Miller on why she took the role of the Baroness.
by Jim Vejvoda

US, June 6, 2008 - Sienna Miller was recently interviewed in Prague, where she had been filming scenes for next summer's big screen version of G.I. Joe. Miller opened up about why she took on the role of the wicked Baroness in the Stephen Sommers-directed action flick.

In an interview with The Telegraph, Miller acknowledged that doing such a high-profile Hollywood movie will surely bring the tabloid magnet more media scrutiny. "I'm aware of what a film of this magnitude will bring. An interviewer said this thing to me that was a huge part of my decision. He said, 'As far as I'm concerned you can act, but the people that read Heat will never see the films you're making, and they are the non-believers," Miller recalled. "You have to make something commercial in order to be seen as more than a fashionista or tabloid fodder."

Miller added, "To do the films that are brilliant and big, you have to have been in a film that's made money. So it's strategic to a certain degree. The challenge of playing a baddie [such as the Baroness] and learning to fire guns and be in something so visually groundbreaking was part of it too -- we had five cars in the air at the same time crashing on top of me -- but it's not an actor's piece. It took me a while to understand that it wasn't about me connecting to the dialogue, and now it really is great."

The Telegraph said that a G.I. Joe "trilogy is in the offing, and the second instalment may bring Miller closer to her dream of [owning] a Modigliani."

So what. It's a cash grab for her. Can anyone say they're honestly surprised?

So 5 cars are gonna crash on top of her?

I think it's a refreshingly honest interview, and she says she is enjoying what she has gotten to do on GI Joe.

Wonder what she means by "brilliant and big"

So 5 cars are gonna crash on top of her?

She's tough! :hehe:

I think Brilliant and Big may mean Oscar material movies.

I think fanboys were expecting her to be all, "OMG, I loved G.I. Joe when I was but a small girl growing up...I pretended to be Baroness everytime I got together with my playmates...they wanted to be Barbie, I wanted to shoot Barbie, LOLZ!" Only about a handful of people in the industry that take on movies based on earlier properties are fans, the rest do it because they either want the paycheck or want to do their own interpretation of an established property. I'd say about half of the crew and cast of this movie are like Michael Bay was before TF...basically saying it's a goofy movie based on a damn toy, but I'll make some bank off it.

Well at least she is honest which some actors in certain movies (coughDunstHolmesBerryClooneyCarreyGarnerAlbacough) are not. I also think it is a wise business decision on her behalf.

What worries me in this interview is her saying "It's not an actor's piece...I'm not supposed to think about my motivation" or something to that extent. That worries me because the best of these movies (ask Speilberg, Zemeckis, Raimi, Nolan, Singer, Favreau, etc.) takes their material seriously and tries to add a level of depth with these characters. To paraphrase Hitchcock it's not the item (the plot device) that the audience cares about, but that the characters want it and why they want it and how much value they place on it. It is the MacGuffin. The audience wouldn't care nearly as much about the Ark of the Covenant or Holy Grail except for how much stock Indy (and also the Nazis) put into it.

This sounds like it will only be noise and the direction she is getting from Sommers is "It doesn't matter, the CGI just has to look cool." and that is dubious. I guess Sommers didn't learn his lesson from Van Helsing or The Mummy Returns, then.

Yeah, I agree..

It is a bit "refreshingly honest", I suppose. Not all actors take these jobs the same way. Some of them just look at these things as jobs, a big opportunity to launch their careers forward.

Heck, even Christian Bale just admitted recently that he's made movies in the past just for the paychecks, but not only that, but he loves acting and he doesn't want to do anything else.

I'd love to have a dream job and earn the respect from millions by doing it.

i doubt she's being paid even a million...

i dont even know her.

She was in Alfie, Layer Cake, Stardust and Cassanova. She is a promising starlet and I bet her deal was for over a million bucks.

:

I think it's refreshing too. Most of these stars come out and say they were big fans of the comics, the cartoon, blah, blah, blah because that's the PC thing to say. She said basically admitted what most others lie through their teeth about.

Big-ups to sexy Sienna.

She just said what most fans know deep down inside; the actors and directors probably really aren't fans of the source material. Besides, it's usually pretty obvious when these people are fans of the material.

Unfortunately, she also more or less confirmed the direction this film is headed...(sigh).

Sienna Miller's burnt breasts

Saturday, 21 June 2008

Sienna Miller burnt her boobs while making her new movie.

The 26-year-old actress revealed the accident happened when she was filming a stunt for action blockbuster 'G.I. Joe'.

She revealed: "I had every intention of working out but it just didn't happen - I've never been to the gym.

"I got burnt boobs, I ran the wrong way under an explosion. It was my own fault, I'm clumsy, there's a little scar."

Sienna - who stripped off in 'Factory Girl' and the forthcoming 'Hippie Hippie Shake' - also admitted she finds nude scenes uncomfortable because of "perverts" on set.

She added: "The damage is done, everything's been seen! It's a little bit awkward at the time. There's the odd perve in the corner."

The 'Edge of Love' star also boasted to UK talk show host Jonathan Ross about her drinking ability, but denied she is a party girl.

She said: "Not as much as is made out. I can handle it. I can drink most grown men under the table."

Sienna's new movie, 'The Edge of Love', is out in cinemas now.

HA! I love that Sienna was so honest in this interview! Pretty, refreshing, actually.

I mean come on, it made me want to punch Ben Affleck in the face him when he was on the Daredevil press tour saying time and time again how Daredevil was always his favorite superhero growing up....it was like, wow Ben, you really think the movie going public is dumber than you, don't you?
I'm thrilled SM called like it is: to book big budget movies, you have to have done some big budget movies- it's a business.

Well, we may never see a decent G.I. Joe movie, but Sienna will eventually get her Modigliani.

Eh, Ben Affleck is a fan of the Daredevil comics and even wrote a preface for one of the DD TPBs several years before he was cast (I forget which one). Not saying that makes him a good DD, but he is a fan. But hey most of the casts of the Spidey and Nolan movies never read the comics before being cast, but they all did pretty well (sans Dunst and Holmes).

But I am worried about the direction of this.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

She's just being honest. Hell even Jackman wasn't a fan when he got cast...I know Jackman is always an exception because of how gracious he is.

But something Jackman, and a lot of actors, did was they research their character when cast, so that they can get an idea of the character they're portraying.:o

Yeah. Before being cast (or trying out for the role) I know the following actors never read the comics: Christian Bale, Hugh Jackman, Patrick Stewart (never even heard of X-Men before), Ian McKellen, Liam Neeson, Tobey Maguire, James Franco, Alfred Molina, Gweneth Paltrow and so on.

Albeit, they all got into the source material after being cast or at least looked at some of it. Somehow I imagine Sommers not insisting any of his cast brush up on Joes' history. However, actors like the kid playing Duke and around that age probably watched the cartoon as kids.

To be honest, I only have vague memories of the cartoon. But I know enough to worry about how Sommers is going to **** up such a simple concept.
