watching this tonight.... the first scorcesse movie i actually see in theaters lol

This movie is still reeling through my head. I was shaking on the car ride home. Scorsese has left a huge impression on me. I mean, jeez, this will take a second viewing. Carmine pretty much explained what I felt during the film.

This movie is a mind ****er. I thought I knew what was coming, but boy, was I wrong.

Yeah, it felt very Vertigo-ish with a slight dash of some Maltese Falcon.

I felt that I should have known what the twists were but I had no idea prior to the actual reveal.

SOunds like Fun I might see this either Tomorrow night or Sunday.

I just got a text from a friend who saw it saying that he wants to see it again ASAP. Tomorrow, I'm going straight from a baketball tournament so hopefully I don't fall asleep in the theater.:o

I hope you like it then. I also hope you don't know a thing about this film. And don't read any more reviews.

Yeah, now that you mention it. It really does remind me of Vertigo.

But the flashbacks sequences were unlike anythink I've ever seen on film. Just incredibly well done.

I really loved the
very long panning shot of the soldiers shooting the Germans down by the fence. The lighting when the first entered the abandoned church was awesome too.

Oh **** yes. All the WWII flashbacks make me really want to see Scorsese take on a war movie.

Saw it this morning, wow. Amazing film. Can't wait to see it again. I did not see the twist coming at all at the end lol. 9/10

Wow talk about a mind ****. The movie was flat out great. I never read the book before and the twist was jaw dropping. I figured it was going to be a big one but not what it was. Also during the little interrogation scene did anyone notice that [BLACKOUT]when he goes to get the women a glass of water, when she picks it up to drink it, the glass isn't even there.[/BLACKOUT]

I really enjoyed this film, looked great and had a fantastic vibe, like a contemporary version of a 60's thriller. But I'm shocked to hear how surprised some people were by the twist. I called it when I saw the first trailer...

Best movie I have ever seen. I'm still not sure I understand it all.

I kinda think he wasn't crazy.... his last few lines to Chuck make me think this

Sadly, I heard some women telling their boyfriends that the movie wasn't as good as they thought it would be or it sucked.

That's the impression I was under. I figured he only said that so they can do whatever to him only because he couldn't live with pain of what really happened.

I thought it was pretty obvious after watching the trailer that...

DiCaprio was the 67th patient, the conspiracy theory always turns out to be a delusional episode of the person in question

Film didn't disappoint, but nothing in the movie was suprising. Just good directing.

I think
it all being in his head kind of makes the whole movie pointless to some people
which IMHO, is why the reviews are mixed. You either love the twist or hate it.

Also Am I the only one who got a Batman:Arkham Asyulm feel to the movie? Especially when that one shirtless patient jumps on Leo's back. lol

I called the twist early, also. But, it is still fantastically done. This is a great film, and I like to think of it as a bit of a mesh between Marty's Cape Fear remake (in regard to grit) and a Hitchcockian thriller (Vertigo especially jumps out to me in that regard).

The way it was shot was beautiful, the story flowed really well and was incredibly clever, acting was top notch, and it just hit you on all cylinders.

Yeah, I sure as **** saw the twist coming, and I'll also be the first to admit that it is not an original twist by any means. I must have seen or read a twist like that a bunch of times before. But a lesser movie would have stopped right after the ''lighthouse-confrontation''. Instead, the movie carried on for another 15/20 minutes, delving deeper into Teddy's damaged psyche. The incredible tragedy with his wife and children, and also him being forced to repeat the awful truth. I have heard some say that there was too much explaining in the end, Ben Kingsley told the entire story and then Teddy was forced to tell it again. But I thought that was the point: the complete and horrible truth needed to be explained time and time again to Teddy. And as I said, the ending is oddly soothing. It's better for him that way.

I haven't been this absorbed in a movie for a long time, Shutter Island's vise-like grip never once let me go. I will go and see it again in a few weeks time, this is a movie that deserves repeated theater viewings.
