So who will run for President in 2008?

Matt said:
Actually...

Independants/Third Parties...

Ralph Nader - Yea...obviously.

Jesse Ventura - I actually see it happening, I can't say why, but I do.

Ross Perot (that's right) - I see him running again in '08...Bush has pissed off a lot of fiscal conservatives with his reckless spending, I was half expecting Perot to jump in this time...but I think if Bush's spending doesn't stop, we will see Perot run in '08

Nader won't run again.

The Green Party, Constitution, Socialist, and Libertarian will all run.

I'm happy with David Cobb as my future party's candidate.

Nader won't run again.

I think Hillary would have a better chance running with someone else like Edwards as his VP and then run for President after her term as VP.

Defenders, you seem to be the local expert on third parties so you also see Perot running again, or is it just my twisted imagination?

what about Richardson. He is a great man, he would make a marvelous president.
I can see his campaign slogan now... "Who did Kim Jjong Il trust to moderate nuclear talks with the USA? Bill Richardson. Vote Richardson, even the enemy trusts him..."

I don't think Hilary will settle for VP. She could've had it this election, if she ran with Kerry, she would've put him over the top.

Obama is stuck in the 1960's. Did you see his speech at the DNC? It wasnt about the war on terror or any of todays issues, it was about Civil Rights, as if Black people are in the same situation they were in 40 years ago. GROW UP DEMOCRATS, the civil rights movement is over. Schools are no longer segregated. Blacks have the same rights as whites.

Democrats need to grow out of the 1960's, and enter the 21st century.
There is still a lot of separation and racism in this country, as sad as that sounds, it's true. And I think Obama is honest when he says "we need to erase the stereotype that says a black youth reading a book is acting white." Those are very true words.

as for the ticket in 2008, I'll say edwards as prez, obama as vp.

I think she'll chose Edwards for the same reason KErry did, public demand. PEople like the guy. Plus she is a northern yankee, so it will help to balance out the ticket.

I don't know. Hillary is such a savvy politician that I think she'll choose someone new that will seem to compliment her more. I think Edwards just sounded like Kerry's lapdog during the campaign

Hmm. Possibly. You are correct in saying that fiscal conservatives are angry at Bush. But the Reform people have Ventura and Buchanan. So who knows. The Constitution Party is very conservative. I'm not really sure.

Its racism you cant do anything about unless you infringe on someones constitutional rights. Whats the government gonna do now? Force you to think a certain way? Sorry but that isnt gonna happen.

I dont know if you know this... but people have the right to be racist.

Wow. Your level of ignorance just shot through the roof.

education is a wonderful thing, and education can help erase racism.

Education or brainwashing? Is it the governments job to brainwash you into thinking a certain way?

I think it's important that we all realize that fred is in no way reflective of "all republicans" a "majority of conservatives" or any other generalization. Fred is just as bad as coulter or moore.

GOP:

Bill Frist
Bill Owens
Rudy Guiliani
John McCain
Tommy Franks
Rick Santorum
Mitt Romney
Colin Powell

Frist- He's running. He's a saint, traveling to Africa every year to give free medical care. Southern. But I don't get the vibe.

Owens- Beloved in Colorado, but he has an odd look, and I think he's short. I don't get the vibe.

Rudy G- Hero of 9/11, tough on crime, proven commodity. Liberal on social issues...too liberal? I get the vibe.

John McCain- Wolf in sheeps clothing. people think he's moderate, when hes very conservative. War hero. Western. Definitly get the vibe.

Tommy Franks- The brains behind the stunning success of the Iraq War (the initial part of it). Very well educated, recognized, and well spoken. Comes from Texas. Big time vibe.

Rick Santorum- Social and fiscal conservative from Pennsylvania. Young, and opinionated...maybe too opinionated. May have problems carrying his own state in the general. Don't get the vibe.

Mitt Romney- Massachusetts Republican. Mormon. I don't think the country is ready for a Mormon President. Don't get the vibe.

Colin Powell- The dark horse. Always denies running. Might decide after another 4 years that to fix problems in government he might have to do it himself. Slight vibe.

Prediction: McCain/Giuliani

Dark Horse Prediction: Franks/Santorum

Edit:

I forgot Chuck Hagle, the Senator from Nebraska. He's a moderate conservative, from a midwest state. Tough talker, war hero. No vibe for President, but could easily see him on the bottom end of both a Franks and McCain ticket.

Well you seem to be a level-headed person. A lot of people on this site though seem to think of fred as the stereotypical republican

I feel very sorry for you fred. You seem to have a pessimistic view on everything and I hope that you somehow are opened up to viewing other ideas and ideologies with an open mind.

Do you really believe the GOP will allow McCain to run? They seem to simply use him when he is convienent.

Don't you furthermore think it more realistic to assume Giuliani will be governor first.

I think McCain has the most respect out of democrats and I honestly don't think Giuliani will run next election(if he ever does) so I think that if the republicans feel McCain stands the most chance at being whoever the DNC nominates, he'll run

McCain is running Matt. It's way too early to prognosticate the electorate, but he's a real likeable guy. I see no one as of now that can deny him, other than Franks. So yeah, I think the GOP will let him give it a go. He IS a loyal Republican and a conservative.

Giuliani don't wanna be governor. Giuliani wants to be President.

McCain won't win the nomination for his party. I just feel that the conservative base doesn't feel he's far enough to the right.
