Simpsons vs. Family Guy

Granted when the Simpsons was good it was good, but it really has lost it recently (the movie just proved that, for me at least) Family Guy continues to be funny with each season not to mention more inventive (more so than the original simpsons for me)

But whats better?

The Simpsons... Family Guy doesn't have the strength to last as long as The Simpsons and even if it did the same thing would crop up again, "Family Guy vs Next Big Show To Come Along".

The Simpsons has always been a firm favourite of mine and it has continued to be a great show now entering its 19th season

There was a time when Family Guy was probably better, bu those days have long passed us.

What show are you watching? Family Guy is funny, but it's the Teletubbies of primetime cartoon sitcoms. They take the same stupid joke and do it over and over and run it into the ground.

Family guy was cool it's first 2 or 3 seasons. Then when they brought it back after cancelation they just began to suck! Are they even trying anymore? I know it's been known for it's out-of-nowhere references but come on! At least the references use to make sense some what. And then throwing out tired gags like evil monkey or naked-deaf-greased-guy? That's just desperation at it's finest.

And the whole Griffin family has become caricatures of their pre-cancelation selfs.

Peter went from bumbling-yet-lovable father to complete ******.

Lois went from cute mom to sex-craved skank.

AND MEG!!! MY GOD!!! She went from akward middle child to the person EVERYONE hates who is so desperate for attention she goes PSYCHO!!! MAN!!!

Despite what you think of the recent seasons of the Simpsons, at least it stays true to their characters and still manages to be funnier than half the "comedies" on t.v.

I like Family Guy, but this just isn't a fair debate. Family Guy is in it's sixth season, and it's already showing signs of slipping. The Simpsons were in it's prime by it's sixth season, with still another three strong seasons left in them. They also broke a lot of new territory in what you could and couldn't do in a animated sitcom in a more conservative television environment (at least compared to todays standards). For those reasons alone I'd say Simpsons, but also just because the Simpsons in it's prime mops the floor with Family Guy in it's prime... it's just hard to remember that because the last eight or so seasons have been so subpar.

Family guy is a 25 minute set of short sequences twisting jokes out of populer culture movies,comics etc granted this can have its moments e.g the episode when stewie is running through the backyards ferris bueller style but it relies to heavily on these moments the secondary characters in the show seem like an afterthought (Meg and chris) while in the simpsons you get a proper family dynamic each main character is fully rounded out, yes sipmsos has lost some of its edge in recent years but it will always be better then family guy for me.

Besides the recent SW spoof, I haven't watched a single minute of Family Guy since I turned it off in the middle of an episode, and I can recall the exact moment. A couple years back, there was an episode where Peter removed his face in front of the mirror to reveal Hank Hill and said, "Hehehehe... propane."

That's when I officially gave up.
