That was quite hilarious. He seems like a funny and down to earth guy.

As a little kid during the kung fu craze in the 70s, reading Shang-Chi, Iron Fist and Sons of The Tiger in awe (also thought Karate Boy in Legion of Superheroes was cool), I never thought I'd see humour clips with an actor actually cast as The Master of Kung Fu. It's a pretty cool thought in retrospect.

I’m binge-watching Kim’s Convenience on Netflix - it’s a pretty darn good show, and Liu is very funny. I wonder if Shang-Chi is going to be a serious character at all, considering how great at humor Liu is.

I'm guessing he'll be more in the vein of Jackie Chan than Bruce Lee. If they got him for his humour, then there's no point in trying to make him more intense and serious like most of Bruce Lee's characters.

Do you think Simu Liu will play Shang Chi in a more jovial and humorous way, similar to Jackie Chan? Or will he be dark and brooding with an intensity and underlying rage like Bruce Lee often had? Will a Bruce Lee portrayal fit with the general tone of the MCU or will it be too dark?

Would it even serve Asian Americans well if Simu Liu played it like Bruce Lee? Would people think that Asians are also brooding and dark and can't be fun and laid back leading men like RDJ, Chris Pratt, Chris Hemsworth etc?

Is it better if Shang Chi has a personality more similar to theirs than something more serious?

I've been thinking about this looking back at the Doug Moench/Paul Gulacy MoKF run and part of me kind of wishes Shang-Chi got the Netflix show and Iron Fist got the movie. Iron Fist was always the fun, lighthearted one with flashy powers, colorful costume and huge lore, while Shang was a serious, introspective type whose stories were grounded and could be pulled off on a Netflix type budget. Just looking at the panels, artwork and atmosphere really had me visualizing a show fitting the character.

The flip side is Jeph Loeb and co still could've ruined him as bad as they did Danny, so maybe we dodged a bullet. And Shang being the first Asian American MCU lead movie is pretty cool and long overdue for the community and Shang-Chi.

I was surprised we didn't get to see much of Simu Lu's personality and comedy chops on display in the teaser, but man, he is exuding the right amount of confidence and projecting skill and strength big time.
