Siege

What the hell could Wolverine even beat Superman with? His claws aren't made of kryptonite or magic, he doesn't have super strength, and he has no Pulitzers.

He couldn't beat him in poker, Superman would just X-Ray the cards and always know what Logan was playing at the time.

Heck Supes would even win in drinking games. :p

Nobody had heard of Blade, yet he carried three solo films-- two of which were actually good. Truth is, any character can carry a solo film with the right production, script, cast, and director. Since Marvel started producing their own films in-house, the only screw-up they've made is Punisher: War Zone.
Keep a "wait and see" attitude and ignore the rumors. Start worrying about casting when the actual cast is announced.

Marvel didn't produce that movie, that was Lionsgate rushing production so they won't lose the rights to the character. So far, Marvel is only 2-0 but hopefully 3-0 in 4 months.

I have an almost daily argument with a co-worker who thinks that Wolverine can beat Superman

He also likes the Wolverine movie, John Leguizamo movies, and thinks that Final Fantasy X is better than VII.

But he's kind of the reason why I've been feeling apathetic about Wolverine lately as well.

That's like the argument we get at work from time to time when a new guy starts, really likes Star Wars, finds a comic book calendar in my office, and proceeds to tell me how Jedi would stomp anybody there.

My answer? The Spectre. =l

Actually, I'd be hard pressed to find anybody a Jedi actually could beat.

They felt I was being unfair with the Spectre, so I also told them their silly lightning might just make people like Thor laugh... And then call down his own lightning on them. =l

Any body that was a comic fan six years prior to the Blade movie knew of Blade. Rise of the Midnight Sons was a hugely popular event that launched 4 new books. It's success led to the Blade movie.

That doesn't matter anyway. Wesley Snipes was in Blade, he was hot off of Demolition Man and Passenger 57 by the time Blade was starting to go. Snipes "was" (I only say that because of where he's at now) a HUGE action star in the 90's.:yay:

Most people are not comics fans. Most people who saw Blade did not know he was a comic book character.

:huh:It's in the opening credits, "based on the Marvel comics character" or the Marvel logo before the credits.

It's cannon that Luke alone took out over a million renegade troopers basically at the same time on a Tattooine like planet in the extended universe books. Like, the dude literally drops in from a ship near orbit, falls a ****load, hits the ground with such a force it obliterates any of the troppers nearby (which he drops in the most heavy armed / guarded LZ, where there was something like over two thousand watching it) just by the force of his fall. He then proceeds to completely rip through a giant trooper base as wave after wave after wave of troopers are sent his way as he makes it to the core of the building, ignites the core, and blows up the whole facility.

Now granted, Luke was the (second) greatest Jedi of all time, but still.

The Manic works in mysterious ways.

I hope he won't land the role; I'd rather have that The Office actor win it instead of him.

The first Blade movie did not have a Marvel logo before the credits. And even if it did, to see the credits you'd have to already be in the theatres. People went to see the movie because as you said Snipes was still a star at that point, it had lots of action, and vampires.
