Oh god no.
Have you ever seen Black try to act tough?
Have you seen Nach Libre?
Trust me Black is comic relief, not a hero.
Now black as pieface maybe, that might work.
But at the end of the day Gardner is cocky and right to be, as Johns said, hes not the dcu sh**kicker hes the DCU a**kicker.

Wasn't Nacho a comedy?

^Jack Black.

If they gave this to someone like Dreamworks, it could really take off...

Obviously it's unlikely Spielberg himself would direct it, but his talent of showing things with a child-like sense of wonder, taken from Billy Batson's point of view is just the thing that could make this movie a delight.

The casting of Captain Marvel would be almost incidental if the movie concentrated on the coolness of being a superhero when you're a kid.

The Rock as Captain Marvel would actually be pretty cool. I never would have thought of that.

^ At first when Hollywood threw his name around for the role, I thought, what the hell are they doing? But then he kind of grew on me, IMHO he embodies the essence of CAPTAIN MARVEL, so now I have a hard-on for Dwayne Johnson to bring OUR Hero Captain Marvel (BIG RED) "drop the cheese" to life.

Who ever keeps saying The Rock should be Captain Marvel please STOP TALKING!!!!!!

Patrick Warburton is an AMAZING choice! he is huge so he has the build and he is a comedian so he would be able to play off the 'child' in Marvel which i feel should be there, he should make jokes that a 12 year old would make.

Arnold Vosloo in my opinion would be a great Black Adam--I do want to give credit to the person you said him before because its how i decided on him....But also i think The Rock would make a good Black Adam so i would be fine with either of them

Also after thinking i would be ok with John Cena as CM he actually can act pretty well, and whoever said he cant wrestle clearly knows nothin about wrestling

But my vote for The Big Red Cheese goes to PATRICK WARBURTON

Beautifully articulated
Well said my friend! Well said!:up::up:

Thank you.
Much appreciated.
(I've thought the same about your comments too.)

When I originally presented Johnson for the role, and then found Gray-Cabey from Heroes, I knew we had the 2 actors who could pull off the spirit of these characters. They don't have to be white-bread (you can't get much whiter than me) to make this work. We already have Superman for that.
I think with Omar Shariff as the Wizard, you'll have the blockbuster we've all been hoping for. Black Adam can be Cena for all I care. He's the bad guy, don't need a really great actor for that. Hopefully there will be a good script, good story and good director to make this happen.
So far, I haven't heard anything about an actual movie being in the works.
I'd like to see William Massey as Dr Silvana. I think he'd be great with those coke-bottle lenses. Wouldn't even have to be bald. Just looney.

This movie looks like it was designed by someone who works for the [CENSORED] league.

First of all...The Rock has lost a ton of muscle mass, so hed have to bulk back up.

To Inkslinger, who said "He's the bad guy, don't need a really great actor for that" That is a foolish comment. Villians often define the hero, therefore, a great actor is almost vital, or at least an actor who really comes into his own for that role. John Cena would be neither.

Hey, let's play nice or you won't be allowed to play in our sandbox.

We all take these guys seriously, or as serious as is realistically possible.
These were our role models growing up. We all want to say SHAZAM! and become the hero. (We'd also like to do that to kick some crapass around but, well, y'know...) Heck, I'd even settle for a HERO dialthingamajigy.

Bad guys are as good as they are written. I'd love to see a Captain Marvel movie where I can't make up my mind about who I liked more, the hero or the bad guy, or both equally well. A good, well written movie would do that, and it would sell! There are a few movies out there that made the bad guy more popular than the good guy, and a few wheere you didn't care, the actors were that good. And the bad guy was actually a good guy, in a bad guy sort of way. And then there's the Incredibles kind of idiot bad-guy.

The problem we have here is that there are those of us who want the original characters, Billy, the Cap'n, the wizard and Dr. Silvana in the first movie, and those who want the Denny O'Neil '70's Black Adam collection.
I'm from waaayyyy back, so I want Dr. Silvana. It's a more old-fashioned B&W Good vs. Evil thing, whereas Black Adam has some gray-area stuff about him that smacks of Marvel-angst.

I've had enough of that. I want some kick-butt action and I want to hear the Sound of Seven Thunders and see the wonder of a kid becoming a ssuper-hero.

Is that too much to ask for?

The Rock is brilliant in the wish-casting of Marvel. Also Smith from Bone just nailed it in issue#1 of the 4 part miniseries. Best book I've read in a long time and made me smile lots.

Dude, Jack Black is tough. Asj any actor and they will tell you comedy is toughest to do.

Saw Nacho Libre, it sucked. I knew it was bad when I saw they previews.

When i first heard Jack Black's name as the Green lantern I thought no way in hell. But the more I thought about it... If he buffed up, maybe.

They didn't JUST want Jack Black as Green Lantern. This wasn't gonna be Green Lantern as you know it, just with Black as Hal Jordan or something. They were turning the whole thing into a ridiculous comedy. Read the script review at IESB.net. Black is some guy named Jud Plato or something, and the ring comes to him because he was on Fear Factor. It was gonna be a movie rife with fart jokes and stupidity.

That's the best combination I've seen yet.

Great Job.

Dwayne Johnson was born to play Captain Marvel. Granted, I wouldn't mind seeing him as Conan either, but Captain Marvel would be very good.

The only thing Johnson should do in this movie is play Black Adam. Captain Marvel? I don't think so.:whatever:

....Are you even a fan of Captain Marvel after reading thing I don't believe so.

^^Not the Rock.

Any Questions?
100% correct.

The Rock as Captain Marvel, Please.:whatever:

If I was casting this movie I would pick someone like George Eads who actually looks the part.
