Some of us may have heard of the Equal Oppurtunity to Govern amendment, which if it were passed, would allow foreign-born citizens who have been naturalized citizens for 20 years to run for President or Vice President. Do you think this should happen?

I support the amendement. We allow foreign-born citizens to run for Congress and the State Governorships, so why not do the same for the Presidency? I understand the counter argument that the US would be cedeing it's sovereignty, but if that is the case, then maybe we shouldn't allow foreign-born citizens to serve in any kind of government institution.

I don't see why not. Considering we love throwing out the whole America is a Melting Pot garbage all the time, but it doesn't apply to being President.

For the people saying no, remember, being able to run doesn't equal winning.

So your saying they should be a 'token'? :csad:

Not really. But the way I see it, I'll vote for the best man or woman for the job. It doesn't matter to me if they were born here or not. Think about, someone who came into this country when they were 3 months old cant run for President, that makes no sense to me. Its a ****ing technicality.

Jag just doesn't want me to run for President, what an *******.

No...that's just asking for trouble. It just widens the chance of getting someone dumber than Bush.

Christian Bale for President! :cmad:

No, we should, instead mandate that only celebrities can run for president so that everyone finally understands it is the biggest joke in the world and stops taking their elected officials seriously.

Or follow Lewis Black's proposal to elect a president: Throw a dart at a map of the United States, go into the jungle, find a monkey, take it on a plane, parachute it out to the location the dart hit, and whoever the first person the monkey touches, that is the new president.
