Power Girl
Though they are biologically the same person, Power Girl behaves as an older, more mature, and more level-headed version of Supergirl, with a more aggressive fighting style. She also adopts a different secret identity from her counterpart

With Kara's supporting cast taking a bit of a hit at the end of season 3 with the departure of Mon-El (Chris Wood won't be returning for season 4) and Winn (Jeremy Jordan has moved from a series regular to a recurring role) it could be a good time to introduce Power Girl. A more mature and aggressive version of herself is just what she might need to get her ready to take on Evil Red Son Supergirl or whatever it is they are doing in season 4.

Also Brainac was mentioned so she could probably use her help for that as well.

What do you think?
Would you like to see Power Girl in season 4?

No. Maybe Season 5. I think we've gotten enough kryptonians appearing even if it is a doppelganger.

Which brings me to: if they were to introduce her and keep her classic origin...they need to do something about how easy it is to travel between worlds. The Arrowverse has made time travel and multiverse jumping just to simple.

If they go with her JLU origin....then sure.

I'd be up for her, though I think they'd need to cast someone who's both similar to Melissa, yet older. I wouldn't really want Melissa to play her.

Isn't the premise of Power Girl that she was accidentally stranded on Earth-Prime? I thought that was her reason for sticking around - because she couldn't get home?

If they do you can bet she won't look like that! :funny:

I don't see why not lol it's not like she has the most difficult costume to put together. It would be kind of funny to see the cw show that pushes damn near every social issue in an episode be like "BAM!!!! We're introducing a Supergirl with big melons and an attitude lol"

Alice Eve, would be a good casting imo.

Plus I think it could be interesting the dynamic between the two of them if Brainiac is a main villain. Since he's often displayed as pure cyborg/android the debate of if they can kill him or not could be interesting between them.

This is just a decent cosplay of Power Girl im sure even with just tv studio money they could make it look a bit better.

Yeah. Traveling the multiverse in the comics is 10x harder then in the show.

Well, in the show, only a few people have the ability to travel to other worlds, so maybe [if they wanted] they could have her having been trapped here for a few years then finally deciding to help out - to then be informed there's a way back to her Earth, only to then go there, and find it in ruins, thus she decides to return with [our heroes] and make a new home for herself.

That would be a good intro.

They could also do she is from an Earth that Brainiac has already decimated, kind of like Flash season 2 with fake Jay only I want this to be real Power Girl if that makes sense lol.

Yeah, that would make perfect sense; if her (and a few select others) escaped their Earth and sought refuge on Earth-1 somehow (maybe Barry accidentally arrives there in the nick of time and she asks for his help), then he can simply say "come with me if you want to live", open up a breach, and presto, Kara [Senior] is saved, knowing that her world is in ruins, and that her Brainiac is undefeatable.

Kara has a device that allows her to jump earths and to Cisco who can go anywhere.

I think going with the decimated world would be good. Just the initial "how do I get back home" would be hard to do once she meets Kara.

(note; I havent seen season 3yet due to relying on Netflix and Im not sure if it's been added yet so I'm going based on spoilers)

If a new Kara showed up at the end of the season finale, I was wondering if that would end up being Power Girl. I kind of hope not because playing another character would add to Melissa's workload and by necessity limit PG's appearances.

I sincerly hope, however, that if they do introduce Power Girl they give her an outfit similar to the comic version. Not just because I'm a leg man and the circle cutout looks good on the cosplayers I've seen who use it but because other than a handful of exceptions (Flash, Supergirl, Stargirl, Kid Flash), the superhero outfits on every show look more or less the same - full leather outfit with different dark shades. I've always been partial to my super heroes actually looking like super heroes. The CW costume designers are talented enough to keep Flash or Stargirl from looking too dorky in their colorful outfits.

But no, what will probably happen is PG will be in a full white neck to toe outfit a-la White Canary

Good point forgot about those.

I think the dynamic could work well just because though I would consider Kara a pretty seasoned hero now she's never had a proper mentor as Supergirl. Kara had Cat Grant to mentor her as a journalist but I think Powergirl could fill that role as a mentor for her super heroism.

  • Jon - I would say has came closest but he has always felt like more of father figure to me than a real mentor.
  • Alex - Even though its her sister and her biggest human connection Alex has no idea what its like to have powers so that side is never really addressed.
  • Superman - I never felt it served the show that well having Superman around for any long period of time because you start to think well why don't we just have a Superman show. They also showed how much stronger he is compared to Kara which I thought was odd on Supergirl's show.
  • Mon-El - As much as I like him I don't think he should count because didn't everything he showed Kara he learn from her or future version of her or whatever lol.
Having Powergirl fit that role and then having insert between them competing ideology's. If they did do Powergirl comes from a Earth that has been destroyed then it wouldn't be a stretch to say she has killed before (I have no idea if she does this is the comics) so to have a hero argue that side against Kara could be very interesting because I find they often just take the cheap route and make that character the villain.

Well I'd be up for having Power Girl on the show. (no pun intended...) And I would love to have the comic look and origin even though this show tends to alter things around, such as with Reign and the World Killers.

The age difference can be explained simply that PG Kara was never in suspended animation. I floated the idea once that PG Kara could have reached Earth in her universe as originally intended, being a mentor and guardian to Kal-El. Then who knows, maybe something happened to him or there was this big fight that launched her out of her universe into 38s.

I do like the ruined Earth idea, as that also has strains of past SG story lines of Supergirl being made by a benevolent Luthor on another Earth that is then destroyed in her absence.

Or... they could do a living dead scenario where the entire world in now populated by the undead and they have to make sure no one ever goes there again. :sly:

I don't think Red Kara is going to be PG, for the main reason being the increased workload on Benoist for the episodes as well as for the FX teams that would have to put them into the same shot.

But, weren't they already floating a Power Girl in the last few episodes? I thought that girl from the cult, Tanya Spears, had the same name as a later incarnation of Power Girl?

Knowing the show, I think it would be more likely that they would go the route with Tanya Spears than introducing an older version of Prime Kara. Sad, since I would prefer PG Kara, as the thought of Alice Eve in the Power Girl suit is now a must-needs for me! She certainly has the 'tops' for it...

Someone do a photoshop, STAT!!:ilv:

If Supergirl actually introduces a Power Girl who looks like that I'll watch.

Pretty sure Kara's device only allows her to travel between Earth-1 & Earth-38. In any case, if Power Girl was propelled here [Earth-1] and ended up in the middle of nowhere, she may not become aware of Superman/Supergirl so soon.

If/When she then met Kara, either they'd then need to travel to Earth-1 and acquire Cisco's help or they'd have Brainy modify Kara's pendant to open up a different portal (more likely, cause I doubt a Power Girl introduction would be a crossover event).

I believe(?) the other Kara is intended to be themed around the Red Son Superman comics.

Isn't this literally the case in the comics anyway?

Could be a funny running joke of the season as well with the male characters and Alex getting caught looking at her chest.

She'll be like "HEY!!! My eyes are up here"

Eh, that'll be a bit weird though, right? That's essentially Alex eyeing up (an older) Kara. Power Girl is Kara, just older. I'd be very surprised if they had a scene between Alex and Power Girl; I know they're not biologically related or anything, but Kara is, for all involved purpose, Alex's sister, and Power Girl-Kara is simply an older version of Kara from a different Earth.

I totally agree with you if they were to use Melissa for Powergirl as well it would be weird but if its a different actress I think it would be fine. Power Girl might not have an Alex on there Earth and while im not wanting a new couple on the show I just think it would be a funny dynamic. Also remember her and Alex are only family through circumstance. Alex was so hilarious as a total dork after she slept with Sara so even if it never went that far I think you could have some funny similar interactions lol.

I know that - I've even said as much. I still think it would be awkward though.

If they got together, and did the deed, Alex would pretty much have the knowledge of what it's like to sleep with [her] Kara if/when she was older. This isn't Game of Thrones.

Put it a different way; if you had an adopted brother/sister who you grew up with for 20 (or so) years and you were very close with, but one of whom had an unknown identical twin that appeared on the scene. Something tells me the last thing on your mind would be a physical attraction to them.

If there’s a good, solid story that requires a near-exact replica of Kara, I suppose Power Girl fills the bill.

But it’s my impression that Supergirl (and the other DC Berlanti shows) often introduce characters simply because they have a comic book pedigree - to score, as it were, “fan service” points. And then the writers struggle (not always successfully) to fit a storyline to these pre-selected characters. This is bass ackwards.

Benefit of the doubt: there is a decent Power Girl narrative that would work nicely within the Supergirl template. But just generally, the show isn’t wanting for more costumed, super-powered co-stars. If anything, it could do with fewer...

Yeah I see where your coming from if it was a totally different actress I think it could be funny but if its Benoist then definitely no.

Yeah I don't want her just shoehorned in for fan service.

That's why I like the idea of a mentor slash competing ideology. I think if they did it right its something that could give that chrcater meaning in the majority of the season (we all know there are some filler episodes where they just do what they want lol).

You can scale there views all the way up the criminal ladder from a low level mugger attacking a small woman. Supergirl would just probably just grab him and tie him up for the police or drop him off herself. Now what if Power Girl was to break the mugger's arm first as a sort of showing how he made this little woman feel.

To some villain posing a city/world level threat where Supergirl would do everything she could to reason and try and convince the villain otherwise before fighting. Make Power Girl motives to actually kill that villain (not like Reign where she enjoys it or see's herself as above everyone) but make her very sad and full of sorrow after doing it, convey it like she's doing something she hates doing but she realises the tough call must be made sometimes and that she had to do that.

That dynamic could play out really well I think as long as they don't just really push Supergirl's views as the right one.

No. After Bizarra, Overgirl and soon Red Daughter, I’m over evil / antagonistic Kara doppelgängers.

Maybe in season 5?
