Siege

Damn Nightbeetle you're like a News Beetle to me! ;) How are you this fast lol?! :D Great job nonetheless!

Yeah, NightBeetle, I really appreciate the fact that you love posting news and previews so quickly. People used to sporadically before and I tried to do it for a while, but it just got to be a chore. No one's been as quick and reliable, especially with previews, as you've become, though.

As for Siege, I hope Bendis really delivers a tight, action-packed series. Siege: The Cabal read pretty briskly and had a good chunk of action, so that's encouraging.

The only problem plaguing Front Line is the plain and simple fact that Sally Floyd is a horrible character. But I found Secret Invasion: Front Line to be pretty cool. Pretty much for the complete lack of Sally Floyd and focusing more on the far more interesting Ben Urich (who I like).

I just can't get into the Frontline stuff. I Loved Civil War: Frontline until the last couple issues... and then I hated it! I tried WWH and Secret Invasion but neither could capture my attention beyond the first issue. So I figure I'll skim the first issue of Siege's Frontline but if it doesn't capture my attention immediately then I won't bother with it. I'm not paying $16 for a title I just don't care about that probably won't add to the event all that much anyway.

It's Siege: Embedded, actually. [Vanilla Ice]See, it's totally different![/Vanilla Ice] :awesome:

Yeah but you see... [Vanilla Ice]Anything less than the best is a felony[/Vanilla Ice]

CUP O' JOE/DOODLES: The "Siege" Cover Process

20fxdh3.jpg

When I was first offered the chance to illustrate the four connecting "Siege" covers, I originally turned Tom Brevoort down. For me, the task of doing one of these connecting cover gigs is really a very big project. I like to put a lot of thought behind them, and ultimately, if I don't have a layout that excites me, I will, ten times out of ten, turn the job down. Of course, as more often happens than not, the idea of doing the piece stayed with me. Admittedly, I wasn't thinking all that hard about it, but the thought of it was there, nevertheless.

This inevitably led me to go over some of my old layouts. I try to keep all of my unused ideas just in case one works as inspiration on some other piece later down the road. As it turns out, I had a bunch of unused "Iron Man" cover layouts that I figured I would eventually use some day. Some were left over from my sketches for the Iron Man animated DVD, and some were just generic evergreen covers. Amongst that pile o' stuff, I found this sketch which I did about two years ago.

Ew those faces are hideous. Heres hoping that they get changed.

So wait, Sentry teams up with Thor, Cap and Stark? Looks like it there.

Ugh, I hope Sentry doesn't change sides and saves the heroes at the last moment, cementing the Sentry as the greatest superhero to become a pet project of Bendis EVAR.

That totally wouldn't surprise me.

Either Sentry realizes Osborn is in fact a **** and sides with the heroes, or Void comes out to play, I'll put money on it right now.

I think that if this is true, Bendis deserves to be put through water boarding and be physically castrated without any pain meds.

I wouldn't mind if Void comes back. In fact I'd love it if Void comes back. And so far there has been a lot of hints that he will.

Gonna dues ex his way into saving everything, then going back to being completely useless, just like every other appearance he has.

It was interesting to see Quesada's process behind the covers, but the finished product doesn't look all that great to me. The Sentry looks the best, which mostly tells me that Joe Q's idea about "iconic" super-close-ups doesn't work--it just leaves the other covers looking cramped and awkward.

And I don't think we should read too much into the cover design. The Sentry doesn't necessarily join the Big 3; he could just be an important character in the story.

Chances are, if the Sentry realizes he's been doing work for a madman who promotes his Void-esque behaviour, he'll just fly into space where he can't harm anybody for a while.

Or make the world forget about him again, while he contemplates who and what he is.

Or the Void will come back, which would rock.

Or it'll be proven the Void has been influencing the Sentry heavily.

Void, please. Really, that's the only thing that could make the Sentry even remotely interesting to me: turn him into the Void.

I liked how they actually described Robert as originally deciding to become the Void, with the Sentry being the byproduct of his thoughts that he should never be successful in what he wants to be.

The Sentry is plenty interesting to me. However, they always write him so oddly, and dumb, it's hard to like.

Honestly, he scales his powers back so that he doesn't trigger Void emergence. So what does that mean? He just pulls punches, and nothing can hurt him. Apparently forgetting his SCALES HIS POWER BACK, meaning he's literally just a lesser form of himself most of the time. I'd like to see them utilize that fear to bring him down to Thor levels.

If it's Clint, I'll be done with Avengers until Bendis is gone.

Your feelings perplex me:huh:, Comic Book death is meaningless, you know that. At best if Clint of even Pym die, they will stay dead for a year or 2. Hell everytime someone dies now, Im surprised people even care anymore.

Yeah but under Bendis' pen Clint has already died and come back twice. I could understand someone being sick of it (luckily I no longer read that crappy NA book heh heh).

A little bird told me that...

Siege ends basically exactly the same as The Departed/Infernal Affairs

Don't know who it involves though.

Hawkeye puts an arrow in Norman's face as he gets off an elevator.

So I guess Obama isn't president anymore...according to Siege:Cabal lol
