World Smallville

Now that Smallville VI is underway, what should we make of it? It's taking on a different look and picking up speed with a lot more action but how is it reconcilling itself with the actual direction of the Superman films?

What about the intro of Oliver Queen/Green Arrow? Sources say he may try and found the Justice League on this show.

What about Tom Welling? As a young Clark Kent for TV, it's fine but how is it eventually going to catch up with the Clark Kent/Superman we know in film? Can't see Tom suddenly acting nerdy and clumsy as a grown Clark Kent ( and alter-ego disguise ) at the Daily Planet. Half of everybody there knows Clark already and way too many people know about his powers. Where can it go from there?

Any thoughts?

He's not gonna act like the goofy Clark from the films. I see his Clark doing what he did in the past in the show when asked about his disappearences being completly shy and dettached from reality but to a bigger extent. He won't be extremely nerdy. He always did his original take on the character and will continue to do so.
The fact that he's known in the Planet will probably make his life easier as far as getting in the door so to speak. Plus Perry owes him one.
As far as characters such as Lex or Lois maybe knowing it will make for more interesting drama. That part of the mythology always required a huge suspension of desbelief and I (and a lot of ppl) personally would love for these ppl to know but to have their own motivation as to why they won't reveal it to Clark AND to other ppl.
They've already had Lois (on season 4) give an explanation as to why she will probably be silent later on regarding the secret anyway.
I hope they don't make anything to tie in with this new movie. I wouldn't like it if it did.

Hey, Bruce:

Good take on the Smallville angle. I don't want the TV show to be tied in with "SR" either, but I think for different reasons. I really liked that flick--despite what others may think--so I wouldn't want anything to cross over into the film's world and possibly take on some of its characteristics. There is a certain look and feel to all of the Superman films which Smallville seems to lack ( or have of its own ) that any taking on of it would be a bad mix.

What about this Justin Hartley? Seems sort of wooden, and already his character turned me off. Came off as this instant pr'ck. On top of that, actually arranging for people to get captured, even if it was Lex. I thought it didn't square with any kind of superhero who was supposed to have the moral high ground.

BTW, what would Keaton and Caviezel be in Dark Knight Returns?

Thanks for the feedback.

Later.

I didn't think Justin has found the the character yet but you've got to remember that Ollie is very arrogant so in that sense he's starting well. I know some ppl think he may be a bad actor but I've seen him in Aquaman and I thought he was pretty decent in that sort of role. Rome wasn't built in a day and I expect him to be more confortable in his role throught the season.
I think he kidnapped Lex to find out the truth behind what happaned in Zod and also to determine if he would be a major threat to the world or not.
One also has to take into acount their prior history which will be explained in the episode Reunion.
Keaton of course would be Batman and Caviezel Superman (since unfortunatly we lost Christopher Reeve - that would be the mother of all super-hero movies).

Interesting thought about the Justice League idea, however I am not concerned about it.

I am interested in hearing this idea from you guys...

Now that Green Arrow have appeared on Smallville along with Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash, when do you think this guy will appear on Smallville?

The Batman...

Ok, not literally Batman, but a young Bruce Wayne maybe?

Oh my god, you guys actually like the idea!? I threw this idea of Batman appearing on Smallville as a...

joke.

You guys have pretty good scenarios for Batman but... this is something I have always thought about, and it was expressed by The Routh around the time "SR" premiered. Superman and Batman both occupy their own existence. Superman is superhuman, and Batman, just human thus "inferior" to Superman. There is nothing like Superman in Batman's world and for the two to meet would be a very... forgot how he put it--let's just say odd and somewhat incompatable. Superman's world, although dangerous, is bright and hopeful, taking care of human affairs, while Batman's is sinister and dark and out fighting crime. If Superman is our greatest protector, what does that say about Batman and his efforts? By that logic, Batman also benefits from Superman's protection--and making things easier for him? I hope this is making sense because this explanation sounds so totally all over the place.

In "SR," did anyone catch the news that Superman was seen all over the world including Gotham? I think that set off all kinds of people, but I think it was just a mention for fun, not an indication of something coming. As far as BW passing through Smallville, okay. That show has got legs of its own anyway so, hey, why not? I'll give you guys this though. If Superman and Batman were to meet, I would really prefer Superman to show up in a Batman film, not the other way. The purity and straightforwardness of a Supe film has to be kept, and that's No 1 with me.

BTW, Skimask, don't be surprised. Since the idea of Superman and Batman meeting has been around a long time, it makes perfect sense to think of the idea of Bruce passing through Smallville. :)

Well, that's my take.

There are rumors that the season finale will see Clark leaving Smallville to travel the world. It would be the perfect opening for Clark and Bruce to bump on each other...

Bruce, Lionel:

I hope the both of you are right about Smallville VII. I think it would be cool, but for the sake of sentiment, that sort of thing. I don't think it would be a good idea to make future storylines with the two.

Hey, BTW, there has been something I've been keeping quiet about for a while, and Bruce, your metioning Clark leaving Smallville makes me want to mention it. Have you noticed the INCONGRUITY of the Daily Planet on Smallville. The Paper is in Metropolis, not Smallville, but they show Clark and Chloe over there all the time. Now they intro'd Jimmy Olsen, who's supposed to be a little younger than Clark, not the same age--and a ol' flame of Chloe's? I'm telling you, Smallville is an alternate universe to the films, and it's irritating me!

Later.

Lionel:

Thanks. See. All the more it proves Smallville is out of sinc. It's that Gouch/Millar duo. I always thought there was something odd about them, and that Millar guy anyway, especially since he wrote "Red Son." That's a total perversion of the Superman concept, and DC published it yet!

Reported by www.absolutenow.com:

Brandon Routh just got a copy of "Superman Returns: The Video Game. "I got sent the video game and it's great," says Routh. "It's kind of weird to see [myself], and know that other people are controlling me but it's so cool too." Routh also found an upside in voicing his virtual self for the game. "It was cool because I get to interact with characters that aren't in the movie," he adds. "It's fun to keep living in the world of Superman."

AND...

Brokeback Batman?

Cowboy lovers Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal might be getting it on together again - this time in Gotham City. Gyllenhaal is said to be top of the list to play Harvey Dent opposite Ledger's The Joker in the upcoming sequel to Batman Begins. "Jake has a great chance of landing this role," says a movie insider. "Probably the only thing going against him is his association with Heath but Batman is obviously very different to Brokeback Mountain. I know Heath and Jake would love to work together again." Guy Pierce, Liev Schreiber and Reese Witherspoon's husband Ryan Phillippe are also in the running to play Dent.

The person who wrote that book is Mark Millar the comic book writer and not Miles Millar producer of Smallville.

Whoa. What a coincidence that is. Right.

Smallville' still weird though.

Sure, if Jake Gyllenhaal really did get casted as Two-Face, late night talk shows is going to crack so much jokes about this.

But honestly, Gyllenhaal is a great actor, cast him.

1)Season 6 is what got me back into watching Smallville. When Heroes was announced for NBC, as well as attatching Jeph Loeb to the project, I was pretty sure that would have been the only super hero show i'd be watching this year. But news of a full on Greeen Arrow, who forms a Justice League, just had me too giddy for words. I missed Cyborg, because I didn't watch all of Season 5...but I did see Flash and Aquaman. Those characters were handled well, and I love the approach to Green Arrow. I am especially fond of the fact that they incoporated Ollies regular costume as well as the Long Bow Hunters costume.

2)If Guy Pierce got the part of Harvey Dent, i'd be really pleased. Guy Pierce doesn't get nearly enough recognition. His lead roles in Memento and Cont of Monte Cristo are at least Oscar Nominee material, but both films seem pretty much over looked.

Why don't you download the Cyborg episode ? Or you can always buy the dvds...

those DVD's are a rip of £50 per season- they should be shot

For you guys maybe. We pay $35-40 (Depending on where you shop). Besides, Smallville seasons are usually 22 episodes or more. You get your money's worth.

well it is 60 pence per dollar so that would be $30 thing is they usually go down to £30 after a while so $18. My maths is awful that can't be right at all-can someone work it out.
