Not really, cause I'm still reading (albeit free) so I get to keep track of Spidey's progress without adding to Marvel's couffers when it comes to Spidey.

I'm not looking for anyone to follow my example, but someone who's not enjoying Spidey would save alot of money by just walking into a Barnes&Noble and reading it for free.

Also why would I support something that I'm not enjoying? I'd be a ****** if I kept buying Daewoo cars, if it's crap. So why buy crap?

So, you feel that you can come here and keep complaining about a character who's comic books you don't even BUY anymore?

I'm not here to tell you what to do and what YOU do is you're own choice.

But you're reading it for free, dude. Yeah, you're a fan and you still may not agree with it. But what is there to complain about, seriously, if you're reading the book for free?

Why keep coming here and complaining if you're not buying it?

Really you're only making yourself more angry and frustrated with it while you keep reading.

I stopped reading Spider-Man back when they resurrected Aunt May. And gave the dumbest explanation for her return EVER! EVER! I didn't stop buying the Spider-Man titles and then read them for free at a bookstore and keep complaining about how Aunt May being back is stupid.

No, I dropped the titles and just stopped reading...period. And it was probably the best thing I ever did in my life. Now I'm back in the game and things are better than they were 8 or so years ago.

Like I said, I'm not telling you what to do but I just really don't see the logic in what you do. If you don't like what's going on, just don't read it at all.

SIAT's got a point too. I understand not buying it. But if you're not gonna buy it, then you shouldn't read it either. Because reading it's just gonna piss you off. Why put yourself through all that? If you're gonna drop a book, then don't look back until there is a significant change. Like a new creative team with an interesting direction or something. Gotta do it cold turkey.

Right. That's my logic with my comics, at least. Why keep aggravating yourself over and over again as if things are going to magically change next issue or something?

And most people stop reading to "protest" the book. If you're going to protest it and want a change then you PROTEST IT. If you're reading it for free you're not protesting anything, you're just basically ripping Marvel off and the artist and writer who made that book possible.

Which in and of itself can derive some sense of satisfaction. "I'm not buying it, but I'm still reading it. So f**k you Marvel!" Heh, nothing wrong with spite.

No, taking it into the bathroom with you and wiping your bum with it then putting it back on the rack is the best form of protest.

That would just ruin your fellow comic fans' day, though. It wouldn't really strike back at the Man.

True. I'm sure it could. But if what is happening to the character pisses you off that bad why even bother reading it?

It's basically like the Howard Stern theory. The people who hated him the most actually listened to his show longer than the people who enjoyed him.

As I said earlier. You're only adding more fuel to your anger. Instead of reading a book you know is going to SUCK for free. Pick up something NEW and read that for free and maybe you'll like it...and read something different to get your mind off of the suckiness.

Yeah. I mean, why read it if it sucks? Try something new or save an extra $2.99 a month - it's another 15 miles worth of gas, anyway.
I never understood the whole trainwreck theory, where it's so bad you can't not watch. Doesn't make sense to me.

People bear allegiances to characters, even though their current portrayals are awful. For example, I'm still reading Robin through the end of the current arc, even though the writer is butchering the hell out of Batgirl's character, in the hope that he'll reveal it was some kind of Lazarus Pit-induced madness or a clone of Batgirl or anything, really, to say that it wasn't really the Batgirl whom I grew to care about through her series doing the ****ed up crap in Robin. If I end up dropping it, I'll still probably check back every now and then just to see if anything's happened with Batgirl.

Loyalty is a valid reason. I can accept that.

I haven't read Robin # 150 yet. I'm guessing something really stupid happens then. Because I haven't seen a problem with Robin yet. But don't tell me, I want to read it myself... And I don't really care about Batgirl that much anyway...so maybe it won't piss me off as badly. :o
