There should be no Empire Strikes back or T2 here, this thread is for sequels that :
A) generally get a bad wrap
B) are under-the-radar or
C) completely forgotten altogether, that you enjoy.

here's my list :

The Matrix Reloaded
The Matrix Revolutions
Ghostbusters II
Jaws 2
Batman Returns
X-Men Origins: Wolverine (not great but not bad either)
Spider-Man 3 (flawed but still entertaining. Besides, the hate for this thing is just appalling). is it surprising this made my list?:o:woot:
X-Men: The Last Stand (see Spider-Man 3)
Batman Forever
All 3 Star Wars prequels (I like AOTC. But I do not LOVE it)
Indy IV.
The Lost World
JP3
Wayne's World 2
Addams Family Values

that's my list, now what is Yours?

Hmm

Transformers Revenge of the Fallen
Batman Forever
Transporter 3

I shall have the best list of them all:

Gremlins 2: The New Batch
Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (I still don't understand the mixed reception though in the long run, it's still well liked)

I snicker at..Transformers 2.

Back to the Future 3
Spider-man 3
X-men 3
Terminator 3
Indy 4

The Matrix sequels
Indi IV
Terminator 3
The Lost World

I agree that Back to the Future 3 wasn't that bad at all. I think it's the 'stigma' of being in the old west AFTER being in the future/alternative reality from part 2.

The Matrix Sequels
Terminator 3
Alien 3
Die Hard 4.0 (Unrated)

Return to Oz, which a semi-sequel to the Judy Garland classic.

Batman and Robin
Troll 2
Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo

I would have to say :

Matrix Revolutions/Reloaded -(After reading some deep posts about some things I did not catch it made all the difference)

Back to the Future 3-Yea it was a fun movie I liked it.

Alien 3-My hate for this subsided over time, and it is very different, but still enjoyable. Not near as bad as what AR, AVP, and AVP2 were. But yea as the years go on the more I like this film. Classic no. But still a good film.

Indiana Jones-Temple of Doom- I agree with Octoberist on this one. It was a different tone than the first and the third, but I still enjoyed it.

Predator 2-Though again like Alien 3, this was not the best, but it was by no means bad. I still enjoyed it and overall it was a good movie.

Terminator Salvation
Alien 3
Jaws 2
Gremlins 2: The Next Batch
Wes Craven's New Nightmare
Back to the Future: Part 3

Halloween III: Season of the Witch, although it had the potential to be much better than it actually is, if it had stuck closer to Nigel Kneale's original ideas and didn't try as hard to be a gore filled slasher movie.

Jaws 2 doesn't hold a candle to Jaws, but it's a solid enough thriller.

Temple of Doom has its issues, but it's dark and exciting and does something different.

There are probably a bunch of Bond movies that belong here.

Sanjuro absolutely deserves to be talked about in the same breath as Yojimbo.

I'll also mention Batman Returns. Especially as an expressionistic art film smuggled in as a summer action blockbuster.

I'll also agree with Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey.

From Hammer, Brides of Dracula and Revenge of Frankenstein absolutely deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as their forebears. Most people that have seen them would agree that Quatermass 2 and Quatermass and the Pit are better than The Quatermass Xperiment.

Both of the Back to the Future sequels are quite underrated. No, they don't quite reach to the heights of the first film, but they're still very good I think.

I also think Predator 2, and Ghostbusters II get a lot of undue flack. Again, they're not quite as good as the originals, but I like them both.

I love Alien 3, and it seems it gets a lot of its hate simply for killing off certain characters in the beginning of the flick. Since, as a kid, I didn't know I was supposed to be outraged at this I never grew to hate the flick as other have.

...and the list goes on I suppose... more recently I could mention flicks like Spider-Man 3, or Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

Clerks II is a good thematic successor to the first one.

Sanjuro was a good sequel. I don't like the fact that the majority of the scenes had Sanjuro tag along with the other junior samurai.

Sanjuro has the most awesome final duel of any movie ever.

Transformers 2
Back To The Future 2
Nightmare On Elm Street 2
Ghostbusters 2
Rocky 5
Superman 4
Staying Alive (sequel to Saturday Night Fever)

I really think an underrated sequel should have redeeming qualities that most people have overlooked or have a certain charm that makes it work. The question begs: Is Transformers 2 really an underrated sequel? I just want to see a good argument for the film.

Because its a summer blockbuster movie based on a popular toy franchise and this is an internet message board based on superheroes?

Honestly, what did you think you were going to find in this thread? I'm surprise that Sanjuro got mention.
