Siege

Osborn is trying to destroy Asgard because they're the last legitimate threat to his power. He has no control over them. He doesn't have to worry about the good Avengers because he's got his Dark Avengers. He doesn't have to worry about other heroes because he's got the Initiative. He doesn't have to worry about the X-Men because they're keeping to their island since "Utopia."

But the Asgardians have mostly heroic leanings, are immensely powerful, and believe themselves to be above the laws of man. Their ex-king Thor is one of the most powerful beings in the universe. That kind of power scares other people in power; we've actually seen this exact storyline play out during Jurgens' King Thor saga with a cabal of high-powered business leaders, in fact.

Do you know if Osborn has commented on the Eternals since he took over the country? I remember Stark trying to get them to sign the SHRA a while back lol

Why would the Dark Avengers follow him this time? I can understand Ares and Sentry but why would the rest be so willing to go and get their asses handed to them? Like does someone like Bullseye really think he has a shot facing off against the Asgardian gods?

I don't think so, but I haven't read the lion's share of the Osborn stuff in Dark Reign. Siege is the very first DR title I'm reading that he's a principle character in, in fact. I had no interest in Dark Avengers or the X-Men crossover or anything like that. Closest I got to an Osborn comic last year were Avengers: The Initiative and Thunderbolts, both of which had Osborn as more of a far-off presence in the background than a major player.

The Eternals are a bit different from the Asgardians in that they're spread all over the world and they tend to blend in a bit more.

"That's it, you're done. You're free to live your life how you want it after this"

Or something like that. It was in siege 1, spelled out quite clear. This is the last time they have to do anything for Norman and after this they're free to do whatever they want.

Do they still have the "do what I say or die" nanites in them from Thunderbolts? Otherwise I don't see how he can really tell them what to do anyway.

Yeah, they're still pumped full o' nanites

No, they're not. The nanites were disabled when Skrull Captain Marvel destroyed Thunderbolts Mountain during Secret Invasion. Moonstone comments on it in the Thunderbolt's arc directly following ("Burning Down The House") I believe. Osbourn has moved from threats to bribery with the Dark Avengers.

Just sayin'. :cwink:

Yea they get something ridiculous like 1 million dollars a month or something. Actually, it might be 1 million a week :wow: Can't remember now.

He also promised them full pardons and all that too.

Speaking of which, Im assuming Siege will be the final story of Dark Reign. Since thats the case, has what happened with Moonstone in Ms. Marvel been addressed anywhere? I know the timeline for that series was out of whack bc of her death and resurrection but Carol took back the name ,and nearly killed Moonstone. It looked like Moonstone was going to stop parading around as Ms. Marvel and try to redeem herself. BUT here in Siege she's right alongside the Dark Avengers as if nothing happened. Has any of what happened to her been touched anywhere? Like did they show her at least telling Norman she was done and him forcing her to stay on? Or did Marvel just ignore the developments that occurred with her character?

How dare you correct me! We gotta fight now.

Thanks for the clarification :D, I thought I read something about them being turned off but I have the worst memory when it comes to this stuff.

OOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!

Just read my advanced copy of Siege #2, and that's all I've got to say about that! There is one heckuva shocking moment in it!

I've provided spoilers before, but for this, I wouldn't want to take anything away from the moment of seeing/reading it yourself!

Just had to vent my excitement a little bit somehow!

Vent it with spoiler tags...you know you want to:hehe:.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, [BLACKOUT]I hope that Maria Hill doesn't get killed.[/BLACKOUT]

Damn it, now I'm gonna be anxious for the issue all day at work. Just like your quote from Thor #606 is making me anxious for that issue. :argh:

Apparently Noh-varr's Heroic age name is: [blackout] The Protector![/blackout] ^^;

I thought in the recent NA Annual, they said it was going to be Captain Marvel?

Eh i didn't read the comic, this guy just said (another forum) that the name was told in Siege: Sieging Asgardian Heroes and Villains or something like that. =P

I think that came out today so I haven't seen it. It could be just a label they slapped on him.

DANG IT! I gotta tell somebody!

Okay, so I'll tell you about the Siege ish, but the Thor ish is out today, so you can just pick that one up and read it :)

So here's spoilers for Siege #2. I'm only posting them here cuz even those who do choose to read the spoilers will, I think, only want to pick the ish up more!

My description will never do justice to how dramatically it's portrayed in the issue, but here's basically the big moment of what happens.

So, Ares gets convinced by Baldur and Heimdall that he's being played by Osborn. So he attacks Osborn. But at Norman's word Sentry swoops in and starts wailing on Ares. Every time Ares tries to hit him, Sentry hits him first. He's just owning him as they battle across Asgard as Sentry flies Ares or throws Ares all over the place.

Suddenly.... Sentry grabs ares.... AND RIPS HIM IN HALF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It's one of the goriest panels I've ever seen in a non-MAX issue

I got a total flashback to when Sentry did the same thing to Carnage somewhere back in the early issues of New Avengers!

Anyways, blew my mind! Easily one of the best scenes that Bendis has written for Sentry.

There's a lot more stuff in the issue as well, such as the mobilizing of the good guys which has both Cap and Fury moments, but I'll leave that for you guys to read. This issue is a lot better bang for your buck than the last one, with much less filler in it.

And just for you Boulder, Maria Hill is fine, at least for this issue :)
