Halloween arrives in Skyforge, Neverwinter, and The Secret World this week!


In Skyforge, the Evil Pumpkin Festival begins tomorrow and lasts until November 11th. Race against your servermates to ride a broom through the park and steal candy from bandits! There’s even a treasure map up for grabs.

Over in Neverwinter, players will party with the Masquerade of Liars, which begins tomorrow morning on all platforms and runs through November 2nd. Two daily quests, Trade of Treats and Lore of Liars, and other themed content will reward players with spendable tokens, masks, dyes, and potions. Meanwhile, in The Secret World, every day is Halloween, but the grand celebration of Samhain itself has returned today with new lore, invasions, and goodie bags as drops and as cash-shop buyables.

Skyforge AMA discusses pay-to-win and future content updates

Skyforge just released a major update, but it’s also making an effort to reach out to its community more enthusiastically. Western producer Volker Boenigk hosted an AMA on Reddit yesterday, inviting players and onlookers to ask any and all possible question about the game, its localization process, and future updates.



That included a big question front and center about accusations of pay-to-win gameplay.




Boenigk explained that past a certain point, the game really cannot financially support itself solely on costumes and cosmetics, but the goal is always to ensure that players have a positive experience whether or not money is spent.



He stressed that it’s something the game’s team takes very seriously and is always happy to discuss constructively with players.
Questions also covered improved rewards for directives (which are coming) and the localization process of the game (which suffers slightly for speed, as the team wants to get updates from the Russian version into the Western version as quickly as possible). Skyforge nerfs squad adventures and steels itself for a Reaper invasion

Love it, hate it, or ambivalent toward it, it’s hard to deny that Skyforge is pretty on the ball with its production of updates. Every time we turn around, it seems like the game is pumping out another content patch — and the next one is coming quite soon.


On December 1st, Skyforge is hauling out its War Eternal update for the approval of its demigod players. The patch has three big features: the debut of the second season of Pantheon Wars, an invasion by your friendly neighborhood Reapers, and a difficulty nerf to the solo squad adventures.
“For the solo player, squads present a major part of their experience,” the team wrote.


“However, aspects of these adventures (such as the mechanics required to defeat certain bosses) has proven to be overly difficult for novice players. To combat this, bosses and a few other aspects of Squad adventures will be altered. This will primarily effect lower difficulties, but will make getting the hang of Skyforge’s combat systems much easier for new players!”Read more

Skyforge’s pantheon wars engage in a space race

Following a brief respite, the battles between Skyforge’s pantheons will return. On December 3rd, the second season is due to kick off, with the ultimate prize being no less than the moon itself.


This guild PvP tournament will end up benefiting all players in the game, according to the team: “The second season focuses on preparing a military expedition to Thea (Aelion’s largest moon), where an extremely valuable resource has been detected! What does this mean? It means a new area to explore! Following the tournament’s completion all players will be able to visit Thea!”


The developers have made several adjustments to the second season following their evaluation of the first. Among the changes include the removal of qualifications, the 30v30 final battle, and Tessa battles. Additionally, pantheon wars are going to pick up in frequency, taking place every two weeks and only requiring 70 participating members per guild.Read more

Skyforge’s War Eternal is live today, and while it doesn’t include ground-up reworks of basic systems like last month’s Ascension did, it does herald the resumption of the Pantheon Wars,



the first auction of which will begin on December 3rd. War Eternal also tinkers with squad boss difficulty, adds new research nodes and quest requirements in Flavius’ Laboratory, and makes difficulty tweaks to a number of lower level adventures. The Reaper of Death invasion is also underway. Get in there!Read more

The Skyforge site has been updated with a new developer diary that informs players that the Council of Gods political system is going to be delayed for an indeterminate amount of time. During development, the team felt that the mechanisms and systems being put into place would not meet player expectations for Council of Gods and that it will be rebuilt from scratch.Read more

I've been dabbling in Skyforge lately, due to the overwhelming amount of changes we've seen made to the game in recent months. Curiosity got the best me, and I'm glad I made the return. While the recent overhaul to the campaign and removal of the Atlas have made waves of positive and negative in the community, the Skyforge I find today is a game that's altogether more palatable and less confusing than before.Read more

Did you play any Skyforge in 2016? If so, your antics and activities likely contributed to the stats on a new infographic My.com has posted to cap off the year. My favorites:

  • Over 2M characters died from stuff like falls and drowning. Ahem.
  • Over 4M fireworks were launched.
  • Almost 8M hours of Skyforge were played.
  • More than twice as many people died in PvE as PvP. (What?)
  • People like crusader armor better than togas and ghosts.

Skyforge seeks player representatives for 'elder guardian' team

My.com announced today that it's once again seeking to fill out the ranks of Skyforge's Elder Guardians.

The EGs are sort of a cross between EVE Online's council of stellar management, Star Wars Galaxies' old senate, and Ultima Online's counselor crew. Their mission? "To break down communication barriers between the developers and the community while assisting the community managers in Skyforge related issues and the forums."


"Elder Guardians are the bridge between players and the My.com Team. Elder Guardians can help mediate issues in-game, provide guidance, and help prevent conflicts from escalating. Additionally, the can help the My.com Team test bugs and provide player perspective insights about Skyforge. Elder Guardians are generally good individuals to go to for advice on game play and for questions.

Elder Guardians have also a direct link to the Skyforge Team and have therefore the ability to alert the My.com about any critical issues that need immediate attention. You can recognize Elder Guardians by their [EG] tags within the game and within the forums by their forum title. This group of players will have no affiliation with My.com and will directly help the community team in the cause of everything Skyforge. Elder Guardians are normal players that express special interest in Skyforge and its Community."


My.com is hunting for such players among community leaders, Discorders, and forum participants; all you've got to do is fill out the form. The studio chooses from there.Read more

Skyforge rolls out huge cumulative bonuses for subscribers

Skyforge players who pony up for a sub are finding out this week that My.com has adjusted the table of rewards you receive for doing just that.


"Premium ranks" are the key, the studio says. "Those will enable you to boost the efficiency of current bonuses and unlock new improvements. For example, at Rank 4 you can obtain an extra item of equipment for killing the last boss in a group adventure, while at Rank 7 your character can earn more credits and Knowledge of Enemies!"

In other words, the more you buy from the game overall, the more potency you (and in some cases, the people around you) get out of your subscription, and it seems to include a pretty wide range of perks, from free travel to damage and health bonuses to free lockboxes.

Skyforge answers player questions about future development plans

Power scaling in video games is weird, and it gets even weirder than usual in Skyforge simply because you're playing actual gods.


So you find yourself wondering if you're stuck just playing a junior god and never becoming an Elder God, thereby becoming even more powerful and also giving some bad nightmares to anyone who knows a lot about Cthulhu. Good news, though; the most recent batch of community answers confirms that the mechanics for becoming an Elder God are in development to ensure that players can become that much more powerful.


There are also plans to introduce some sort of scaling for Pantheon Wars to avert lopsided conflicts and for more classes to join the game.


There are also distant plans for counter-invasions for players to take the fight back to the homeworlds of the various invaders, but those plans are still far in the future. There's no timeline provided for all of the changes promised, but you can be sure that you'll be just a bit more powerful before all is said and done.Read more

Skyforge is overhauling its LFG tools

Skyforge is rolling out a new update this very week: on Thursday, March 9th, in fact. "Stand United" is a bit of a quality-of-life update to be sure, especially for players annoyed with the existing queue system and invasion drops.


"Ever notice how there are 3-4 new short messages every second in the chat, such as gx+, of4, farm quartz?" My.com asks. "Despite the presence of the Group Finder option, optimum group search currently looks like this. However, sending 5 messages per minute to the chat in the hope that the right person notices you is not exactly convenient for anyone involved in the LFG process. Nevertheless, many players definitely prefer this way of selecting a group as it has several advantages compared to selecting a group from cards."

So instead of letting that mess continue on, My.com is revamping the grouping queues -- it looks pretty similar to World of Warcraft's finder or any similar tool, with roles at the forefront and a focus on replacements that match the right roles. It's worth a look if grouping has been a frustration for you in the sci-fantasy game!

Skyforge's new LFG tool is live with Stand United today

Heads-up, demigods: The Stand United Patch is live in Skyforge today.
It's a relatively small patch for such a grand name, but it does herald the promised overhaul to the looking-for-group system.



Of note, players will now be able to select a role while queueing up for a group, WoW-style, making it clear both to the players which role you signed up for and to the game itself should the group need to replace you.


We wrote more in-depth on the new LFG system earlier this week for those who need a catch-up!


The patch also tweaks some weather and lighting in adventures, tinkers with the prestige calculation formula, and adds previous seasons' epics to invasion weapon loot tables, in addition to bug fixes and tweaks for the Greenhouse distortion.Read more

Skyforge explains tweaks to the Cathedral and the Tower of Knowledge

There are few feelings as negative as being unable to catch up. That's been a major problem with Skyforge's Tower of Knowledge for a long time. Players who were already well advanced had no problem upgrading the tower rapidly, which in turn unlocked new benefits; by contrast, new players would struggle to earn enough resources to upgrade the tower, thus falling further behind the people who were already ahead.



It was one of the problems that the developers aimed to fix with the adjustments to the building last week, as explained in depth in the most recent post on the official site.


The Tower of Knowledge no longer requires credits, but instead is upgraded based on enemies defeated with a maximum cap on daily upgrades.



You can also unlock powerful Prototypes from research within the tower. The Cathedral has also been improved by making it far cheaper and much more potent in its effects which avoids its previous status as the least desirable building to upgrade.



So these changes are all good, unless perhaps you prided yourself on being a god of good urban planning.Read more

When MMO devs give windows like "spring" for launches, we usually figure it'll be the very tail end. Not this time: My.com announced today that when it said Skyforge's PlayStation 4 version was coming in the spring, it really meant soon!
"Developer Allods Team and global publisher My.com happily announce that action MMORPG Skyforge will launch its North American and European server support on March 28th, when the game will go into Early Access. Anyone obtaining one of the Early Adopter packs can get start discovering Immortality and become Legend. The servers open up for the full free to play experience for Playstation 4 players on April 11th."

One of the advantages of creating a sci-fi MMORPG is that there's little stopping you if you want to send your players to other celestial bodies. Skyforge is doing this with its upcoming Thea update, launching players from Aelion to one of its three moons.




It won't be a walk in the park when you get there. Thea is a low-gravity environment plagued by numerous meteorite storms... but there are rewards to be had here as well. In addition to several types of quests to keep players busy, Thea offers the opportunity to mine a resource that can unlock a brand-new talent for each class.


Another interesting feature of Thea is that it will keep challenges and rewards appropriate for any character that travels there. You do have to attain your divine form as a prerequisite, but other than that, there's nothing stopping you from living out your fantasies as an astronaut making that giant leap for divinekind.Read more

There's a new outbreak of a heretofore unknown species of Phytonides in Skyforge, which is... not normal, but it's well within the usual wheelhouse of things that the game's deities have to deal with.


(When you have this many gods running around, you wind up stopping just shy of cat-up-in-tree services being handled by said gods.) But then there are a whole lot of precious meteor stones from the eponymous Emerald Stream event going missing from homes across the planet. Why is all of this taking place? Are these events connected? What can be done? Why not take part in the event to find out?


If the promise of learning the mysterious connection isn't enough to entice you, perhaps you'll be enticed by the prospect of getting to ride your very own treant mount wherever you go.



You can just tell people you're an exceptionally good gardener when they ask where you got it. The event runs until April 12th at 4:00 a.m. EDT, so you'll have plenty of time to earn rewards, decipher the mystery, get yourself a new mount, and eventually get kind of tired of plants.Read more

The Days of Glory come to Skyforge through May 24

We’ve mentioned before that the world of Skyforge tends to get invaded pretty regularly at this point. The first time it happened, though?

That was a big deal. It’s the first invasion and the victory against the Mechanoids that the Days of Glory event is celebrating, and players can take part to earn various special rewards purchased through Ether Traces.


During the event, which runs until May 24th, players can examine displays about the first invasion, relive the battles of the past, and track down the mystery of various strange letters. You can also activate the virtual battle challenge and see how long you last against virtual challenge battles. Hey, if you can’t celebrate this stuff as a deity, when can you?




Of course, PlayStation 4 players have reason enough to celebrate when the game’s first console expansion, the Risen Exiles, hits on May 16th, bringing the Monk, Necromancer, and Witch to the console. Skyforge has pushed its Risen Exiles update over to the game’s PS4 version today. If you’re a PC player thinking that you’ve never heard of the Risen Exiles expansion, that’s because it seems to be a mish-mash of patches you already have.
“Unlock and experience the deadly power of the Necromancer, balanced strength of the Monk, and dark spells of the Witch. Players can rise from exile today by downloading the free expansion for the PlayStation store and take on new endgame challenges in the Tacid Dunes, mastering the new dungeons alone or with their friends.
