Siege

Great issues. Osborn being outted' again like that was akin to being caught with your pants down. But I was still thinking his fall should have come much worse than just this event. And we can certainly see that the Sentry.. I guess we can officially call him the Void now, is on the way out. Still hoping that Thor gets to handle this, but something's telling me Bendis ain't gona' give it to us that way.

I just remembered. Why didn't Ben Ulrich get a 'toldja so' in there. He should have been infront of a camera yelling it to America.

Who said anything about answers? I'm just talking about supporting the heroes rather than promoting their villains or trying to conscript them into military service or otherwise being jerks to them. The government and the public in general turned on any heroes who refused to follow their arbitrary (and, as we'd later see, ineffective) registration act following Stamford. Marvel-Obama's willingness to trust the heroes while sending US military forces to support them by bringing down HAMMER's Helicarrier shows that the government is once again willing to accept the heroes on their terms and help rather than hinder them. It's about the spirit of cooperation, not the government having answers or being flawless or anything.

My point was comics don't usually depict governments as being reliable in meting out justice. It wouldn't matter who is in charge.

The government is depicted as being just because Obama is President.

Nah. I think the government is being depicted as just because Marvel is setting up their Heroic Age new status quo. Which to me will be a relief after the wretched Dark Reign.

Probably because he's not a threat to the universe, only to Earth.

Problem being that Molecule Man couldn't do squat against Sentry, so I don't think any reality manipulators (which essentially Reece is) would do much good. Tribunal or Eternity - sure. But not Franklin or Galactus or someone.

Though it would be helpful if Reed could just whip out the old Ultimate Nullifier. If Sentry is just an insane guy, then he won't know what it can do, attack anyway, and be nullified. If he is possessed by the Wrath of God, then he'll know exactly what it is, and back off.

Franklin is Celestial Light. He once banished Mephisto for at least a year or so. Maybe sending Void to an alternate universe for a year would at least give Reed / Strange / Pym some time to come up with a backup plan. :D

First;

"Siege will be a very contained event, with only the main Siege series, and Embedded".

Then;

"There will also be tie-ins with the avengers comics."

Now;
"By the way, we're about to unleash an entire wave of Siege mini's and one shots"

Oh, and don't forget "There won't be any big events in the coming years, and they will all be much more contained like World War Hulk was".

Can't wait to see what big blockbuster event by Millar and Bendis they have in the works for 6 months down the road.

Sorry, I know I'm late to respond to this, but I have no sympathy for people who complain about events not being contained enough. The ONLY Siege books I'm buying are Thor (which I buy anyway) and the main event itself. And I'm following the story just fine. You don't need to get every Siege spin-off mini and oneshot to get the whole story. If anyone does feel the need to get every single comic with the Siege banner over it, it's only to satisfy their own completism.

So that's why I don't get it when fans complain about Marvel or DC "making" them buy every single tie-in for their latest crossover. No they don't, no one's holding a gun to your head. It's not Marvel or DC's fault if people are suckers.

Well I Wanted Siege Embedded as well as Thor and Siege, but, the LCS hasn't gotten any of the main Siege books yet but I have the Thor's books "Natch" and Embedded #2 so far.

I don't know man, that whole Final Crisis thing made some of the tie in's manditory. If you didn't read that Superman thing, then you'd have no idea wtf was going on when Supes comes in and saves the day with a f**king song.

Oh yeah, Superman Beyond was pretty much essential to Final Crisis. But what about Rogues' Revenge or Superman and the Legion of Three Worlds?

Clearly, only one man can save us from the Void: Cyclops. He just has to absorb the Void into his own mind and contain it there forever, because Cyclops can do with his mind what Emma Frost and Charles Xavier cannot.

I'm not complaining that theres a bunch of tie ins and spin offs. I'm complinaing because this is the third or fourth time Marvel has said "this event is goign to be small and set the standard for events to come" and every time they end up adding 30 more books than they originally said. Enough is enough already. If they're gonna have a ****load of books just go "Well theres going to be about half a dozen books that have tie-ins, and we're going to launch a wave of one shots that deal with the various characters in Siege that didn't get a lot of focus" instead of "It's only going to be Siege and an Embeded like story"

Oh, the things that crazy people see. :o

Mah cardboard box tells me things.

Do you honestly think Bendis would have had McCain step up and dismantle Hammer?

I just want to add, I'm not pro-McCain or Republican or anything. I have a loathing for both political parties, I just think its silly that Marvel couldn't control its hard-on for Obama and had to insert him right smack dab into the middle of the issue. I would be here saying how stupid it was, be it Obama, McCain or Bush. I can't wait for the great big hug between him and Cap in the next issue, holding hands, etc.

"Rogue's Revenge" was essential in that the Rogues are awesome, and should be in everything.

Yes, I honestly think that Marvel's President of the U.S. would now be dismantling HAMMER no matter who the real life President is. I think they're setting up the U.S.government to be supporting superheroes again; at least for a while :yay:.

had nothing really to do with it, but they were in fact better than the actual event.
