I felt the same way. The extreme focus on Zion and the machines in the sequels was pretty uninteresting, to me.

That was the only interesting part for me, actually. That rave looked wild.

The Matrix is such a product of its time. Even the most that were strongly influenced by it (Underworld, Resident Evil are stuck in the early 2000's), it's all been done to death.

SO a new Matrix movie would have to be a total reinvention, but how does one do that?
