, I gave up on Misfit about it. I wouldn't mind a US version.
Being Human UK is better than the US version but I watch both.

You gave up on a show because you didn't like the characters' accents?

You gave up on a show because you didn't like the characters' accents?

When it gets to a point where you can't understand them, and even when it comes to british accents, is he suppose to just tolerate it for the sake of authenticity?

They're really not hard to understand IMO.

Anyway, I'm fully caught up on Shameless and it's now one of my favorite shows currently airing.

I don't mind british accents at all. But some of them are hard to understand sometimes, that's just a fact and Im sure that pendulum swings in both directions too

Favourite new show. Kinda pissed that there's only two episodes left for this season.

one now...

looks like next weeks is going to be interesting...

EDIT- who's the new girl? looks like Amy Smart...but isn't, & IMDB doesn't have anyone listed for her character....

Was wondering how long till Frank's benefit fraud would catch up with him...

LOL @ looks like Amy Smart.

The shows been great and it's quickly become my favorite new show, easily surpassing Boardwalk Empire.

man.... i'm generally rather good at working out who's who... rather irritated i didn't get that...

Haha it's cool man it happens. I'm usually pretty good at it too, actually got into an argument with a friend while watching Empire Records the other day and I was convince the blonde ****ty chick was Joey Lauren Adams and yea, it was so a young Renee Zellweger. Lmao I couldn't believe I was wrong at first either so you exhibit more humility than I do lol

what i tend to do is spot someone and be able to list a whole load of things they've been in... but never remember their name LOL

i have to admit, Smart's character and what they're hinting at kinda came outta nowhere...

not that i'm complaining they're hinting at a possible hook up between Amy Smart and Emmy Rossum mind you LMAO!

See I can usually see the face, name them, and what else they were in and who else was in it. Most of the time no matter how small a character they play. I like Smart's character but it's just like DAMN GIRL come on! You can show them ******* in Road Trip but you aint gonna get topless along with Emmy Rossum! Boo too Amy Smart! Way to commit to your craft!

saving them for later i hope LOL...

The finale was good, except it didn't really feel like a finale. I'm just glad they didn't have Fiona leave, as I've heard both Steve and her do in the British version.

Great end to an AMAZING first season I think Steve will be back. Now time for Nurse Jackie and United States of Tara.

I'm with WalkingDeadMike. It had all the elements that set up for some nice cliffhangers (like having Lip go to jail or the question whether or not Fiona was gonna leave with Steve) but I'm content with the way it ended. Pretty sad. Sucks for Steve and sucks Karen's dad took the swan dive. This was the second time I honestly felt sorry for Frank since the episode where he wanted to be sober. He actually sounded sincere. Lip should've forgave him (or maybe he did, I was confused with the piss scene).

But I'm eager to see where season 2 heads. Never saw the British version which I think is a good thing cause now I won't be trying the compare stories.

I don't feel bad for Frank at all. I love the character but as a human being he's a piece of ****. The way he kept trying to justify and rationalize screwing Karen, just pathetic. Also, I feel really bad for Karen's dad. I love the relationship between Karen and Lip but I can't sympathize with her. Everything that's happened she has brought on herself all just trying to get attention. As for Steve/Jimmy, he'll be back. It's pretty obvious especially considering that Debbie knows his secret and Fiona still doesn't know. Can't wait for season 2!

Wow, the last four episodes were amazing. They did a really good job of pulling you in with the returning mother. Frank isn't the worst parent in the world, after all! I cheered when they sent her on her way in tears. Also, they made me go from really sympathizing with Karen after her dad called her a ****e to creeping me the crap out n the last few episodes.

Anyway, my thoughts on the finale:

-Frank doesn't deserve any sympathy. If he is sober enough to get it up, he's sober enough to walk away. He even admitted to having some knowledge of what he was doing when he complimented (profusely) Karen in the bathroom. Getting a small beat down from his son and then pissed on was getting off light.

-I didn't for a second think Fiona was going with Steve. It's for the best for them anyway. She would have felt guilty for leaving and grown to resent Steve before coming home two weeks later. Now, they can get back together when he returns sometime late in season 2, depending what she is doing and how the whole "Jimmy thing" goes over.

-I actually felt sorry for Karen's dad. He was a terrible father, but being so publicly ruined and committing suicide was a depressing as his clown fetish. But on a show this cynical, you can't focus on that stuff for too long.

-Amy Smart is not a very good actress. But I'm intrigued where that subplot is going, because Fiona hanging out with the middle class does not look like it will last long.

-They're continuing the Big Love crossover? Woot! ;) Hey now that that great show is gone, it's nice to see it still effecting premium cable in some way.

Is the next season only gonna air next year? That's a long ****ing wait for a show this good.

never seen Big Love... so what was the X-over?

Smart's character is strange... she seems at least Bisexual and definitely into Fiona... but it's as though they're already ****ing.... she's too familiar with how she acts ...

also confused on the pissing scene... was that Lip's way of saying i forgive you.... or what?

I'd say he was just pissed off at Frank and started pissing on him lmao That scene had me on the floor rolling! As for the Big Love "cross-over" I'm assuming people are talking about similarities between the scene where Karen's dad killed himself and a scene in a recent ep of Big Love when a portly white man was attacked and left for dead in one of the ice fishing shacks (no idea wtf they are called.) That's the only correlation I can think of at least

also confused on the pissing scene... was that Lip's way of saying i forgive you.... or what?

I don't think so, but I think Frank was hoping that if he just stood there and took it that it would be easier for Lip to forgive him.

Season 2 Tidbits from SDCC '11 Panel

Bullet List Highlights:

- Justin Chatwin (last seen in the finale boarding a plane and flying off from Chicago) will return in season two, although the when and how was not explicated.

- On Fiona’s attempts to get over Steve and the recent casting of James Wolk (Lonestar) as a new suitor for her, Macy commented on advice once given to him by his wife: “The only way to get over someone is to get under someone.”

- Joan Cusack and Amy Smart will both return in guest star capacity as Sheila Jackson and Jasmine respectively for the new season.

- Chloe Webb as Monica Gallagher will more than likely return for the latter part of season two.

- Season Two will take place during the summer vs. the winter of the first. This was mostly spurred by the fact Chicago is really cold during the winter and production didn’t want to deal with the sub-temperatures for the new season.

- While the American version of season one was fairly close to that of the U.K. original story-wise, season two will radically shift form its British counterpart in no small part due to the fact Fiona and Steve both left the U.K show at the end of the second season, something which the U.S. edition will not repeat.

- Wells, to a question on why so many intimate conversations on the show take place in the bathroom/bedroom, remarked that from his experiences the most personal of conversations take place in three different places: 1) the restroom 2) the kitchen 3) the bedroom (usually during the most explicit of moments, he was quick to chime)
