HAHA! I burned part of my eyebrows off when I lit my cigarette with my friend's torch-lighter. I had no idea it was a damned torch so I held it all close to my face with my hands cupped because the wind was blowing aaaand...

... WHOOOSH!!

There goes the inner part of my left eyebrow.

Ahahaha. I lost some eyebrow in mine. Doesn't count if you don't lose an eyebrow!

I hate 100% of ppl.

My only other option is kill people but apparently there seems to be some sort of law against that.

How do you 'cope'?

You didn't understand what I said. I said I hate 'people' (as in all people) 78% more than your average Joe. Not 78% of people.

Aw, man, I wish Wilhelm were here to explain to you how insane that argument is.

Addiction is not some compulsion to do something that you have no desire to do. The problem, most often, is that while addicted your wants and desires actually DO change.

So YES, those addicts actually DO want to smoke, as much as they hate it and as much they will claim they don't, and want to NOT be addicted to it.

"Oh man, I WANT a cigarette today..."

Not

"Oh man, despite how I don't have any actual internal-special-own-choice desire to smoke, I sure do BIOLOGICALLY NEED a cigarette!"

'cause while they do, they also WANT it in those moments.

****ing DUH that you WANT to smoke, that doesn't mean you're NOT addicted at all. On the contrary:huh:

You missed my previous posts where I explained that I have gone extended periods of time, in stressful situations, without cigarettes though. I have a pack of cigarettes sitting on my desk right now. They've been here all day. I've smoked two already, once this morning and another an hour or so ago.

But I am not compelled to smoke them.

If I was addicted, then I would have had some sort of desire to smoke this weekend while I was on a trip and without my cigarettes. I would have purchased a pack at one of the convenience stores I had stopped at. I would have asked to bum one from one of my friends.

I didn't. No desire at all. In fact, when I returned the other day, I didn't smoke immediately even though the same pack of cigarettes I referred to above were sitting in the exact same spot on my desk, next to my laptop, in plain sight.

My father, on the other hand, is physically addicted. He has made trips down here and couldn't go more than half an hour without smoking. One day, he left his cigarettes in his hotel room and we spent forty minutes walking around one of the neighborhoods here looking for a place which sold cigarettes.

I am not at all like that. Never have been. And if it ever comes to that... then that's where I'll be done.

I have control over this.

now, now spoons, don't be a quitter.

That's good though that you've got the self control thing going on, very impressive. Just make sure you don't go too far down that thought road into one of those "everyone should have the same self control and standard of living I do" type things. Those guys are *****ebags. That's one of the hardest things for me when I make one of those "changes for the better" to not look down on those living like I used to.

"All things in moderation, especially moderation." - mark twain or ben franklin I forget which.

Yeah, I do my best not to judge my friends but if I have to make new ones who are into a more "active" lifestyle and who don't need to crush 2 cases of Bud Light EVERY weekend, then I'll have to do that.

I don't smoke nor will I ever but I respect those who choose to smoke as long as they aren't blowing it right into my nostrils

Yeah, I smoke, therefore I am utterly clueless as to the health problems and risks associated with it.

I forgot that in today's day and age, people are taught that smokers don't make any conscientious decisions at all. It is either the work of evil tobacco executives and ad campaigns, or lack of willpower on our behalf.

Um, yeah. There are like a million other(and better) methods of stress relief that you can use when life is riding your ass. Opening a pack of cigs and puffing away sounds like an easy one, so I'd imagine that's why it's so popular.

it's a terrible, terrible, expensive, disgusting habit; I've quit twice in the past but regrettably started up again both times . . . for different reasons, or excuses I guess I should say, but I plan to quit again soon . . .

anyway, it's time for a smoke break :(

I smoke, and would like to quit, but my head isn't really with it right now so it's pointless to try.
It's a pretty disgusting habit I'll admit, but I'll also say that for many smokers out there the more you harp on them about it, the less likely they will listen to you, or care what you have to say about the matter.

This is true. Which is why I wish a lot of people would preach to smokers less and let 'em do their thing as long as we don't have to breath it in. I gave up that fight a long time ago, it's futile. And anyway, why should us non-smokers waste time trying to save smokers' lives if they don't even care enough about it to stop?

If there's any 'but' after 'I can quit when I want' then you're contradicting yourself.

I hate people at least 78% more than your average person and I don't drink or smoke or anything else to 'cope.'

Bless you :D

Exactly, its the fast food of stress relief. Other things like going to the gym, having sex, etc requires more effort and planning... and aren't very realistic when at work and want to step out from the craziness.

I like that

Who has time to go home and cook a healthy meal when McDonald's is on the way home from work!

At 46,(just about) I have never even tried cigarettes.Too many in my family have died to it's complications

I don't smoke.... and will not start smoking.

I'm glad my husband doesn't smoke either....

Sometimes it is better to opt for the easy relief to counter difficult situations.
