Even though most people had an idea of how the movie would end (or more specifically, a general hypothesis based on the process of elimination), I was just amazed with all of the visuals, the camera work, storytelling elements, cinematography, the dialogue, and how everything came together.

It's not a perfect film, but I promise you, it will become a modern classic in a few years...It could very well stay strong for next year's Oscars.

I was bored out of my f'ing mind watching this.

And for awhile, I was wondering if David Lynch ghost directed this with all the cuts, and imagery I didn't feel worked.

Saw this last night. Really liked it. Strong performances across the board, and it is genuinely creepy throughout without going over the top. Another winner for Leo and Scorsese.

9/10

A few scenes felt a bit David Lycnh-esque, but they made way too much sense to be Lynch's work. :p

Does not compute. Sorry.

I felt more Kubrick than I did Lynch. Kubrick's visuals always make sense over the course of the film. Lynch's are very abstract. Lynch is more like a painter as a director in that way.

Let me put it this way. Soon as the movie started I went (Oh so he is Not spoiling it cus its the ending) and then was bored for 3 hours as I was hit with scenes and camera work that to me just honesty was not to my taste. And Leos annoying Bosten accent yet again.

Course I've never been a fan of Leo or Martin. Ever. Both of their movies have never ever impressed me. And people love The Departed. Which is no where near as great as the movie it takes it's best scenes from.

And Spider-fan I didn't feel Kubrick while watching this. The cuts and framing felt more rushed and random then what we ever saw from Kubrick.

Fair enough. Though the film did have a couple of twists. The first one may have been predictable to an extent however the second one is extremely difficult to detect, so Im not sure how you would have come to that conclusion within the first 15-30 minutes.

The ending to 2001: A Space Odyssey has a lot of brief and random stuff, lol. I could also cite some scene from A Clockwork Orange.

I watch a hell of a lot of cop shows, and know tropes and hints and twists like the back of my hand. I can honestly tell where something is going before the first act is even close to being done.

And really all I know is if I'm bored. And I get a headache from the movie. I'm not going to like it. So no one is going to like my rating.

There is one thing I liked, and that was Leos line at the end. Which I then had to explain to my mom what he meant.

Fair enough, but I just disagree with your assessment. No hard feelings

Like I said, let's hope Inception lives up to this film. But it's possible. Leo's performance here was powerful and sad.

Loved this movie. Everyone who liked it have already said plenty times why this movie is so good, so I won't bother. But like someone has said earlier in the thread, I don't think this movie really has a twist. [BLACKOUT]I think it was pretty obvious to people why Teddy was there and it was written that way for a reason. The point of the movie was the journey and how the pieces fitted together to answer that question, "why is he at Shutter Island?"[/BLACKOUT] Another masterful film by Marty.

Dammit. I keep thinking about all the other things that happened earlier in the movie and all of the little pieces of dialogue and dream sequences with double-meanings that I couldn't put all together until it was too late..

I've gotta try and see this again this weekend.

Just saw it and am still blown away. Kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. The ending was genius. 9/10

OMG, I just watched the movie a second time, and that ending really sunk in deeper with me.

Actually, watching it a second time, knowing the ending, is like watching it for the first time all over again. I found myself noticing every scene, every background, and every little detail a completely different way.

I highly recommend--for anyone who's seen this movie once already and enjoyed it, I hope you quickly pay to see it a second time while it's still fresh.

That glass of water trick was awesome.
In the first viewing, I thought I was just picturing things...I thought it was in my head.

On the second viewing, I knew what I saw was really a great setup for putting together the pieces.

Damn....Shutter Island...third viewing....I think it's gonna happen. :D
