The Dark Knight Show Me Your SWAG :)

and whats more ****ed up? had i left my one and only Joker card in the tin? i would have lost that also. up to $2600 now.

Man, I do feel you. I wanted to go to that screening so much...really, though that's kind of a crappy thing to do to a fellow geek (it is bad for the geek karma), I think that you'll remember the screening forever. I know you only got to see it a couple days earlier than everyone else but I mean...the fact that you got to see the movie with a bunch of other people who were playing the game really does matter. You won't forget it.

I find it hard to believe that someone else didnt have a guest spot that was noble to give to you.

What's ****ed up about the situation? The fact that he's selling the reel? Or the fact that you traded it away to see the Dark Knight 3 days early?

There was another fella on here that had a reel. Some idiot told him he'd give him a seat if he traded the reel. Needless to say, the guy told him to go to hell, in so many words.

You need to stop with the pity party crap. You traded a ridiculously rare piece of film history, one of twelve in the world, for a seat in a movie theater. That's something you never should have even considered in the first place. So what if the guy that now has that collectible is selling it for thousands of dollars? In all honesty, in this situation, you're the one should have known better. You screwed up. Now it's his to do with as he pleases. Stop trying to villify him because of that.

I'm not trying to pile on, but I just almost threw up when I saw the reel on eBay. I live in Georgia...That's right, Georgia. I had no chance to even think about trying to go to one of the trailer screenings where these things were given out because I live in GEORGIA!

If I had gotten my hands onto that thing, it would be in a glass case in my living room. Man, I just can't believe it. I would have never traded the thing, but I also would have NEVER sold it if I could have actually managed to trade for it.

Wow that's depressing...these things always end up in the hands of people that don't appreciate them...

Like I said, I'm not trying to dump on Byte, we all have different value systems and obviously the screening was more important to him/her and that's fine...

*Fights gag reflex*

Personally though, I would have never parted with that...

You know I usually feel the same way, that is until I decided to sell my CFB mask on eBay. Some recently medical bills came my way and I needed to find the money somewhere. You'd be surprised how many people have to resort to this when they find themselves in a pinch.

True, good point...It's feasible there is a valid reason for selling the thing, but I would do my best to make it my last-ditch effort...

Again, this is just my opinion. That being said, opinions are like butts, we all have one...but some are better than others!

Sorry, couldn't resist...:oldrazz:

Maybe he will split it with you. That would be a semi-honorable thing to do. On the other hand, you did not have to work that hard to get it - you actually got to see the trailer versus some of us that never had a chance. You got memories and stories (yes, even this one), and they will last much longer than a piece of cellulose.

watching a movie 3 days early isnt a pinch.. and like I said in my previous post I find it very hard to believe that nobody had an extra spot they were willing to give up.. I remember the day of, many people were posting at various screening saying they have extras.

I don't know...there were a lot of screenings with tons of space left, but the ones in the bigger metros filled up very quickly and they were much harder to find a place in. I don't doubt the veracity of this claim.

I mean, I agree on a lot of points. I think memories last longer than things, so I can see why it would be more important to one to have the memory of going to kickingandscreening. At the same time, you'd probably have to pry the thing from my cold dead hands, and even then, I would become a zombie and eat your brain for attempting to pry it from those cold, dead hands. But I dunno...I mean how can you say you wouldn't have done the same thing unless you had the exact same situation in front of you? Also, I think it's important that he thought he was giving the reel to someone who would treasure it. I've seen people on these boards do some really nice things for other people because they think those people are deserving of it. I mean...I've seen people give away stuff that could go for a fortune on eBay and that they really like just because they think the person they gave it to will appreciate it spectacularly.

Lets bring this thread back to wut it was inteded. Heres some pics of my SWAG. Im selling one of the Why So Serious? posters if anyones intrested.

hey, guys, lets not turn this into something that parts us real geeks here. WsS, dump all you want. the fact that I had it, and wanted to see the best movie this year with fellow geeks was my decision, not yours. this ain't about me. it's a lot bigger than me. but I have the right to complain when he said he was giving it back as a noble gesture and now I see it for 3 grand. you looked. and to cinema, thanks for "defending" me. I know you would have had a different take on the event. but it's strange, I met fantastic ppl here during the hunts, and thinking some of these ppl would cherish these like i would, I am a bit naive. I've been burned before, at this site too. remember some of you who needed a better copy of said reel? you guys have been great. and I take your prase and criticism quite seriously. so, easy on me aye?

thank you sir!!

Oh well Byte...man, I just can't believe you traded something so rare for a theater seat. But, to each his own...I'm sure the experience of seeing an awesome screening was great. But yeah, if the guy owns it legit now, he has the right to do whatever he wants to with it.

Yeah, byte. I think the problem was you thought you could be decent men in an indecent time.

I'm really not trying to dump on you. I know you probably feel ****ty enough as is about the situation. Don't get me wrong. It's a lousy situation to be in. But the thing is, as I've come to learn, is that these days you just can't place that kind of trust in anyone outside of closest friends and family. Especially in a situation where you're dealing with something like that reel. Something less prized, sure. Someone once said that people are basically good. Well. Some of them are. But most of them these days are not. As the Joker says "When the chips are down, these civilized people will eat each other." And that about sums up what'll happen when a person gets their chance to gets their hands on one of those reels. And as much as I'd love to blame this guy and declare him the *****ebag of the boards, I can't. Because it's what people do. It sucks. And it's wrong. Especially considering that he told you he'd return it. But that's just human nature for you.

Sorry if I came across like an *******. Guess it's just my realist speaking.

And who knows. Maybe his conscience will get the better of him. And he will return it. But the color green makes people do bad things.

And believe it or not, there is a bright side: You've learned a lesson, hard as it may be. You still have the joker card. You have the memories from the screening. And the thrill of being one of twelve people in the world that won those reels.

Not to mention: Karma is a *****. And what goes around does eventually come back around.

-WsS?

well in that case WsS, lesson learned. we're cool. he took the best of us and tore 'em down. lol gotcha cinema! ;)

I would've sold the reel in a heartbeat. I could care less about any sort of sentimental value. I can display ALL of my other swag, but the reel is completely useless unless you somehow have access to the equipment needed to screen it. That guy made a FAT chunk of change - and good for him. Byte, it blows, but you've been had. It's hard to feel your pain when I would've gladly done the same as this eBay chump. Sorry buddy.

Alright, so this does not include anything that isn’t directly viral related. It also only consists of viral hardware so to speak. Although I have almost 5 gigs of TDK files, there are no print outs here. Also no reproductions, no posters or DVDs or anything from cereal boxes etc.

With that in mind, here is what I have to show from the viral:

Even though I received the Dent campaign materials in the mail and met the Dent mobile, I still didn’t have any of the Text buttons or stickers! So Thank you to Redd, DanTheDevil, LeroyTheGreat38, and Krinshaw2. Also thank you Cinematheque for setting up the Oracle chats and being so understanding, and to zhbatman for being my oracle and helping me get my stamped Joker card.

I’ve given away all but one of most everything I’ve received, but I still have 10+ Third edition times. They’re free (except for shipping) if anyone wants them. I know there were some people who were interested but I never got their addresses. Just PM me with your info if you need one.

Does anyone have a scan or nice big pic of any of the Slipknot licenses? I'd like to try to make my own since I never got one from batmon.

I can offer the files I collected to make up my GPD folders and the tickets and fortunes.
