Mr Mind would be cool, only as a Physcological bad guy in Billy's Dream that represent an enemy of Captain Marvel's.
As Billy sleep his subconscious mind deal with his problems as Captain Marvel by making CM villains into Billy's favorite comic book villains. Example: Mr Mind would represent Dr. Sivana in Billy's Dream. To Billy Dr.Sivana is a smart little worm of a man.

They need to cast Brandon Molale. He looks exactly like Captain Marvel and is 6'5".

He was great in Mr. Deeds and Dodgeball and has been in a lot of movies.

Jake Gyllenhaal may soon collect an awfully big paycheck as America's latest superhero. We hear New Line execs are keen to have the "Brokeback Mountain" hunk play Captain Marvel in "Shazam!" Based on the DC comic, the movie is New Line's bid for a franchise on the order of "Batman" and "Superman." "They're ready to spend up to $200 million to get it started," an insider tells us. Sources say director Peter Segal and his fellow producers want to nab Gyllenhaal before "Spider-Man" director Sam Raimi does - with "Spider-Man 3" due to open on May 4, star Tobey Maguire has said he may let someone else play the web slinger.

This tabloid really have no shame. I strongly doubt the budget for a Captain Marvel movie will be more than 75 million.

Oh god no!!!

That's all we need, Tobey Maguire's twin playing Captain Marvel.:whatever:

^ NOIR you can't question anyone, thank you for changing your avatar.
Man you lost all your cool points with that thread of yours.
DC Fan, Molale a sweet choice.
Pay no mind to the singerman fan club.

How can you call Molale a "sweet choice". You are basing it entirely on looks and not a bit on acting. Again, DC Fan described his performance in "Dodgeball" as great - WHEN HE HAD 0 LINES OF MEANINGFUL DIALOG!

Also call "singerman" all you want, Superman Returns is fantastic - I don't see what that has to do with Molale being a poor actor anyway

P.S.

Patrick Warburton.

The Rock on Shazam!

Superhero films are all the rage now, and new ideas are popping up everyday. But one film, one character, has been talked about forever – and I mean forever. That would be Captain Marvel.

So who's going to play the DC Comics man of red and yellow – not The Flash? Well, it could be none other than Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson. Today, during a visit to the set of Get Smart, Johnson was wide eyed when the very idea was brought up to re-team with director Peter Segal in the feature, Shazam!

According to Johnson himself, he's spoken to Pete about the role. "Yeah, he did. Listen, John August is writing the script and he's a tremendous writer, and I'll just wait for the script to come in. But I'd love to work with Pete again, and certainly would want to work with John August. So there's a strong possibility."

Are we going to see The Rock in tights? "Well, knowing Pete, he'd update it and make it fresh," Johnson says. "But that's his question; he's very excited about the project and talks about it passionately. Pete also understands the importance of getting that right; he's a big comic book fan."

What's up next for Dwayne – The Game Plan from Disney and director Andy Fickman. "The movie is fantastic; I loved working on it. Fickman was great! I saw the movie, and it'll be out in September; I'm very, very excited about that."

As for Get Smart... stay tuned to ComingSoon.net for reports soon; it opens in theaters June 22, 2008.

NONONONONO!!!!
I like The Rock, but he should not even be mentioned for Captain Marvel.
Black Adam, however, I can see.

F#ck. You beat me to it. Put some pointy ears on The Rock, and BOOM! Black Adam.

I agree he's perfect for BA but I doubt he plays BA. Why? A black guy playing BLACK Adam? People will think he got the name for his color regardless of how many times its explained in the movie. With that being said..........well never mind......i'll get flamed for voicing my opinion of this film in here.

Billy Batson is going to do somersaults on his bed, when he'll read about it. Not a bad choice, the guy is big and funny. But who's gonna be Black Adam if Dwayne plays CapMarvel? We need someone as big as he is. Unless he plays both roles...

well this certainly adds more fuel to the fire :woot:

I think casting Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson as Captain Marvel would be a stroke of effing genius. Think about it: He has the physique, the facial features and the height to pull off Marvel's look to a science. How many actors embody as much? Plus--and most importantly--he's a solid actor that is respected in both the media and by moviegoing audiences.

As far as his color--he is a multicultural man and has distinct features that could certainly work. He'd...well, ROCK in the role. I hope this pans out.

... the pull of the Rock as Black (Teth-)Adam or Captain Marvel is intriguing.. he can certainly pass as having Egyptian ancestry.. I suppose on one level it comes down to a marketing thing-- if he's cast as Adam, can they have just as big a star to play Marvel?

Very early Wednesday morning, I braved the nightmare that is southbound traffic on the 101 so I could join a few other online writers for a visit to the set of GET SMART. There were two dates available: one featuring Steve Carell, The Rock, Dave Koechner, and Terry Crews, and the other featuring Carell and Anne Hathaway.

Anything regarding GET SMART is still under embargo, but at one point, as the group of us were talking to The Rock, the subject naturally turned to SHAZAM!, which is scheduled to be directed by Peter Segal, who is the director of GET SMART. IGN’s Stax was the first to broach the subject, asking if Segal had ever brought the idea up to The Rock. What was surprising was just how forthcoming The Rock was: “Yeah. He did. Listen, John August is writing the script and he’s a tremendous writer, and I’ll just wait for the script to come in. I’d love to work with Pete again, and I would certainly want to work with John August. So it’s a possibility.”

IESB’s Robert Sanchez was the next to ask about the film, asking about the costume and whether it would be updated or not. The Rock talked about just how much passion Segal has for the project and the character and assured us that it would be in very good hands.

A few more questions about GET SMART went by, and then they called lunch. Everyone started to file out, and I found myself standing alone with The Rock. I passed on to him some comments made by a filmmaker friend about his potential as a movie star, and we started to chat as we walked out of the warehouse where the shooting was taking place. He asked me about SHAZAM!, and, in particular, about the character of Black Adam.

“Which one do you think is a good fit for me?”

Look, standing face to face with Dwayne Johnson, the guy is the right choice for either role. He’d make a killer bad guy, having fun with it, and he’s certainly got the look to pull off Black Adam. But there’s also a decency to him that’s almost immediate when you’re talking to him, this open quality. I told him what it is that has always made Captain Marvel such an interesting character in my opinion.

“You’ve seen BIG, right, with Tom Hanks?”

“Sure.”

“Well, this is BIG with a cape. Billy Batson’s just a kid. But when he says that magic word, in an instant he’s turned into... well... you. It’s like giving a ten-year-old the keys to a Lamborghini. Black Adam might be a nice fit for you... but the role is Captain Marvel.”

He got the funniest smile on his face as we talked for a few more moments about how careful he’s trying to be in mixing up starring roles and supporting roles and action and comedy right now, and then we shook hands as he headed off to lunch.

This is a long way from happening. There’s no guarantee they’ll even offer a role to Johnson. But if they do, I hope he considers it. As action stars go, there are very few who can match him right now for both physical presence and for actual acting ability.

I am sorry but this role the perfect vehicle for Dwayne Johnson becoming a Bigger Star and Captain Marvel becoming a beloved Superhero today like Spiderman.
This film franchise has the potential of being huge.
Lets just hope that they get the story right, so far the casting is spot on. :woot:
Noah Gray-Cabey as Billy Batson will smash the casting out the park.

The Rock as Captain Marvel....hmmm..could work out well. He certainly has the right look and he's a fine actor to boot. He has charisma to spare and has proven he can play the heroic type. Plus he has a great sense of humor. I like this news.

Patrick Warburton.

Molale acting chops can be no worst than Routh.
Routh, can play singerman. Molale, can play Captain Marvel.
Stop knocking the guy.
I cannot say he's a good actor, you cannot say that he is a bad actor.
Molale’s roles have been limiting that is not his fault.

P.S.
Patrick Warburton, I have no beef with that.

I'm sorry, but I fail to see how The Rock looks like Captain Marvel.

I don't see it.

He looks much more like Black Adam.
