Sequels Singer Approached For X4?

THANK ****ING GOD.

Now seeing as Fox had some sense in asking Bryan for X4, let's hope they have some more sense to wait until Bryan's done with SR. So then maybe Bryan could have some free time and be able to accept the job.

Ratner did a pretty solid job on a film he just walked in on. He didn't write the damn movie however it was more like a 1.5 hour ending than a stand alone film. Very fast paced and over before you know it. Marvel wanted to show the fans all the characters using their powers to the extreme and they wanted to show us some new fan favorites. Fox realized that many of the main leads would have to be resigned (very expensive) or the next film would have to be recast. The general public enjoyed X3. Comicbook fans on the level of the people on these boards don't make up a worthwhile % of the audience to bend over for.

Edit: I'm not opposed to getting Singer back but he's not worth waiting for if the Wolverine script is ready. Besides there are more suitable directors for a darker more violent Wolverine pic than Singer. I'd rather see McTiernan, Del Toro, the guy who directed Running Scared (whoever that was), hell even Hensleigh if given the right budget has the mind for this film. Tony Scott too.

It's not just the pacing. It's the decisions he made during the filming that makes me want Singer back - very badly - and Ratner out.

Maybe Singer can ignore X3 like he ignored Superman 3 & 4, and make X4 as if X3 never existed. :p

Just a thought.

I enjoyed it and most people did in the real world hence the large box office receipts and record dvd sales afterword. TV rights sold awfully fast too.

How much money a movie makes doesn't speak for it's quality.

Also, I work in a video store, and whenever I ask someone who's rented X3 if they liked it, they weren't exactly overwhelmed with it. And most agree that X2 was better.

My take Is this Is good news.It confirms Fox Is thinking about X4(It made
so much money Fox Is stupid If they would end It with X-Men the Last stand)
and the fact they have approached him Is great. They should not have waited so long to make a deal with him(with Is how Warner Brothers got him
for Superman Returns) or waited for him to finish Superman Returns to do
X3(which he wanted to do) Brett Ratner did the best job he could but Singer
Is the better filmmaker.X2 Is the best film In the series(I consider It,Batman
Begins and Superman the best comic book films) With Wolverine coming In 2008,and magneto likely for 2009 or 2010 Fox could wait for Singer to finish
the Superman Returns sequel.I predict the X4 team would consist of Iceman,
Kitty Pryde,Angel,Rogue(repowered) Colossus, and the Introduction of Gambit.
Xavier would be back at the mansion, and Beast In a supporting role.A brief
appearance by Wolverine Is possible. We will likely get new Villians. My money
would be on the Hellfire Club(especilly If Singer does It) and possibly the
Senentles out of the Danger room.

I want neither of them back. Give some fresh blood that can capture the best of what the both of them did a chance.

not going to happen- these actors aren't getting any younger- ashmore is pushing 30! and if the superman sequel does well they will want him to do another one of those

They should get Singer AND Ratner. I'd be the perfect balance of good filmmaking and good action sequences.

I don't want Ratner AT ALL. After listening to the DVD commentary, I've heard enough to convince me that he shouldn't be allowed anywhere near these movies again.

I think he could work as a creative consultant or something like that, after all.. he and Singer are friends.

If he has very little creative input. Then yeah, the DVD commentary, pretty much sums up that he's a complete ******. Pretty action sequences he can make, but yeah. ******. :o

I know, I'd just have him there for the action sequences. And you have to admit the fact that he knows how to handle the mutant's powers pretty well.

I find it interesting that Fox approached Singer for a potential X-Men 4 despite what looks to be his busy schedule. Regardless, I would like Fox to approach other former behind-the-scenes individuals, like Tom DeSanto and David Hayter to be a part of future X-Men films. They are the ones who know the comics . . . particularly Hayter. He seems to know just as much about the characters and has shown just as much an appreciation for them as most people on these boards.

Reading some of their past interviews where they discuss their excitement about expanding the X-Men universe to include all of the fantastical heroes, villains, and storylines that they grew up with, feels more like the X-Men that I know than the past year that sometimes felt like the X-Men Twilight Zone. At least they could recognize when they were making deviations from the source material. If I had to listen to Brett Ratner yet again boast about how incredibly faithful they stayed to the comic books, as though everyone else didn’t have a clue, I think I would’ve gone crazy.

In so far as directors are concerned, I have yet to see many who are both knowledgeable of the characters and willing to tackle such a project . . . especially in a series that is already on its fourth film. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It looks like, at the least, we have a few years until another X-Men film.

Im not into singers style at all but I do want more xfilms one way or another. As long as Storm has a suitable role.

Exactly. No matter the subject mater XFilms should have great special effects because of their powers. Singer and company never really hit that mark and really showcased them as X-men.

define suitable?

No Halle Berry for starters. It's a shame Angela Basset will be too old to potray Storm in any future X-Men films.

Angela Bassett gets thrown around for Storm so much.

For jesus christ people, the woman never wanted the role, she turned it down and she'd doo so again and for one part I'm glad. Storm might be drawn a bit butcher than the other females of the X-Men, but Angela is way butch over board. She's an ugly old woman. Terrific actress but ugly as hell.
