Skyforge adds in character profiles

June 13, 2017 One comment

Prestige rank in Skyforge is a good metric for determining a character’s overall power level, but it doesn’t tell you much about the character as played.

That’s why the developers have added the new character profile option which allows you to actually examine other characters to see what equipment they’re using, what symbols they have, and so forth. It might tell you much about the player’s actual playstyle, but it’s still relevant information.

Characters can be examined either from the social panel when near another player or via right-clicking on names in the chat or Pantheon screens. It’s a little feature that will be almost immediately familiar to anyone who has played many other MMOs, but we trust that Skyforge players will quickly grasp how this feature can be used to mock someone’s gear choices and overall play patterns.Read more

Skyforge turns alien plants into assault gliders

June 16, 2017 One comment

Who said science can’t be profitable? Skyforge is calling all players to descend from their godly pantheons to engage in a little botony for the sake of shared knowledge. And if those efforts pay off in serious military gear?

So much the better. A new event that’s running from today through June 23rd revolves around a giant Phytonide that was downed, spilling out all manner of secrets. Players are tasked with lending their skills at xenobotany and xenobiology to assist in the discovery of this alien race.

In exchange for the assistance, the XTN Agency is prepared to reward helpers with credits, medals, premium subscriptions, a Hurricane special assault glider, and a full set of scout battle armor. Sounds like a good deal to us!Read more

Skyforge adds a new Distortion and new Prestige ranking with its latest patch

June 22, 2017 One comment

Prestige is an important indicator of power in Skyforge, and it just keeps growing over time. The problem is that as it grows ever higher, it becomes harder and harder to look at it at a glance and say “yes, that character is getting higher in Prestige.” Plus, there’s the simple reality that a ranking of nine billion Prestige doesn’t look nice. So the latest patch for the game adds in a ranking system wherein one’s Prestige Rank is a simpler and much smaller number.

It’s almost like just leveling, but it’s certainly easier to read at a glance. The patch also adds a new distortion to the game and a variety of quality-of-life improvements like the option to inspect equipment, market board improvements, and more face options for character creation. Check out the full patch notes for a glance at how the game has changed, and log right in if that’s all the motivation you need to start enjoying an easier-to-read ranking system.Read more

Pantheon Wars return to Skyforge on July 1

June 29, 2017 Leave a comment

When the deities in Skyforge aren’t fighting one of the millions of invasions taking place on the planet on a regular basis, who do they fight? One another, obviously. Pantheon Wars are returning to the game for a third season on July 1st, and that comes with a number of changes to the format, starting with the removal of PvE components. If you want to take part in the competition, you’ll need to be directly competing at this point; no working around the task of fighting your enemies.

Scoring rules have also changed to make a successful attack more rewarding than a successful defense, to encourage players to fight over locations rather than simply defending what’s already been controlled. Argent donations to your pantheon will also award you double credits until July 5th, to encourage players to prepare their pantheons for war. It’s time for a big all-out slugfest for all of the marbles if you’re in the game, so get into the mix and look forward to more buffs in the future.Read more

July 20 ,2017 http://massivelyop.com/2017/07/20/s...nd-anniversary-with-giveaways-trivia-contest/ 2 comments

While you weren’t looking — or maybe you were — Skyforge tucked two years of live operation under its belt. The sci-fi action MMORPG is celebrating its second anniversary this month, starting with daily login rewards that dole out, among other things, actual halo and angel wings. Don’t let it go to your head (literally).

The team’s also hosting a Trivia of the Gods contest to anyone who wants to take a stab at answering all things Skyforge. This takes place online, and while there are special prizes for the winners, everyone who completes it will get a participation prize. Aww.Read more

kyforge takes a first look at regional invasion

July 24,2017 One comment

There are regions in Skyforge that are largely irrelevant to higher-level players. There are a lot of invasions in Skyforge. The two things have largely remained separate from one another, but someone finally looked at these two elements and asked a reasonable question. “Why don’t the invasions hit these underused regions?” that bright soul asked.Wine bottles were opened. Cheering was heard. It was the moment that changed everything.Read more

Skyforge celebrates the summer through August and looks back at Outlaw design

August 10,2017 comments

Just because you’re a deity doesn’t mean you don’t want to spend some time enjoying the summer. Skyforge knows what you like, and it’s ready to bring you through the waning moments of the summer with its Summer Breeze Event running through August 23rd.

Pick up swimsuits and active wear for your character, take part in some pegasus races (bad language in that video, fair warning), and generally kick back and enjoy yourself with the later parts of the summer season.

The game also posted a retrospective detailing the creation process for the game’s Outlaw class, walking through the path of designing the look, the abilities, and the mechanics behind adding another play option.Read more

Skyforge’s The Revenant update introduces its 15th class in September

AUGUST 29,2017 Leave a comment

We’re taking a break from our regularly scheduled coverage of the absurd number of MMOs and patches launching today to talk about an update that won’t be out for a few more weeks, so you needn’t stress over it just yet.

That’d be Skyforge’s The Revenant, which lands on September 19th and includes a new playable
class — its 15th, in fact. The class is called the Revenant. Who saw that coming?Read more

Skyforge takes a first look at the lore and abilities of the Revenant

http://massivelyop.com/2017/09/01/s...ok-at-the-lore-and-abilities-of-the-revenant/

Hello, everyone! Meet your new friend in Skyforge, the Revenant! He brought you death! No, that’s not a bad thing or a threat; these guys think death is super awesome in the lore.

You’d think that they would dress up more like happy-go-lucky dorks gleefully dispensing death if that were the case, but you can read through the whole lore dispatch yourself and maybe find out why they’re all trying to look scary. Maybe it’s a cultural thing.

For those of you who don’t care about the lore, you’ll be happy to learn a little bit about the class mechanics with a preview of its first ability, Siphon. No, it’s not just a drain; it drains life and drags the target to the Revenant, then ends with a knockdown and a vulnerability debuff. The class will be available on September 19th, Read more

Skyforge’s Revenant update is live today

september 10,2017 One comment

It’s time for a new sort of death to take to the fight with the latest Skyforge update. The Revenant is a class that brings death, downright revels in it, and stands apart from good and evil as a testament to simply bringing death to all around it. That’s why a Revenant is supposed to wear lots of bones and stuff, see. Because death is scary.

Whether or not the addition of the Revenant counts as an expansion is left as an exercise for the reader, although the staff behind the game seems to feel it is. It’s live today regardless, so there’s no need to quibble over words, is there?
Any jokes about how the Revenant looks like a rejected mascot for a heavy metal album can be supplanted by admiring the life-draining mechanics and abilities of the class,Read more

Skyforge’s new equipment system puts the power of stats in your hands

October 13, 2017 Comments 1

Here’s a think piece: Why do so many MMORPGs make gear stats needlessly complex and obtuse? What might make sense to a developer who lives and breathes these numbers is headache-inducing calculus to players.

Enter Skyforge and its new equipment system, which is attempting to make gear both understandable and adaptable to the needs of each gamer.

Each piece of gear has a certain number of main and secondary properties that it can equip (such as base damage or serial kill). These properties can be swapped for ones that a player desires more, Read more

Skyforge’s ambitions just can’t be tamed: First it launched on PC, then it came to the PlayStation 4 earlier this year.

Now it’s set its sights on Xbox One, as My.com has just announced the free-to-play sci-fi fantasy MMORPG will land on yet another platform worldwide “this year.” What does that mean?

Skyforge is out for the Xbox One

http://massivelyop.com/2017/11/29/skyforge-is-out-for-the-xbox-one/

Who says that Sony fans get all of the good exclusives for this particular console generation? After all, you can now play a god (possibly of war) in Skyforge on the Xbox One as of today, and that’s not something that… oh, it was on the PlayStation 4 in April.

Well, you can still jump in and play it now on your Xbox One just the same, so timing and exclusivity concerns aside, it’s still a good thing.

For those of you who are wholly unfamiliar with Skyforge, it’s a game with 15 classes for players to switch between freely, action combat, and all sorts of action smashy stuff going on as you become a deity to defend your world against all sorts of invasions. It’s also free-to-play, Read more

Skyforge launches a Demonic Dawn on PlayStation 4

December 13,2017 One comment

Let’s not mince words: You’re going to see lots of updates this month that are all about red suits with white fur linings, snow, green pine trees festooned with ornaments, that sort of stuff. But not in Skyforge on the PlayStation 4, no. There it’s demon time. The game just launched its Demonic Dawn update, and that means fighting demons infected by the sickness out of space, which is also infecting space itself, led by the evil Nihaz.

As is so often the case in Skyforge, you’ll be fighting to push back the demonic invaders on multiple fronts, Read more

Skyforge offers sales, events, and an advent calendar for the winter holiday

Decmber 19, 2017
Comment's

In Skyforge, the player characters are deities, and they have to save everyone from everything. That is their lot in life. You’ve no doubt saved people from aliens, saved places from invasion, and saved coupons from being wasted unnecessarily at shopping centers.

Now you can also be sure to save Christmas, or the nearest approximation thereof, with the winter events running in the game right now. Attire, boosters, and all the rest await you. (Also snowballs, most likely.)The game is also running its annual advent calendar, offering daily rewards for players and a larger meta-reward for those who continually check back in.

Plus, the game is kicking off sales starting on December 20th, starting with the Knowledge of Enemies sale before moving on to the Hall of Trophies sale and ending with a Celestial Blockbuster sale. (And if you think several of those sound like good band names, well, go start a band.) So there are lots of reasons to feel festive in the game, even if your character Ronald has had less luck with “Ronaldmas” as this year’s holiday.Read more

Skyforge offers better previews, better symbols, and better trophies

http://massivelyop.com/2018/03/07/s...-previews-better-symbols-and-better-trophies/

The latest Skyforge patch is out in the wild, and it makes a lot of little things in the game better. Case in point, rather than guess at how an appearance item in a pack will look on your character, you can now preview the item directly on your character before you buy. You also have an improved interface for symbols (selected for free and per class now) and more ranks for trophies, including a sixth rank for those that add to your Might.

Check out the full patch notes for more. If that’s not enough for you, it might behoove you to take a look at the odd disappearance of the floral goddess Tessa. A researcher and the source of ether resonators that offered the warring deities of the world all sorts of opportunities,Read more

Skyforge offers players a shamrock riding board for St. Patrick’s Day

March 14, 2018 One Comment
http://massivelyop.com/2018/03/14/s...-a-shamrock-riding-board-for-st-patricks-day/

The vast majority of MMOs don’t even celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, which means that Skyforge marking the occasion would already mean that it was doing something special. But it also gives players a shot at a shamrock-themed hoverboard you can ride around upon, thus taking things to the next level in terms of rewards.

Your move, other games who want to celebrate another holiday. Your move. How do you get this ride? Well, you kill bosses in adventures to pick up Ether Clovers between today and March 19th. It takes 350 clovers to pick up the hoverboard, Read more

Skyforge announces Overgrowth expansion, coming April 11

March 21, 2018 2 comments

Skyforge is embracing spring with the announcement of a brand-new and rather leafy new expansion. It’s called Overgrowth, and you can expect it on PC on April 11th (a day later for consolers).
“This expansion introduces a wild new class for players to unlock, called the Grovewalkers. They are highly proficient mages that sling wild nature magic at their foes from afar. Though initially nimble in appearance; they can call upon the protection of their living armor and morph into hulking frontline tanks. A sight to behold and a feature that will transform combat in Skyforge forever! Overgrowth will also let players rediscover Aelion through reworked story missions and completely new challenges system!”

Skyforge streamlines and scales its adventure difficulties

April 4,2018 Comment's

The team behind Skyforge noticed a problem. Players who had hit the higher end of Prestige found themselves more or less locked out of useful Adventures as their rank was just too high, which isn’t ideal.

It also reduced the number of different things that could actually be challenging for any given player.

Thus, the team is planning to rework its difficulty structure to offer three difficulties for squad and group adventures that should provide a more universal mechanic.

Players will be able to choose between warm-up, challenge, and nightmare difficulty. The lowest will sync everyone to a Prestige level around that of the previous Invasion and reward appropriate gear from that, while challenge offers no sync and places you at the level of the current content. Nightmare, meanwhile, Read more
