People are already disliking the idea and I bet this will end up sinking his career as a somewhat good actor. "One of the silliest comic book characters"? LOL. This movie might end up bombing.

You mean the same way people initially dislike every single casting announcement for every movie, ever?

Like always, they'll stop whining so much once they have time to actually sit down and digest the news (if it does, in fact, become true). That's when the whining stops and the hype kicks in. Worry not, though. People will whine over every single other decision made along the way, so there will never be a shortage of that.

If it was even just a couple of years ago he would look way too young for it, but he's looking a lot more manly now and I can definitely see him working.

Its not Jake's peformance I'm worried about I know he can do it, its just that the movie has cheese written all over especially since the director directs mostly comedies.

You'll get no argument from me on that. I mean, sure, a movie about a little boy who can transform into a full grown adult superhero is asking for *some* cheesy moments here and there. I just would hate for it to be a full on comedy crap-fest, but if they do hire Gyllenhaal, then that shows the kind of direction they're going to take it since he's not known for being a comedic actor, and there are plenty of better choices for if they were going to take it that way. So it really comes down to whether Segal can handle this sort of film or not, which no one can really say that he can't since no one has ever seen him try before. It's really just a flip of a coin, and we can only hope it comes out "heads" rather than "tails."

Oh yeah and on the spiderman thing I do believe Toby will return for other spiderman movies. Why you may ask because its all about the money and besides the job is already there for him rather than going out there and searching for one.

I think Jake will do it. I mean, he seems like the kind of actor who'd do this movie, as for the cheese films... He was in Bubble Boy.

I agree, stop crying Baston, its a movie for christ sake it for pure entertainment of the masses, its not like the film will have a direct influence on events in the comic book. Its a completely alternate Universe made for the average layman..
