Smallville Battle from MOS vs The New York Battle from IW

MOS's Smallville Battle with Faora, Namek, General Zod vs Supes

IW's New York battle with Ebony Maw, Cull Obsidian vs Strange, Iron Man, Spidey, and Wong

The heroes in IW don't take the fight from outside the city straight into the heart of the most densely populated area for miles. +1 for Infinity War.

This isn’t really a fair comparison, given that the two fight sequences are constructed entirely differently, and one is a fight of several against one, as opposed to several against several. Yes, you can make the argument that Superman could have done more to keep the fight away from populated areas, but he’s being ganged up on, so he can’t drive the direction of the fight. It’s absolutely the right criticism to make of his fight later with Zod, but it’s far more problematic in the Smallville fight.

I’d put the two on a par, to be honest. IW is a better film, but in isolation, both fights have many merits.

The two make it into my Top 10 Anime Fights. But jokes aside, these two are the amongst the genre best. Little to choose between them IMO. I'd say that AIW has the best fights in general. The [BLACKOUT]Titan [/BLACKOUT] sequence is arguably the most comic-booky fight ever.

Smallville was great, but they don't really do much with the powers available, it's just a super strength brawl. IW actually has nuances and character and twists and turns. It was more fun, more engaging, and ultimately, more meaningful for the film it was in.

Man, this is hard. Both are exciting in their own way, but I'll go for Smallville, because we don't have anything else quite like it - very raw and gritty action sequence.

Just Doctor Strange/Wong being involved combined with concerted efforts to minimize destruction tips the scale for IW for me. Seeing MOS Supes fight, I'd be concerned for my life the building next to me doesn't blow up! Lol.

That's how I feel. The NY battle was only a short teaser, and partially played for laughs, so it's not really a fair comparison.

The Smallville battle wins this for me. Mainly due to them actually utilizing superspeed, and demonstrating how scary beings with these powers can be. Now, if this were Smallville vs. the [blackout]Titan[/blackout] battle in IW, THEN I'd say it would be a tough call.

IW easily... The Smallvile fight had neither nuance nor creativity to it. It was better than the Metropolis fight but that is hardly a credit to it.

That’s a good way to put it. Smallville fight is more memorable that IW New York... but possibly only because it’s the obvious highlight of a divisive film, whereas IW New York is just one scene in a very good film full of them. I feel inclined to say I prefer Smallville, but only for that reason, and because I am more of a Superman fan than Avengers.

New York Battle in IW does it for me, bite me Battle on Titan. (there was literally no chance of them winning).

Before IW, the Smallville fight in MOS was my favorite superhero fight scene of all time.
