Should Hulk Get Another Solo? What would it be about?

Should Hulk Get a New Solo film?

  • Yes, it should be based in space.

  • Yes, it should be somewhere on earth.

  • No, but he should be a main side character in a film much like Black Widow in Captain America 2.

  • No, Hulk should be in Avengers films only.

I feel he does, only because the character hasn't really grown over his last 3 films. He still isn't in full control of his abilities, cannot speak as the Hulk, doubts himself way too much, etc. It's time we moved on past the Banner that won't fully embrace the Hulk to one that accepts him. I honestly felt his "development" in AoU did more harm than good and sent him backwards.

I'd really love to see a movie that delves deep into banners internal struggle. Maybe have him accept that the hulk is a part of him and isnt going anywhere. Play up the aspect that hulk is always trying to claw his way out. But I'd also like them to play up a gray hulk type story where banner can feel something different inside him, something unfamiliar. they sould also find away to show communication between hulk and banner. Whether it be through dreams, or through mirrors. I'd hoped whedon would've given us that, but we didn't get that.

Buts indeed time for a new movie. I feel like it'd be a massive success under Marvel's belt now.

I think Hulk could work in a solo film. Through out the years Hulk is been done in many various ways. Some times he been a big brute and not very intelligent. Other times he very intelligent while other times he a great warrior. It's more about finding the right incarnation of the hulk that would work in a film.

To me that incarnation is Planet and World War Hulk. However they have to get him to that point. I think there not ready to use the Hulk in that way.

With his minimal role in AOU, which I can honestly say I pretty much hated. I think another Hulk solo movie is needed more than ever. After doing him so well in Avengers his role in AOU was far too short and a big disappointment.

You're not hard to disappoint that's for sure.

I was hoping that the Quinjet would accidentally get cued to go into space, and from there, he'd be part of the Guardians of the Galaxy pt. 2. It would be good for Banner to finally be exposed to the presence of alien cultures, while holding his own as the Hulk, in some galactic fight club.

Agree. He still needs more development yet. It's too soon to send him into space and an Avengers ensemble piece is just not the place to build on his character. The one thing the Avengers did well was to help make him cool again.

With Thunderbolt Ross appearing in Civil War I wonder what that means for Hulk's future? Bring back Liv too. I liked her as Betty a lot.

The Gray Hulk must be developed. A space adventure is a good opportunity to do that. Living under a different kind of sun(s), different atmospheric mixes, etc., that could affect Banner's physiology. We could also see the Hulk surviving in a vacuum for the first time.

I would love to see this theme explored in a solo movie. I must admit that when I read the interviews where Whedon stated that the portrayal of the Hulk would change in AoU I did get my hopes up that we would get a brief scene related to Banners internal struggle (especially due to the damage caused in the Hulkbuster scene). His jokes about a Hulk soliloquy also made me think that he would get a few great phrases in AoU. Sadly he was referring to the lullaby and Hulk didn't say a word. :csad:

I hope that the appearance of General Ross in CW may begin the development of a story that culminates in a Hulk movie in phase 4.

I only want another one if it introduces She-Hulk in a large capacity.

There are so many possible routes. They set up The Leader. The Leader's character and genius alone leads o the possibility of him creating the formula that made Ross into Red Hulk. Or they could introduce the Enclave and have Bi-Beast. Perhaps introduce She-Hulk and have a Hulk team up film. There are so many possibilities. But my personal preference would be one where they finally focus on the Leader.

Yes, Hulk should get another solo film, but they need to take the good parts from the last 2 films and meld them together. Ang Lee's psychological effects Hulk has on Banner and his life, mind, and emotions while dealing with another personality living inside him. TIH action sequences and characterization of almost everyone. Throw in the mandatory MCU references, Ruffalo, and a villain like The Leader or Bi-Beast or whomever and there ya go.

Any avid hulk fan is going to be clamoring for him to have a bigger role in AoU, but there had to be room for everyone else to shine. Hulks role was fine in Aou, i wish he had a bigger role but I understand why they treated him the way they did. My only gripe is that hulk should've spoken.

I think the difference is, most of those other characters have their own franchises to fall back on, whereas Hulk literally has bit-roles every few years. Fans are hungry for the character to be memorable and leave a big impact to help satiate them until the however long it is he appears again.

I agree. And unfortunately for us hulk fans, marvel has PLENTY of other properties they can develop without doing another hulk solo.

Along with Stark - Hawkeye, Black Widow and Banner/Hulk had the largest roles in the film. They each had major arcs. Vision, Scarlet Witch and Pietro had smaller arcs. Thor and Cap had very minor arcs but at least they have third solo films to look forward to. Iron Man it seems will have no more solo films and he was key to the birth of the main antagonist so I don't begrudge his exposure in AOU.

What is Marvel doing after the climax that is Infinity War? They can't just close up shop. There will be more stories to tell. I believe we'll see a Hulk film in "Phase 4". Universal is also tied up with Sub-Mariner and I'm sure they will want to do something with him too. The time is getting ripe for a Hulk solo. It will be interesting to see what kind of role Thunderbolt Ross has in Civil War. I just hope Ruffalo is on board and doesn't get too old. I really like him as Banner.

The mcu will definitely keep growing after the infinity climax, Feige already has boasted about having plans for the next decade.

I wonder how long universal has distribution rights over hulk, and whatever kind of rights they have over namor. And i kinda fear Ruffalo may age out of the role before he gets the sequel he deserves.

When there is a sequel, set it in Las Vegas. Introduce Joe Fixit as the persona who scares both Banner and Hulk who becomes a gangster who's just a remorseless killer but compensates by being very, very funny. It'll be kind of like Loki getting his own film.

And Leader should be the villain who brings Joe Fixit out in the first place. Half-Life and Madman should be his henchmen. Mostly just to tie up that loose end.

As much as love hulk, I'd have absolutely no interest in Joe fixit showing up in the movies especially the way you just described him. I'm sorry it just wouldn't come off the right way imo. Itd be really hard for me go into a theater and watch a movie about a grey hulk gangster holed up in vegas remorselessly killing people and then being funny to compensate. It just seems so very off, and disney wouldn't go for that, especially for one of their flagship heroes.

Now if there was a movie where Banner knows there's something inside that doesn't seem right, something aside from the hulk that doesn't care about the things he cares about, something dark and out of control (more akin to black suit spidey but more savage and dangerous). Have the movie be about Banner and Hulk trying to regain control thier psyche.
physical villains can be Leader, half-life, madman or abomy.

If Marvel do want to save Hulk for the Avengers movies alone then the pressure is on to make sure he has a memorable role like in Avengers. While I enjoyed seeing Banner and Hulk return in AoU I didn't like the role he was given. I hope to see something better from the Russo's in IW - a few words from Hulk, no BW romance and maybe a dream sequence (or similar) showing an interaction between the two personas.

Personally, I don't mind Ruffalo playing Banner in his early 50s as the action sequences are by Hulk who doesn't have to appear the same age. Plus Mark looks good for his age :yay:

Honestly i think mark is showing his age. Sure with the appropriate amount of make up and hair dye they make him look like he's in his 40s, but im not sure if ruffalo himself wants be a 50 yr old hulk.

I was thinking of Joe Fixit as a combination of Patrick Bateman and Nelson Muntz. The guy who'd show up to collect an old lady's gambling debt, then throw her out a window and loot her piggy bank. Just really slapstick violence in a gangster movie where Hulk's mob buddies (led by Silvermane) eventually sell him out to the Leader for a good deal of cash (and because Joe Fixit is so unstable).

I'd also introduce Rick Jones and Marlo Chandler.

Ehhh not feeling an idea like that at all. Not for an entire hulk movie. Garrish behavior like that is pretty off putting imo.
