i really don't understand why people would want to change their names? if you didn't want numbers in your name in the first place why put them there??

Well, by being around for a while, showing you're not a complete *******, so on and so forth. Like getting out of jail early for good behavior or something. Nothing huge, just not hand them out to every random user.
