Should Brian Cox return as Stryker?

Considering this film will most likely be about Wolverine finding more about himself, should the Stryker character return as being involved with the Weapon X program, as well as actually being shown giving Wolverine his adamantium skeleton?

During the past X-Men films, we've seen Wolverine having flashbacks of his past. For the film, it'd be the right time to see how they played out through HIS eyes. Not to mention how Cox was absolutely the right choice for the role, and was phenomenal in X2.

Should he make an appearence, or not, discuss.

I think the guy who played young Stryker in that .5 sec X2 flashback look like a younger Brian Cox... if he has any acting ability at all, that's all you need I think, because Stryker's motivations were covered well by Brian in X2. BUT if that guy can't act and can only turn to the camera (that's all we saw of him), then I don't mind if they bring back Brian Cox.

Brian Cox is an incredible actor. Stryker is saposed to have a lot to do with Wolverine's past, so I say he should be in the Wolverine movie. Brian Cox may draw me into the theater. Wolverine doesn't do it for me.

Abraham Cornelius was responsible for lacing Logan's bones with adamantium. Lord Dark Wind(Lady Deathstrike's father) actually created the process.Also there some guy named the Professor or something like that.

You share my respect for talented actors. With the X-franchise I think the stand-outs are McKellan (duh) and Aaron Stanford (who is definitely being groomed for a very prominent villian role) the most. Others though? Ellen Page (tons of talent for such a young actress, its a shame she didn't have a little more screentime), Ben Foster (again, very talented.. but this film didn't need someone like him to play a minute or two of Angel), and Brian Cox (I wouldn't mind more of him at all... the only problem is in X2 he mocks Logan about how he aged and Logan didn't since Weapon X... makes it hard for Cox to return).

Obviously Hugh Jackman nailed Wolverine since X1, but I wouldn't say he's as talented as McKellan or anyone (look at McKellan's feeble old man in Da Vinci compared to the X-films). Patrick Stewart is good, but is Professor X that hard for him? Famke is really talented, as is James Marsden- them I'll give credit too, same with Anna Paquin. You know whose starting to impress me as an actor and I never would have expected it? Shawn Ashmore.

^For those who don't want to read all that I just typed up there, here's the problem with Stryker played by Brian Cox:

In X2, Stryker pokes fun at Logan because he's aged and Logan hasn't at all in the 10-15 years since Weapon-X. I guess you could use that "de-aging" CG from X3, but would they spend the extra money for Cox and those effects if he has a prominent role?

He should definitely not have a prominent role, more like a cameo id say if they want to explain weapon x. A full Stryker film all over again is repetitive id think.

And give that time--I saw Hugh on stage, and he was so unbelievably talented (and I'm a spoiled theatergoer, I'm not easy to impress), and he seems to be getting better movie roles since that show, everyone will get a chance to see what a terrific actor he is.

Same here. He was another one I wish had more screentime in X3.

As far as Brian Cox, I'd love to see them bring him back for the spinoffs, especially since they established him as a major part of Wolverine's past in X2.

They did mention he might possibly appear in the spinoff in a recent Starlog interview with Hugh Jackman.

Stryker's gotta be in there --- X2 established him as being a major part of Wolverine's past, the man who put his "signature on his bones", and it would seem extremely inconsistant now for Stryker not to be there.

And Brian Cox definitely should be back in the role as well, especially since they can now use the de-aging technology from the last X-Men movie to make him look a good 10-20 years younger. If they want to keep the budget down, they can simply have Stryker sit in the shadows for much of the movie, sort of as the man behind the desk issuing the orders, which would also give him a very menacing, behind-the-scenes undercurrent.

A recast wouldn't be necessary, Cox was really overall the right choice for Stryker. If the character does in fact return, the idea of him returning to the role should be considered. I'd hope that there's room for him in the film, as said before he's a big part of Wolverine's past, which could reflect well on the film if done right.

How do you adjust for Cox's age if he has a big role in this one though? In X2 he pointed out to Logan that he has aged and Logan hasn't. Wouldn't that cost a lot "de-aging" him for a most of the film?

You know, he has cut a lot of weight the last time I saw him on film too.. maybe it could work if they die his hair and are a bit generous with make-up
