In my eyes, absolutely yes all the characters should return, but we need some new ones for the main focus, cant have Han and Luke, etc running around like they are in their 30's or whatever.

But they should all have roles in it in my eyes, wouldnt be the same without them.

Ive never forgiven Vector Prime for killing him so if they could just entirely forget that book id be grateful.
Dont remind me. I try to forget i read that damned book because of that :cmad: :csad:

While of course it's natural fans will speculate and vocalize what they want to see in 7,8 and 9, i think it's also important to keep an open mind and be open to the possibility that things could end up totally different than what we've read in EU. Just sayin'. We must let go of our attachments to characters and storylines :cwink:. I dont think there's a chance of avoiding disapointment and complaining, same as with the PT. It's more than likely some will find whatever ends up on the big screen to go against what they consider canon post ROTJ. We should all get ready for the storm lol.

I voted yes for the droids as they are an ever present. I'd also love to see Han and Chewie in the Falcon one last time, even if they didn't make it through the new trilogy. It seems like Luke and Leia will play some part regardless of what any of us think lol.

How has the EU handled Leia? Does she get trained in the Force?

I think she started and then basically gave it up after she had her kids. Like she never became a full fledged jedi.

Most seem to want in least Luke back

I can't see why anyone would not want the original cast to return.I mean it's called episode 7 for a reason. After 30 years I'm finally going to get to see the further adventures of Luke Skywalker and I want to see as much Hamill and the rest of the original cast as they'll give us.:jedi
:awesome:

I hope it will really be just them passing the torch. I don't want to see the further adventures of Han, Luke and Leia. They had their time. Give them some minor roles, Luke obviously is the Obi Wan type and let a new generation carry the movie.

Boba Fett star, Jeremy Bulloch, gives his thoughts on Star Wars Episode VII

"It would be lovely to see Boba Fett back!"

"The technology now exists to make his jet pack even more realistic and exciting. I'm sure if Boba Fett were to return they would go with someone younger, but I’m still fit and can jump around. I’d love to be involved in some way, maybe a cameo as an ageing Bounty Hunter in the corner somewhere."

 They don't have to dominate the pictures but I'd dig supporting roles for just about anyone. Would love to see a grizzled badass Solo and especially Luke in a mentor role. If I only get one it's Luke.

I think she started and then basically gave it up after she had her kids. Like she never became a full fledged jedi.

She became a Jedi Knight in Book 2 of The Dark Nest trilogy in like 2006. Though the timeline is kind of wonky... Luke basically considered her a full fledged Jedi Knight at the end of Dark Empire after she'd basically brought Luke back from the dark side. You know, the same way that Luke officially earned the rank of Knight... up until the end of ROTJ he was still Padawan/Apprentice rank.

Leia just focused on being President of the New Republic for a long time, then hung out with Han throughout the New Jedi Order series. Now she's kind of a wild card as a Jedi. Always hanging out with Han and she kinda does her own thing, Council be damned. Sort of like Qui-Gon Jinn in some ways.

Here is something I haven't seen:

Will Hayden Christensen return as force ghost Anakin? It is, after all, supposedly Anakin's series.

Could Yoda and, to a lesser extent, Ewan (as Kenobi) play roles as well, much like Obi's appearance in 5 and 6? It isn't unprecedented for the series

I think the older characters, save for Luke should not appear that much. Have the focus be on Luke and raising they new Jedi

Maybe depending on your age, I think a lot of people are under estimating the attachment to the OT characters. Maybe it is because this is primarily a comic book forum. A sequel featuring Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, and Princess Leia is license to print money.

The age of the actors being what they are, this should absolutely be the time to wrap up and lay the Skywalker / George Lucas storyline(s) (Episodes) to rest. After Episode 9, Disney can go hog wild with adaptions, new characters, new actors, new story lines etc. This time frame is probably the last chance they have for some of the OT actors as well.

I'm willing to guarantee Yoda will show up as a Force Ghost.(Remember "Yoda will always be with you"?)

Meh never read that book. In the EU books I read it seemed like she never became an official, full fledged Jedi. Granted this was all before the prequels were in full gear and Lucas had established all this new stuff about Jedis, the Sith, and the Jedi Order and Council.

Exactly. This is the last hurrah for the original cast.I hope Ep 7 focuses on them for the most part.Once the "torch is passed" at the end of this trilogy they can make sequels/spin offs of the new cast all they want.

Nah. I love the original trilogy and the characters within, but I also realize it's a really dumb idea to fill your franchise for kids with a bunch of geriatric actors just to pander to nerds on the internet. :yay:

Luke, Han, and Leia had their time to shine in the OT just like Anakin, Obi-Wan, and Padme had their time in the PT. Time to let a new crew have the limelight.

Hey,the Star Trek cast got six films.Let the Star Wars cast have as many!:woot:

Well, the story is basically that Leia didn't consider herself a full Jedi. Bit she dueled Luke to.a standstill in Dark Empire while coaxing him back to the lightside and repelled a Force attack from Palpatine in Dark Empire III: Empire's End. And in Ambush On Corellia Luke tells Leia she is a full Knight and gives her a new lightsaber while she is President of the New Republic. Most authors just seem to have been unable to get out of thinking of her as a politician. But Ambush On Corellia was written in the mid-90s.

I'd like to see most of the old cast return and hand things over to a new group of characters. I think it would be a huge missed opportunity to not have the old crew involved, especially since so many of them seem pretty eager to return,

Well yeah but she never really focused on her Jedi thing as much as being a politician, mom, etc.
