Shazam Shazam General Discussion and Speculation - Part 1

Yes I would definitely push back Shazam's release date to either June, July or even August of 2019 or even push it all the way back to 2020

First week of August at the latest. Suicide Squad and Guardians of the galaxy cleaned up in that spot. Anything after and up to October is a graveyard for kids movies, cuz school.

I always thought the rope cape was iconic. Why not use the Kingdom Come design?
The movie one looks like the Superman suit with a pallet swap.

Good thing is that the suit design can be changed easily, if needed, just explain the change by saying that it depends (to some extent) on Billy's imagination.

Except the insensitive racial stuff, and the laughable "flying" effect with the manikin, the movie serial was pretty good.

Eh, without Mentor it is nothing.

Loved the TV show (and ISIS), wasn't Mentor just a re-purposed Uncle Dudley?
I'm still trying to figure out the Winnebago with the not so secret logo, and what the heck that device was?

It would be hysterical if these things get nods in the movie:
Like if in the Wizard's lair, you see that device, and he's like; "no...just ignore that, you don't need it, it's nothing!"
And in the end one of the kids suggests; Billy should now drive across america in a Winnebago helping people:oldrazz:

Given what Shazam has to compete with at the box office coming out to an April 2019 release date it is probably better to push back the release date so that way it doesn't coincide with Captain Marvel or Avengers 4; so I would go with an August, September, October or December release date if anything

Is it really coming that close to Captain Marvel release?
Oh man the sad irony if/when it gets trounced.

Release Dates -

Captain Marvel - 6 March 2019.

Shazam ! - 5 April 2019.

So one month between them, not bad.

One month is about all you can hope for these days. No reason to move.

A month is fine, that's the same gap as GOTG2 and Wonder Woman 1.

I do think if Six Billion Dollar Man ends up getting delayed, WB might be tempted to push Shazam back a month to May 31st but superhero films can co-exist especially as both Captain Marvel and Shazam are very different. The idea they'd push it to 2020 is ludicrous.

If? That's been delayed for the past 20 years or so. :o

I bet Mark Walhberg won't even end up making the project.

Their director they had some months ago already left because of creative differences.

I don't see it coming out at around the same time as Shazam. It hasn't even started filming yet and nothing is happening at all. It is about as far along as Gambit or Masters of the Universe.

David F. Sandberg @ponysmasher

That’s a wrap on Shazam! Now onto months of post production.

What's a "Six Billion Dollar Man" ? Never heard of it. Why is it important ?

With it being in post production I wonder if reshoots will happen

Reshoots happen more often than not these days for a wide variety of reasons.

I didn't even know they were really making this. I was under impression that they were still in pre-production.

None of the dates suggested are likely, August would be too close to both Hobbs and Shaw, New Mutants and a few weeks from The Lion King, September already has IT Chapter 2 and October and December are too close to Wonder Woman 2. If any date is likely it's late May, early June

I don't get how reshoots became a taboo, it's essentially built into the production schedule
