I'm a girl who wears glasses. I've got a lot of bigger issues with my looks than wearing glasses and am rather fond of my specs, but I'm getting sick to death of this now. Recently a lot of people have been commenting on who I look like or remind them of and it is always: Meg from family guy (a worse insult I cannot imagine) Velma from scooby doo and Daria etc.

Can people not see what I look like past my specs? If I never wore them I doubt they would ever think "You know if she were to put on glasses she would look just like..."

Gah, like I really need to be compared to Meg. Has anyone else ever had anything like this? Even with other features such as hair colour? It's really starting to get to me :(

When I had red/blonde curly hair, people told me I looked like Chelsea Clinton constantly. I hated it.

But, people telling you that you look like someone non-flattering is not the cause or blame of self esteem issues. It only gets to you because you let it. People around here tell me I look like Davey Havok, which I think is awesome and hilarious.

I've worn glasses most of my life, and people used to call me all sorts of names. But the most often-repeated nickname was "Opie", because my red hair reminded people of Ron Howard during his "Mayberry" days.

Girls with glasses are cute.

I dyed my hair black in the tenth grade. I was told I look like Kane. Wanna see what he looked like back then?

My advice? You're a cute girl. If all they see are the glasses, then they're wasting your time.

I've had eye troubles ever since the first grade, which is when I first had to start wearing glasses. I'll be honest with you- I was unhappy about them up until I got contacts halfway through my freshman year of high school. I know the wise advice is to ignore what others say about your glasses, but I also know how hard it can be. For me, I simply flat out look better without glasses, PERIOD. If you feel that you do, too, and are able to use contacts instead, I highly recommend it. It helped me feel so much better about myself.

Just wear them... you'll be one of those people who look so different from your high school years and shock everyone with your late bloomosity.

When I had my hair much longer, it seemed everyone I ran into had to say that I looked like Harry Potter... after the 5th person, it starts to get real annoying.

I've been told I look like and have similar mannerisms to Zach Braff. Well, a blond Zach Braff.

I dont know how to feel about this . . . .

Back in the day when I had a 'stache and goatee my coworkers all said I looked like robin hood.

lol. You're worried about looking like a cartoon character? If anything, I'd say it could be your hairstyle and not the glasses.

What, you don't like Meg..? I'd like her in real life

Gee, the worst I got when I wore glasses was being called "four-eyes" in third grade. But people who say you look like those girls are probably trying to be funny. And maybe it' not just the glasses but the attitude or clothes you wear which make people say that. I mean, do you ever wear sweatshirts with skirts? Do you have an "I hate the world" personality (Daria)?

Most people are losers, so just get over it, and rock those glasses like Tina Fey!

I wear Nelson Rockefeller-type glasses on occasion, and I've been told I look better with glasses than without.

Noon, there are a whole lot of guys who find women who wear glasses irresistible. To the point that it's become one of the more common fetishes out there (right up there with foot fetishes) and even has a whole subgenre of porn dedicated to it. I guess my point is that you're a pretty girl who has nothing to be concerned about and you'll have absolutely no problem finding a good guy who will worship you as a goddess (and I guess a secondary point is that you could always do glasses fetish porn if you wanted to pick up some coin and feed your narcissistic more pleasure-centered side at the same time). So, fret not. You're beautiful. </James Blunt>
