Sequels Singer Approached For X4?

They should get Singer AND Ratner. I'd be the perfect balance of good filmmaking and good action sequences.

yeah id love if that happened. Singer knows his emotions while Ratner knows his action... that would be a great movie

but there are better good filmmakers then singer they could get, and they would suffice the action part as good as ratner could, although ratner did a very good job with the action

out of the two it has to be ratner, but i would agree with some previous posts, a new director would probobly be the best fit

i'm telling ya joe carnahan up and coming director, he may not be interested in doing the 4th sequel in a comic book franchise, but a guy like that would be gold if they can get him

No Halle Berry for starters. It's a shame Angela Basset will be too old to potray Storm in any future X-Men films.

an X4? i am almost scared on how they might screw this one up. .i'm about done with the x-films

^ I would agree cyke, but it seems Fox has some sense (I never would have thought I would have said 'Fox' and 'sense' in the same sentence) in trying to get a good director for it.

And who's to say Fox won't interfere with the creativity and give strict guidelines and parameters.
But don't they do that on all their superhero flicks?:o

I'm actually pretty surprised by this news. Who would have really thought Fox would want Singer back? After the way Fox/Singer parted company and how well X3 performed at the box office you'd expect ratner and co. to be asked back not Singer.

Don't get be wrong i'd be happy if he returned but i've got my doubts about this happening. He's got a little thing called Superman 2 to tackle in the coming 2-3 years. Plus The Mayor of Castro Street, Logan's Run and You Want Me to Kill Him? are all movies he's signed to direct as well.

I wouldn't be opposed to someone other than Singer or Ratner. Why? Because a potential X4 looks like it will be a fresh start (not reboot) with loads of new characters. So just like the spin-offs a fresh face might be best.

Before Fox signed up Ratner i believe Zack Snyder was a candidate to direct X3 i'd be very interested in his take on the X-Men.

P.S: Wonder how Halle will take this news?

Angela Bassett gets thrown around for Storm so much.

For jesus christ people, the woman never wanted the role, she turned it down and she'd doo so again and for one part I'm glad. Storm might be drawn a bit butcher than the other females of the X-Men, but Angela is way butch over board. She's an ugly old woman. Terrific actress but ugly as hell.
Speak for yourself Bill a lot of people including me consider Angela to be a natural beauty. Oh and she was never approached or offered the Storm role.In an interview she said how fustrating it was to hear the rumors and not get a phonecall.

But in all honesty Retro, let's say, X-Men is being filmed now. The script is sent out to numerous black actresses. Angela Bassett gets the script?

Do you really think she'd take the role? The role of a character that was never gonna be right before and after Halle stepped on the film? Sure, there was more Storm in the first movies script, but Singer wasn't a fan, he doesn't know what to do with the character. He made that perfectly clear. Angela Bassett or not she wouldn't have been the Storm we all want. Angela might have got the role, but after that we'd loose Storm, cause I don't picture Angela as much of a fighter. She'd up and leave the role. Unlike Halle who actually did fight to get something done, whether she did is up to whoever's own personal opinion.

Like I said, Angela or not, she'd be the same Storm we got in the films, just a inch better acted, and a whole hell of alot uglier.

Yay at the fact that Fox are considering an X4. I think Singer returning for an X4 is highly unlikely but there are alot of good directors out there so hopefully Fox looks for a competent one.

I'm all for an X4 as long as the 'Unholy Trinity' of Brett Ratner, Simon Kinberg and Zak Penn are not involved.

the only thing damaged about X3 was all singers fault

no cyclops, those where the sins of singer making wolverine such a main character that he had to be the main love interest for jean grey

rouge sucking, not ratners fault, yep its singers fault

storm not doing ****, oh what a wonder, singer leaves and storm actually does stuff, this is fascinating, bryan singer sucks, he is everything that is wrong with the xmen movies and he should never come back, he can continue making bland superman movies with no action, there where 2,000 special effects in that peice of ****, and all superman is doing is getting cats out of trees, and having his son save the day...awesome

Sorry to say but your in a minority. Jean CLEARLY chose Cyclops in X2 as her main love. Do you not remember the scene were she turns Logan down straight, outside the jet? Or when Logan tells Scott that Jean chose Scott over him?

And a weak Rogue? The Rogue who stopped Pyro's rampage, threatened Magneot, saved the X-men by flying the jet and stood strong with the X-Men in White House at the end was weak?

And the Storm who despite fearing humans, puts her neck on the line for them multiple times.

It announced in the latest Empire magazine that Singer is no longer directing Logans Run Retro.

Is this true cause if it is,great.Anyone would be better than ratner and bring rogue back and i'm happy.

yeah this movie really has to be the rogue and cyclops fix it.The two storylines should centre around them- i'm thinking sinister working for apocalypse

I agree with you about that. But replace Zak Penn with Tim Rothman, the man who rushed production and hired Ratner and Kinberg in the first place. At least Penn has X2 to his name

and electra.

Bad news he's signed on for the avengers as well

i hope singer does the x men 4 i thought the phoenix in x men 3 could have been better

While an X4 with Singer directing would be cool, it would seem annoying for Singer, since everything he set up in X2 was followed up by someone else, with different ideas. Jean's dead...again. Professor Xavier's story is questionable. Scott's gone...maybe. Rogue's cured. Storm and Wolverine run the school. I dunno...there's no direct quote from Singer re: X4 (which makes me think his original quote might've been taken out of context), so I honestly feel like he prob doesn't even want to bother with that. :p

I still fail to see where Ratner was so "creative" and handled the action so well. To me, for such a big battle and considering the possiblities, the battle was pretty dull, common and lacking creativity. Jean's neighborhood was good, but the final battle could be way more creative and overall better. I don't think he handled the action that well. Sure, the movie does have much more action than the last installments, but to me, quantity does not equal quality. Many action parts, few of them worthy of saying wow.

it wasn't that he was creative in handling the action, it was that he did any action at all, if you watch the singer movies there is very very precious little action, the first scene in X2 is basically it for impressive action in the first two movies

which is why i say Ratner did nothing special, but at least he had superheros and villans fighting each other, Singer has this sick fascination with Superheros vs Man, or Nature that he turned Superman Returns from a possible great superhero movie, into just an okay one with a special effect extraveganza

thats why i would go with Ratner he took all 200 and put it towards the actual X-men and there powers, where a Singer would have put it toward a ****ing damn exploding

well they better ask Brett or someone else who knows how to get the job done.....i want Halle back.

I would love to see Singer come back and do this movie but he has alot to do already. I mean he is doing Superman Returns 2 and if this movie is a hit then he is doing the third one as well as he is in talks to do Superman vs Batman. So he has alot on his plate already. I just wish they would have waited till SR was done and maybe next summer we would have seen X3. I think he was great for X-Men though I just wonder how they can fix all the things X-Men 4 messed up.

^ What was messed up in X3? It was a solid enjoyable installment to me and many others. I go to the movies to enjoy it not to over analyze, nitpick, and moan. So many people went into the theatre to watch X3 with months of built up hatred for Fox and Ratner it never had a chance. Too bad for those people.

What was so messed up with X3 you ask?

- Bad editing and pacing
- No real character moments
- The film only slows down once or twice, then it's only for a milisecond and were back to cut neck action sequence
- Horrible treatments of everyone and their character except for Beast, Magneto, Xavier and Wolverine (when he's actually being Wolverine.)

Don't get me wrong. Enjoyable fun time, but it's the most flawed of the films.

true justabill, i want fresh blood in this film- fox should audition directors based on their vision for the film. Or ask us to choose then we can stop complaining:woot: We need a good writer first and foremost- someone who do what is needed for the story he wants to tell and not focus on characters because he told to. (except cyke and rogue)
