shooter on the va tech campus

Course it doesn't add up.

Who brings 2 guns along with additional clips just to kill his gf?

They aren't sure if he is a student or not.

Why did he kill more than just her?

I've heard mutiple stories at this point, and none of the AP articles being released at the moment are confirming any of them. I've heard argument with a Professor over grades, girlfriend trouble, threatened explusion, etc. None of them, however, seem to have all the necessary components. Although I suppose if you kill one group of people killing more probably doesn't seem all that odd, given the circumstances. You kill two people you're going to die...might as well make it count.

One news channel reported he's a graduate...so his gf was probably an underclassman. What's the damned purpose of him lining up students and executing them like that though...sounds very calculating and cold.

One report I just read on ABC.com said that some of the classroom building doors were chained shut. Creepy. :csad:

This will be on tv non-stop for the next 3 months. When thousands of innocent people die in Darfur it doesn't even make the 6 o'clock news.

Every station is reporting different things right now. I doubt we'll get an authoritative story here for a while.

Haven't you heard? Only American deaths are news worthy. Darfur that will be Blood Diamond 2.

There is a group on Facebook now titled "I Have a Right to Protect Myself - Global"

Here is the Description: Students, like every other person, still have a constituitonal right to protect themselves. The right to protect yourself should not end when you step onto campus. This group argues that those with a concealed carry permit should be allowed to carry a gun on their person at all times when on campus.

School shootings cannot be stopped, but their effects can be minimalized. Give students the right to protect themselves.

Wow, what a uniquely horrible solution.

Thats going to far, if you ask me.

But, at the same time, unless you have a watertight method of stopping people bringing guns onto campus, one psycho can very easily take out as many unarmed students as they like, until the police get there. Very sticky situation. If the students, or even the staff, could shoot back it wouldn't be such an issue.

yeah, but how many more school shootings will occure because guns are allowed on campus? people who have the means to do stupid things are much more likely to do them.

And thats my point. Its a lose-lose situation. Perhaps allowing proffessors and other staff to carry guns, but even then, someone gets fired or a student pisses them off, it all kicks off again.

Although, if everyone on the campus had guns, the severity of the shootings might drop- only one or two dead, not thirty-odd. But at the same time, if there are more of them, the overall death toll might well be the same.

See the issue?

Still no name of this guy??? Not even a physical description????? Male Black....Caucasian...etc?????

this is ridiculous.
My spider Sense is tingling on this....:spidey:

yeah, exactly.

in my mind, allowing students/professors to have guns on campus is just out right ******ed. i mean, guns are designed to kill. that is what they are for. that is what they do. the more guns there are, the more likely people are to be killed. if they are there, they will be used. so these people are thinking that the answer to gun violence is to have more guns?! ridiculous! i cant even comprehend that rationale its so ignorant. there is no answer to gun violence. it will always be there. but it can be deterred and squandered, to some degree. and to me, its obvious: less guns equals less gun related deaths.

6 ft Asian? If his name is Mike Moshkin,I'm not surprised.

Oh noes! Now Memphis Slim is going to racially profile every tall asian kid who walks by his house.

Oh, great. Look who's talking about this in Fox News right now...

(Hint: His initials are JT and he's blaming it on video games...)

This is so so sad but i can't say i'm shocked.:csad: I thought Columbine was a wakeup call but i guess the government has other priorities than bringing down guncrime. Heck i think the president and vice president even use guns. (correct me if i'm wrong)
This is horrible

what even more horrible is guyz like michael moore minting money on tragic incidents like these

Instead of criticizing the guy maybe people could learn something from those documentaries. Most people i know find it strange that it's so easy to purchase a gun.

Side note: How the heck did the shooter get to walk around for 2 hours after the first shooting? If the school had taken swifter action a greater tragedy could have been averted. *sigh*
