So Howling Commandos and Blade....

another problem I have with Blade is they cant seem to decide what version of the character they want to use...he's part vampire, which the comic version of Blade NEVER was before, but he's not the movie version...

They've retaconned, he is part vampire, which means they have decided. Really it's fairly simple they're creating a new version of blade with bits from the movies and comics.

it still bothers me...that changes 20 years of history for no real reason other than "the movies did it!"...if they made him a half vampire somehow recently, not retconning every single blade story ever to him now having been half-vamp during it, that would be fine...but it seems lazy to me to just say "no, always half vampire, la la la, cant hear you, la la la"

I do take your point, but it's easier (and frankly makes better story telling) to simply hit the ground running with bottom tier characters like this rather than mire about sorting out continuity issues.

Blade is a character that lives in a fast action comic book style, taking a few issues out at the start of the series to sort out his powers would a) delay what people expect from the book and b) is not really required given the small numbers of actual comic book blade fans and c) needlessly complicates his backstory (which isn't really important to be honest)

The needs of the (relative) many out weigh the needs of the few as it were.

Anyone who actually spent money to buy issues of Howling Commandos is pretty sorry. Marvel tried to warn everyone that it was bad by filling the back of their comics with preview pages. Those pages were filled with some of the worst art I've ever seen, and the story was obviously that of a Saturday morning cartoon.

Why would you ignore the warnings and buy it anyway?
