Should the Ninja Turtles kill their opponents? Should Ralph and Leo slice and dice their enemies?

Even though the damage would be largely bloodless, I say yes. I mean Wolverine's rampage in X2 was bloodless, but it was still awesome so I don't really have that much problem with bloodless slicing.

I mean probably not every little street thug, but against Foot Clan and other big enemies

Within reason. I'd say no for simple mooks. But tough opponents like Shredder, sure.

Can't really see Michelangelo and Donatello killing though. At least not deliberately.

YES !!!! They are ninja trained by Splinter to get revenge, challenge, and kill the Shredder for the death of Hamato Yoshi and Tang Shen. They were basically raised to kill. The who theme of TMNT was built on revenge.

In the original Mirage comics, the turtles killed the entire Purple Dragon Gang and the Shredder in the first issue, and also fought and killed the triceraton gladiators in issue 6 ( i think ), and numerous members of the foot.

I can see them kill if it's needed. Maybe some members of the Foot but not the Purple Dragons.

In the long haul it really depends on the tone because TMNT is so different now that even as a fan of their various eras, it's hard for me to justify any killings from the Turtles now.

this new film will be made with kids in mind so i doubt we will have the turtles killing anyone, will probably just get alot of action and ass kicking when required

What makes you say that? The people they got for this movie suggests otherwise.

when bay was talking about them being from another planet he said that KIDS will believe they really exist

which is an odd thing to point out but sounds like the audiance he has in mind is kids as well as fans

they will probably do something like bring in the rock soldiers from the 80s cartoon or the Utroms with robot bodys just so the turtles can use there weapons and wont be brutal like stabbing people

I always found it dumb and nonsensical when heroes don't kill. They are operating outside the law anyways. It's especially dumb and nonsensical when they are ninja assassins trained with bladed weapons.

Sure have them kill only when it is necessary otherwise just let the turtles beat the living hell out of the bad guys the whole movie. Maybe Splinter will give the turtles a moral lesson about when it is right & when it is wrong to kill.

I say no, only when it's absolutely necessary. It will already be difficult for giant, mutated Turtles, to be some day accepted by society. Being giant, mutated Turtles that kill, will make it even more difficult.

That's kinda funny. Splinter given them a moral lesson of when it is right and wrong to kill, when his main purpose of training them was to seek out and kill Oroku Saki/Shredder out of revenge.

That was back then. TMNT changed a lot over the years. I'd prefer if the Turtles aren't just a tool for Splinter to take revenge on Shredder. He should train them so they can protect themselves from human society, as they wouldn't understand and accept them. And if they finally meet with Shredder, it should just be fate that brought them back together. Not a mission of revenge.

My favorite line and scene from TMNT vol. one,
Issue one ;

Purple Dragon with the afro : Who are these guys ?

Purple Dragon with mohawk : I don't know, looks like some kinda freaks. But even freaks can bleed, cut em !!!

Leo : Yes, we can bleed......But so can you !!!

Leo swings his katana, next panel shows two switchblade flying in the air, and a splash of blood.

Caption : A police siren wails by, coming fast. When they arrive, they only find what is LEFT of the Purple Dragon Gang...........

Man, those turtles were so BAD ASS !!!

They are gearing this movie towards children most of all so they probably wouldn't want to send the wrong message to kids, so there will probably be a little preaching in it.

The first Movie got it right, stick to that.

It always pissed me off that the turtles will forever be seen as a " kids property ". Kids like X-Men, Batman and Spiderman which all more or less had some sort of death scene. But let Raphael run a sai through somebody, and we'll have the whole PTA in an uproar.

@Shredderx The Turtles, like it or not, have transcended past the original Mirage comics.

Only kill when necessary, like when an opponent poses a legitimate threat against them. Killing a thug that the turtles could beat blindfolded makes them harder to relate to.

Especially when you'd have Michelangelo, who's the surfer dude of the group, kill like it's the most normal thing in the world. That just doesn't work. Back then, when everyone was mean and angry, that was ok. But when you have one of them a tech geek, another one who would just like to party and one who lives by the Bushido code and honor, I just can't see them causing a high body count. Even Raph, who's the angry one of the group, doesn't like the way he is. Especially after almost bashing Mike's head in.

Thugs: No. They don't pose too much of a threat to the Turtles.

Shredder: Probably.

Foot soldiers: If the situation demands it.

Really the turtles should have different views on it. Leonardo being the honorable type, only kills when he sees it just (like Shredder). Raphael being more relaxed about it, but still not killing petty criminals. Michelangelo not kill at all (that wouldn't work with his depiction as a friendly, nice guy), and Donatello only kill when there is no other way.

Basically you have their views on killing correct, as it was in the original comics, except for Mike and Don. Mike wasn't big on killing, but he more likely to kill if he felt as though his brothers were in extreme danger. but Don was a borderline pacifist and the least clannish of his brothers, prefering to work on electronics, rather than practice like the rest.

Two of them use blunt weapons, but two of them use sharp ones... dont see how the meaning of the katanas and sais if they're not gonna use them to kill their enemies.

Yes, definitely! It's not like it needs to be a bloodbath but for once it would be really nice to see them actually use their weapons properly, of course still reasonably.
