So, who's the new guy?

Indie comics and Big Two (or Three) comics are usually opposing poles of course. One is about narrative and change and the other is about cash in and perpetual status quo's. I can't imagine reading both and getting equal enjoyment. It's akin to people who are fans of both wrestling and Oscar worthy films. Do any exist?
So in your analogy, you're the one who likes the wrestling?:csad:

I like both and do fine by myself:o

In real life I don't actually care for wrestling, at least for the last 10-15 years.

With comics though, I don't see how the flaws of one area wouldn't effect enjoyment of the other. It's part of why I haven't delved into indie's more, I expect them to move me to start hating Big Two comics, especially in New York where there are Indie Snobs or Big Two ****es (me) with absolutely nothing and no one in-between. Maybe it's the scene of Manhattan, I guess. Tell the wrong person in a Village shop or BORDERS that you haven't read SCOTT PILGRIM, but completely enjoy AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE and they either give you a look of pity or disgust. I can understand the notion of seeing what an indie can do with comics as a narrative and then going back to reading Bendis have Daredevil talk to a toilet for 22 pages and call it art would be quite jarring.

It is worth noting that apparently my own opinions have proved to provide more discussion fodder than the almighty revelation of Hitman Monkey. :p

They really could have come up with a better name than Hitman Monkey couldn't they?
I mean. Really. He's a hitman, and a monkey... Let's call him Hitman Monkey.

I didn't even know there were enough comic book readers to have a scene:o

Whatever, I can easily enjoy both. My enjoyment of the Wire doesn't affect my enjoyment of Lost. Diversity is a win for everyone. Plus, a lot of mainstream writers came from indie comics, Bendis included (meaning they'd probably enjoy Bendis' DD). In fact, I think most of Marvel's main writers are from indie-backgrounds. So if someone's hating on another person for enjoying mainstream comics, written by the same writers they seem to enjoy, they can go to hell.

I don't care about Deadpool, so I won't be reading this story. Although, I did enjoy the last issue of Amazing Spider-Man with him. Still, there's way too many Deadpool comics for me to know which one to try out.

There are in Grenwich Village in Manhattan, or in Manhattan in general. I mean, Marvel has an office here. At least in theory. I barely talk to anyone, but when I visit I see it. I'm more the "Mysterious Loner" type.

To an Indie Snob, any indie writer who moves to DC or Marvel has "sold out" and is usually the subject of, "oh, why are they now writing corporate crap" style jokes. The fact that any one of those snobs would easily "sell out" just as well if some company was willing to pay them a few grand per fan fic doesn't seem to faze them.

DEADPOOL TEAM-UP #899 was pretty good.

Well, getting a movie and video game adaptation seems like selling out, so you can always point that out to the Scott Pilgrim folks. But then I guess they'l start hating that when they come out.

I suppose I can understand what you are saying. Some of the people in the LA comic shops I've been to seem way too cool to be in a comic shop. I always trust the guy with the unkempt beard and out-of-style jacket (even though it's way too hot to be wearing a jacket, he's probably trying to hide his fat)

Well, he did say he only "sees" it, meaning his ideas about these people stem from his own stereotypes about them and not actually knowing what they'd say if you told them you read Avengers: The Initiative. Me, I just generally like feeling like I'm the most attractive person in a comic shop:up:

Why does the thing under my name say Side Kick? I'm pretty sure it used to say Carwash C*nt:huh:
