shooter on the va tech campus

I think you are thinking now in hindsight.

There's a picture when this all happened of an asian male being put to the ground in cuffs, which obviously wasn't the right man.

Do you think most secruity would be that on the ball?

I also was watching the news and one of the correspondants went to V Tech and he said "there is like 10 different ways to come onto that campus".

Even expelled, if he wanted to, he probably would have just been able to walk back on campus unmolested.

I completely agree, it's easy to use hindsight, but really there was nothing that really could've prevented this.

What's sickening is all the "copycat" threats that are popping up in schools around the country this week.

...and Supes, i LOVE that quote. i'm gonna have to start using it because i believe in it very much so.

it IS a great quote isn't it?? One of my faves...but If you do use it, proper credit goes to William Jennings Bryan :D

Merry christmas?

The shooter sent NBC news a package during the shooting... :wow:

Brian Williams, anchor and managing editor of “NBC Nightly News,” said in a posting on the program’s “Daily Nightly” blog that the communication was received earlier Wednesday. He described it as a very long “multimedia manifesto.”
The package, timestamped in the two-hour window between Monday's shootings, was sent to NBC News head Steve Capus. It contained digital photos of the gunman holding weapons and a manifesto that "rants against rich people and warns that he wants to get even,"

Great, now how long til someone latches on to this and starts claiming that Communism would have prevented this and why capitalism is the devil :whatever:

It'd be interesting to see how many of the people he shoot came from upper class families and how many from middle class families. Just to see if he was able to kill the "rich kids" with random gunfire.

More stories of our conflicted murderers mind. He was at a party an after many drinks babbled on about his imaginary girlfriend that he called jelly. His name was spankey.

If he was such a loner, so anti social he wouldnt even WRITE his actual name down on a sign in sheet why the hell would he go to parties. Parties filled with the same people he hated.

A phychologist read his acts an said from them they felt he was harboring homosexual thoughts an feelings but was angry about it. Yet when he was drunk, when your subconscious thoughts an feeling are most likely to surface he talked of a girlfriend, if even imaginary.

This man is a walking contradiction. Or the media an even people at VA Tech are bull****ting 50% of the information about this guy.

Does no one see this basically goes against the theory he was "anti social" an a "loner"?

Another self-loathing social misfit indulging in violent revenge fantasies. Pathetic.

Why didn't he just read superhero comics like the rest of us self-loathing social misfits? :(

Wow, say what you want about this idiot, but he was thorough. He knew the best way to get his voice heard, was to send his information directly to the press, and they played his game by putting everything he wanted people to see up on the air. NBC you dumb dumb network...:cmad:

Because he didn't know about the Hype :(

What really makes me angry about this whole situation is:

a.) The apparent ineptness of the faculty who knew that he was deeply disturbed and just sat on their asses and did little-to-nothing about it. Not to mention the psychiatrist who apparently evaluated him and declared him as just 'depressed'. Shouldn't he/she have known if a client lies to them about their well-being?

b.) Now when I'm back at school in the fall, I don't want to have to look at a person and think to myself, are they disturbed or fine? Or even worse, I really shudder to think that if I see a person with a coat on, I'll wonder if they're hiding any kind of weapon under there. If so, are they going to just let loose all of a sudden and start attacking random students/teachers?

This all could have been avoided, and that's the saddest fact about the whole tragedy.

Word... or watch cartoons. That's what I do.

they released the video he sent... very disturbing

I'm not saying that...there is plenty of grey...but there was celarly nothing but malice in this guys actions. He sought to do nothing but cause mindless death and undiscriminantly destroy the lives of many promising students to me that is pure evil.
I don't know, I guess the fact that I can't imagine him cackling maniacally after doing it makes it difficult to picture him as someone plainly evil.
True, in the sense that the world is not actually black and white... However, as a society, Americans do in fact limit things to black and white all the time. It's our nature... "My way or the highway."
yeah it's human nature to break things down to the lowest common denominator.

he looks like that guy from x-men the last stand, I think he might be part of the brotherhood

There was a Facebook group that actually was about being tired of everyone mourning this, and described it as "Self-congratulatory bulls**t"...

It was removed not too long ago. I just can't believe insensitive pricks would make a group like that.
