So Brother Voodoo becomes the new Sorcerer Supreme!

Captain America's return would logically be a big turning point in Dark Reign, since he's the one hero that could ostensibly pull the public out of its collective stupidity and make them remember that Osborn's a murderous psychopath, but it seems like it might be a bit soon. He'll be back in, what, another 4 or 5 months? Dark Reign seems like it could run longer than that.

Cap:"You guys appointed the Green Goblin to be in charge????"
President:"I was waiting for Congress to say something."
Congress:"We were waiting for the House to say something."
House of Rep:"We were waiting on Shield to say something."
Fury:"You put him in charge of Shield."
House of Rep:"Oh yeah. but still he could have warned us."
Cap:"Im going to the Arctic circle..someone thaw me when stupidity is cured."

Brother Voodoo doesn't qualify for the position of Sorcerer Supreme because he isn't even a sorcerer. A sorcerer is someone who manipulates three sources of power: personal powers of the mind/body/soul, ambient magical energies and extradimensional sources of power. BV wields only a limited form of extradimensional power. The obvious choice for Sorcerer Supreme is Jennifer Kale.

I'm NOT certain what are the criteria for the role of Sorcerer Supreme-any more than I am for who gets to wear the armor of the Crimson Dynamo( as Darkstar tells Iron Man in IM#109, only the most valorous individuals are chosen by the State to do so), but at the very least there some agreed views- firstly it's not meant to be a lifetime position( even allowing for the fact that time tends not to flow in the MU as it does in real life, Dr Strange has held the position since he first appeared in Strange Tales WAAY back in the 1960s; he's earned an honourable retirement), secondly the new SS must be not only human (which excludes Dormammu) but clearly committed to the cause of good(which excludes Baron Mordo and Dr.Doom), so by a process of elimination, as there are few mystic heroes in the MU, comes down to either one of the following: Brother Voodoo, Wiccan, the sorceress Topaz( one presumes that gender is as irrelevant as is race/skin colour), the exorcist Gabriel, or the Omega Flight member Shaman.

Neither good nor humanity is required to be a Sorcerer Supreme. An evil alien once took the title from Strange. Shaman is also not qualified since he is as his name states a Shaman and not a sorcerer. Shamans are a lesser form of magic wielder. Strange, upon encountering Shaman displayed a certain disdain for the magic skills that Shaman displayed so they seem to be looked down upon by true sorcerers.

Jennifer Kale would've been a cool Sorcerer Supreme. She's got a lot of ties to the world of magic. Or, going off of Mystic Arcana, Ian McNee could've been a good, roguish Sorcerer Supreme. Brother Voodoo just strikes me as incredibly bland in the role.

I thought Strange only became Sorcerer Supreme after the Ancient One died (or passed on to a higher plane of existence, or whatever). IMO Wiccan doesn't have enough experience to be Sorcerer Supreme.

Brother Voodoo being the new SS makes no sense for at least 1 main reason:

The sorcerer supreme is supposed to be the most powerful sorcerer (hence sorcerer SUPREME) by definition.

After Civil War (so just a couple months ago Marvel time) it was shown in Avengers that Strange still clearly out-powered BV (Strange was hiding the whole avengers team in plain sight by magic and BV was right there with all the time in the world and couldn't detect them.

So, even just a couple months ago Strange was shown as clearly being more powerful than BV. If "Sorcerer Supreme" doesn't mean that one is the most powerful sorcerer then the title makes no sense.

How about, "pretty important sorcerer, but who can get schooled by a pretty amount of other sorcerers out there".

Or how about:

"Yet another c-list character that Bendis feels like giving attention to for no particular reason".

Nail on head.
