I want to see Peter Parker done right. But, I'd like to see Peter and Miles have a fun and great friendship, like Tony and Rhodey do.

Let's take Shane Black to direct so he could reuse one of his, well the only script he ever wrote once again.:halo:

I like the idea of having both of them. Introduce Peter Parker first then introduce Miles a couple movies afterwards.

I like Miles Morales. He's a great character. But a big part of this triumphant homecoming is that Peter Parker can finally be part of the Marvel Universe. Let him be Spider-Man. And include Miles Morales in the cast as a supporting character to maybe set the stage for him getting Spider-powers down the line.

I mean they can always cast Peter Parker as a young black Male. They may not even want to do Miles if the do that. Parker has a better story arc anyways.

I like the idea of a second black male Spider-man that fights along side the original spider-man. Though I'm not sure if they'll do the Peter Parker death scene/Peter Parker random resurrection. Will they do the Two Spider-men vs Norman Osborn battle? But they need to expand on his story more. But if no one wants Miles then changing the race of Parker is always an idea.

What is with these Miles Morales threads? Since when would this Ultimate Spider-Man replacement be a serious contender for the movie Spider-Man? Peter Parker is the fan favorite everyone knows and loves. Might as well ask if Ben Reilly should be Spider-Man.

At least they tried. I mean I have faith in Marvel. I think they can take his character and make him a lot better.

How's this for a pitch: After a lengthy battle with the Goblin, Peter winds up missing and with amnesia for sometime. Thus Miles gets his spider bite and assumes the mantle before encountering Peter with 0 memory of who he is until something big goes down. A alternate most satisfactory than going the death route

NO racebending Peter! Last time I checked, Kevin Feige's in charge of Marvel Studios not Greg Berlanti

Marvel didn't do this deal to use some third-rate knockoff as Spider-Man. Spider-Man IS Peter Parker, period.

This.

Miles when introduced will be in addition to Parker if anything.

When non comic readers found out he was ethnic.

Im not trying to start anything, but the only arguments on why pick Morales over Parker is because of his race. And then that we've had 5 Parker Spider-Man films...which I just dont get that logic.

Include Miles for sure. Pass the torch down the line, maybe.

Peter Parker is the Spider-Man.
Let Miles be one of his classmates.

With all the bad influences affecting black youth I think it is time to have a Spider-man that looks like them. "Hey you can be a hero too just like Spider-man!" I mean I think that is the idea behind Miles Morales as he became the next Spider-man after Peter.

I mean there aren't many other black heroes too look up too.. right now there is only Falcon, War Machine and Nick furry, and soon to be Human Torch. But those were all recent and none of them are the main star. Before it was just Blade.. That is why I hope they do Miles as the lead after Peter.

I dont think race matters that much in that regard. Black kids still dress up as Superman, Spider-Man, whoever. I dont think they don't look up to which ever hero because theyre not black. I hate that notion that someone can't look up to someone because their race is different or you dont look like him.

And there bad influence of kids of every race does that mean that we should worry about whites or Asians in the NBA or whatever organization.

Having a black Spider-Man, Human TOrch, or whoever isnt going make race relations or anything doing with race, other than diversity, any better or any worse.

I dunno. For me I grew up watching shows like Cosby, Family Matters, Brother & me (Nickelodeon), Kennan and Kel and Static Shock. For me it was just a different happy and fuzzy feeling. I can't really explain it. I liked shows with lead black heroes to look up too - even though they weren't super powered, just father figure heroes. Static Shock was the only one I could remember that was a superhero.

I mean I am happy we finally got Falcon and War-machine. I think Cyborg and Black Panther are coming out soon too. And If they do Jon Stewart's Green lantern and Mile Morales' Spider-man that would be the icing on the cake for me. And if they do Static Shock that would be the cherry on top. lol. :oldrazz:

I agree. I looked up to and related to Peter Parker more than arguably any other Superhero growing up, so I never needed Spider-Man or Batman or any of them to be my skin color. What they stood up for is what mattered to me.

Exactly.

On another note: I really hate the whole thing about reliability. People say Superman is bad because he's not relatable (a fact that I think isnt true but that's for another thread) and 2nd how many people can really relate to Batman or Wolverine and yet theyre still 2 of the most popular heroes.
The whole "_____ isnt good because he/she is relatable/I can't relate to it" is silly to me.

...I thought it was confirmed it is gonna be Peter?

News to me.

I never expected it to be Miles though, but good to get confirmation it that's true.

Don't forget Luke Cage. Blade's gonna be back eventually too. I personally think the bigger issue now is getting other minorities involved. There are no Asian and Hispanic male characters or Black and Hispanic Female ones in the MCU. I assume Misty Knight will show up on TV but there is not much out there. Maybe White TIger?

Getting Kamala out there would be great. But that's down the line.

Hollywood in general too.

Chris Rock said in an article, and Im paraphrasing, "Yeah blacks have it bad in Hollywood, but look at Hispanics/Spanish actors."

Asian actors have it bad too. I can't think of the last non martial arts movie where a Chinese, JApanese, Korean, etc. actor was the lead role. Im probably just blanking though

I'm not 100% on that, I was asking. I thought one of the first practical questions that cropped up after the reveal was the possibility of the new spidey being miles morales, and that that idea was shot down by either disney or sony saying it is still going to be peter parker.

ahh... remember the thread I tried getting everyone to understand what you just said? seems like we agree on more than a few things, blackman.

Yeah, because Greg Berlanti totally had a hand in casting Nick Fury and Heimdall. :whatever:

Yeah, Han in the Fast and Furious films is the closest I can come up with at the moment. That series is probably the most diverse out there.

Guess that's still supporting and not lead even in Drift though.

There was actually an article a while back when Fast Five came out saying how the success proves that race doesnt matter that much in terms of movies.

Youre right it does have a very diverse cast. I think Paul Walker is/was the only "clear cut white guy" in the main cast of heroes. Everyone else was mixed or full on another race.

It's also a very hip hop/reggaeton infused film series.

And yet the last 2, and Im assuming 3 were huge successes.

Not even a fair comparison. Peter Parker is white and should be in any movie version in which he is played. I would have no problem with Miles being a side kick and maybe future Spidey.
