Shyamalan's "Split" (James McAvoy)

I was told the twist and let me say it's ****ing incredible. Highly suggest you watch it if you like Shyamalan's early films.

Yeah, I looked it up yesterday after watching the Double Toasted review. I had some interest before, but now I really want to see it.

I read the twist, but I still don't see how it's a big deal or relevant to the story? It's hard to say without seeing it yet, but it reads like a bait and switch. :funny:

Is it really:

A pseudo-sequel to Unbreakable?

Yes. Which means they have the option of now doing a crossover if they want to.

Wow, I read the twist, most of it sounds bonkers and not in a good way...but that very last scene, though. Huh. It's gonna get people talking, that's for sure.

Is it really a twist ending or just a surprise one? A twist ending to me changes how the details played out from the movie you just saw, like Sixth Sense and Fight Club. To me, take the surprise ending out, and the movie doesn't really change.

It's not a twist ending but a surprise one!!

Acting was great but if you're expecting for a Nolan or 6th sense twist...

....this ain't it!!

Basically the twist is saying that something that happened prior was not just a fluke. It's a common phenomenon.

The surprise is beyond dumb and was downright ridiculous.

Shyamalan shared universe.

I hear you.

When I first saw 6th Sense..... I was telling everyone to see it and I wanted to see it again with them and numerous time with different friends just to see their reaction at the ending.

With this, I'ts good to see it once and I will not see it again.

So...

Would Samuel L. Jackson be an evil Nick Fury bringing together Shyamalan villains?

I did not read any spoilers for this because I LOVE M Night's early work.

I freaking CHEERED as the credits rolled...like an idiot...didn't care about what a fool I looked like...I cheered, and currently feel like a little kid who just opened the Christmas present he wanted the most.

This will be my favorite movie of 2017. Nothing is going to fill me with the joy I felt as I left that theater just now.

I wonder if this is going to be another fluke like Sixth Sense and he'll go back to making typically crappy Shaymalan movies after this? :funny:

Sixth Sense, Unbreakable, Signs, the Visit, and now Split, he's not untalented.

Split took in 14 million on Friday, and looking at 34 mil for the weekend surpassing earlier expectations. Budget for the film was 10 million, so this good news if you're an M. Night fan. Hopefully he stays in the foray of small budget films, being given bigger budgets didn't do him any favors.

Me too. Good lord me too.

I saw this the other day and I like it. It's not OMG amazing or anything but it's solid. The Sham Man is back!

Great twist too.

The guy is talented. The Sixth Sense, Signs, Unbreakable... these are great films. He just went through a funk because of his over inflated ego. He went a bit pretentious and over indulgent. He was humbled and now he's got better from it. He's scaled it all back a bit.

Although I didn't like the digital photography in some scenes, the framing of some of the shots was beautiful. The work in his little fortress thing was really nice.
