WOMEN'S HEALTH: MURDER!!!

ACTUAL MURDER: ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Yep.

Tragic yet once again nothing will be done about access to weapons yet again here in America. There are several common sense steps we could take to prevent things of this nature that the gun nuts will freak out about. Not too long from now you will have gun nuts claiming this as a made up story from liberal media and photoshopping images to try and prove there point. It's all very sad

Republicans don't seem to have any solution to these mass shootings, they say it is because of a lackluster mental health system, but Reagan was the one who cut the mental health system back in the 80s. So is their solution to fix the mess they created in the 80s in the first place and is likely not the full solution to this problem anyway? Because besides taking about mental health issues (a valid problem they helped create) and video games (not a valid issue) I have not seen a Republican come up with a real solution.

To be fair, I haven't seen Democrats come up with a real solution either.

Theyve pushed for more extensive background checks and unless Im mistaken some of them have pushed for a national database for more effective background checks.

Oregon already has background checks. So unless the shooter was out-of-state...

Well the question is, are there more Democrats that are willing to support some reasonable gun control laws then Republicans? Because if so, at least some Democrats are trying to be part of the solution rather then the problem, if not, then yeah, the Dems are not much better then the GOP. Proposing reasonable gun control laws is a solution.

There are not this many mass shootings in other first world countries, which all have stricter gun control laws then America, so clearly those laws work in those countries.

This is true.

But the practical-level problem is that these other countries are not the size of America, and don't have the second amendment. "Stricter gun laws" in other Western countries have tended to entail gun confiscation (or voluntary relinquishment of firearms). I'm not sure how that is feasible in America. The other difficulty is that criminals will still be able to get guns, given the illegal traffic of firearms across the Mexican border (as well as other black market methods).

So I guess what I'm saying is I've yet to see a Democratic proposal that has persuaded me that it would make any difference or be practical and feasible in the U.S.A. But maybe I'm wrong on this.

Maybe it's time to rethink the Second Amendment, no other first-world country has any sort of ridiculous amendment or law.

This is the 45th mass shooting at school in 2015. I don't really care about the debate regarding the 2nd Amendment and how the guns don't kill people do argument, we have to find a way to reduce this number drastically and significantly. If the people who did it had mental issues, then pass a law to treat more mental patients. If more criminals caused this, then they should tighten the background check and makes it harder for them to buy firearms. Right now the NRA, the gun owner rights group, and even Congress are standing idly by and refused to do anything for fear that it will infringe on their ability to buy those high caliber guns and rifles. So they'd rather treat school shootings as just a way of life, but it should not and cannot be. America as a nation must do something about it, and fast.

Exactly.

That fact is misleading because it's for all mass shootings this year, not just those at schools.

it doesn't really matter does it? The number certainly does. 45 shooting's in a year! Some countries get that number in a decade.

Ten dead and more than 20 others injured. At least the shooter is in custody.

I won't pretend to have much to say in this topic that hasn't already been said, and on serious matters I usually can't contribute enough that's worth reading, but I have got to say this makes me happy that at the very least the idiot gunman was taken in alive, can be held accountable, and didn't take his own life. Its a very small win.

I'm looking on Comcast for any news on this (in Colorado) as I type. Nothing yet.

Just being accurate as I've seen some wildly inaccurate numbers being used by people to justify their positions, some by people on major news outlets. Any amount of shootings besides 0 is a good number.

Actually, the shooter exchanged gunfire with officers, was hit, and has since died. This was confirmed by the county sheriff at his press conference this afternoon.

Was it self-inflicted or by the authorities?

EDIT: Question answered as I posted this. NVM.

I'm looking for some news on this.

I don't know why, since its just going to sadden my day...

There are unconfirmed reports that the shooter was specifically targeting Christians. So this may be religiously motivated.

Oh joy. More ammunition for the Kim Davises of the world.

Goddamn. another shooting. Nothing will be done about it... Nothing at all against Obama, any president would do the same thing, but thanks for writing a 12 minute speech. Shut the **** up and do something about it.
