check out the message board at Military.com and see what we think
The people most passionate about the topic are right-wing service members. It's no suprise that they are the ones vocal about it. I'm sure there's people in the military who would rather be home with their families than dodging IEDs.

But military.com is less likely to tolerate or encourage people who speak out against the war. Makes sense doesn't it.

Is that what reverse Psychoogy is? I gotta make a call.

Jackass? If I'm were to be banned, you should be banned also.

He just said, the majority of the military are dumbasses out of his own stinking mouth! How plain can it be.

LOL, nice to meet you. You really are showing your ass. I didn't say the majority of the military, again, don't put words in my mouth. I said "sometimes I think the Marine Corps is at least 75% dumbasses", which was obviously a tongue-in-cheek rib on my fellow Marines as we always talk crap about each other. The Corps is like a little brother. I'm allowed to talk crap. :)

Sorry if that wasn't clear. Now I'm making it clear.

Which still doesn't change the fact that most of the "foot soldiers" in the military lack a college education.

Oh, ya, I'm not arguing that. You can't even be an officer in the military without a college degree. Hence, why I said "foot soldiers".

The ones that do the grunt work.

Perhaps, but most of those foot soldiers are young and because they're younger are less likely to have college educations.

The ones that get that college education, that is paid for by the military, will probably go on to become officers.

whatever, kid.

:woot: Wow, when did this guy get here anyway?

I always miss the intros to the newbies... :(

So that makes them a dumbass.

Did you complete your college education?

What does that make you? hahhahhahaha. :down

**k you and your sweeping generalization.

we all would rather be home but you dont raise your hand and put the uniform of a US Servicemember for the comfort level.
and there are people on that board who speak out against the war. This is from the terms of the site....
Pay close attention to the part that says: Respect for the Commander In Chief. Argue against administration policies all you want. Present your case, and have your facts lined up. But you’d better be respectful of the position. “President-bashing” of a disrespectful nature is not tolerated, and will quickly earn you the disdain and outright mockery of the membership. This especially includes derogatory nicknames.

Blind Fury, you should have set the poll public so everybody could see who and how they voted.
Fewer people would vote if it were public.

Is that a real picture or a digitally enhanced painting..

I don't believe that's the case.

I've yet to see a poll where people didn't vote because it might be known how they voted. I doubt that having it known how people vote on this particular question would cause people to not vote.

That might apply if you asked people if they were a child molester or something.

Well, I do think it has more to do with what someone else said earlier... the military is a common outlet for young people who can't get or don't desire to go to college and continue their education. I come from a military family and am the youngest (and first) Marine and I was pretty amazed at the sheer amount of men and women who enlisted because they come from very poor, small towns (one of my closest friends had never even seen a black person or an escalator in real life before joining the Corps); or they married early and hadn't had any better jobs where they came from; or they were unwed mothers at the age of 18, etc. Many different scenarios, many different stories. All culminating to the fact that they basically had nowhere else to go, or nothing else to do.

I did recruiting for a grand total of 1 month. And I called my command and asked them to get me back to my unit... why? because I saw exactly how recruiters get people to sign up. They exaggerate, they go to mostly black or hispanic high schools, they go to the malls in the poorer areas of town, and/or they just flat out lie to kids.

The college eduacted kids are usually the ones with a very clear picture of what they want out of life and the military and how to acheive it. They are mostly officers. There simply aren't alot of (in my own experience) enlisted men and women who start out their time in the service with a college education.

Not in college? You do realize that 95% of the officers in the military have college degrees, right? You do realize that, compared to the civilian population, the military is FAR more educated, right?
95%? Prove it. Post a link stating actual statisics for each branch of the military

My national newspaper did a story on these particular works of art, because the look of all the kids were so horrific that people wondered what the artist could have done them to cry like that.

She gave them a green lollipop to suck on and their mothers took the lollipops way.

officers? yeah maybe, what percentage do officers compose (if you mean the higher ups) and what percentage do the foot soldiers compose.

plus it doesn't count if they where poor and joined the military toget an education.

it's already been posted in the thread.
