Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright Newest Film "The World's End"

To be fair its been quite a few years since a movie had movie that really passed the "ringtone test."

Just saying that a score being "effective" or of high quality has nothing to do with it being "hummable". They're not mutually exclusive. Same with how "quoteable" a film is (in this case, a comedy).

Yeah, this was really good. 8.5/10 for me.

I caught some foreshadowing when the phone signals went out in the town and the fat friend(forgot his name) said, "Must be the Network..."

Didn't catch that until a rewatch. By the way, this movie gets better with rewatches. You catch so much more that you didn't catch the first time.

The sign for the King's Head is actually Simon Pegg, in that bar Simon smashed his head into the pillar to prove that he's human
But I recall he did that in the smoke house, not the King's Head.

You shut your mouth when you're talking to me!

lol, but seriously, I thought the movie was just good my first time seeing it. After a rewatch, I caught so many more things that really tied everything together for me and made the experience much better. The action was better in a rewatch as well.

Well anyways, I thought it was the worst one.

Hot Fuzz-9/10
SOTD-8/10
TWE-7/10

For me it's TWE,SOTD, and then Hot Fuzz. I need to sit through Hot Fuzz the entire time to be certain, because I always get bored a little ways into the movie.

This was good, but I just didn't like the last 10 minutes.

Yeah there is quite a bit of forshadowing as always in Wright's films.

For example there are many school disco posters seen throughout for the school party sequence. King says they have a date with Dr Ink (Which is obviously drink but can also mean the inky robots). Andy says that it takes a real man to order a water amongst a group of men, which King ends up doing.

The ending was definitely bizarre. I initially thought that it was all in their heads as they get drunker and drunker, then I thought it was all a gameshow as the platform fell through. I do like the twist that it was basically all an Alcoholics anonymous meeting for Gary (someone posted a great analysis of the ending a few pages back).

its so nice to see that we are trained by hollywood to like one specific ending. i bet if we would do a test millions of people would have the same ending in their head. we expect a certain movie. movies are so predictable that we know what will happen. everytime with every movie . we alreday know the twists.

The Worlds End showed something new. it was unexpected. and we couldnt handle it. doesnt mean that everyone has to like it. but please some appreciation since they tryed somethign new.

I love the ending. It was completely fitting. It work on all thematic levels and meant something. I don't get how people miss this. Did they really just want them to save the day and it was all OK again?

Great film, but still the weakest of the 3 for me. SotD will always remain #1. I didn't mind the end, however [BLACKOUT]I did get a little taste of the South Park episode where earth is banned from the rest of the universe with the whole "network" idea.[/BLACKOUT]

Plenty of great one liners, the action and fighting was amazing, but it does lack the aura that SotD and HF carried. Though that's probably due to the deeper characterizations and plot, but this has been discussed before. Will probably like it much more after another viewing as I did with the others.

8.5/10

Um no. It was just not a great ending.
