So...why the hate for INFINITE CRISIS??

DC is not all bad at the moment.

Some of what they are producing is rubbish but they do have a few good characters and series

I haven't read Marvel in years, just doesn't interest me. Truthfully I was always a lot more into DC. However with that said DC has f'ed up a lot of things. What has happened to the Arrow family since Kevin Smith left that book years ago is one.

The muck up with The Flash book these past few years was nothing to sneeze at either. Though now it's FINALLY beginning to turn around. The Outsiders is going down the crapper now with DiDio writing. Simone on WW has been pretty lame and that is finally probably going to be rectified.

With all that said I still buy the likes of Warlord, R.E.B.E.L.S., Secret Six, Booster Gold Jonah Hex, Power Girl & now as of issue 1 Zatanna every month. However these are the books that most people who now loathe DC tend to overlook so I guess it's irrelevant to mention them to people that don't even acknowledge their existence.

This in addition to a great bulk of the Bats books (Red Robin, Batgirl & now Azrael being exceptions). All the Supes related titles, JSA, the GL books the new Flash and the best JL story in years Generation Lost are keeping me entertained every month. This is not even including the stuff I read from DC imprints. So I can't agree that DC is "oh so awful!" now a days, it's seen much darker periods in quality as someone who's read DC for over 20 yrs I could safely say that. By the same token overall quality could be better like the JL and Titans franchises have been completely directionless for going on 6 years now for example.

Ugh, I already regret this, but...Yeah, herf derf, all those old dead writers, they sure don't matter, I sure do enjoy all these new extreme bookses 'cause all those old dull books are dull, oh boy I love thinking old stuff doesn't matter, hyuk hyuk...

For ****'s sake, no one has said that.

And oh, way to be objective. "People who don't think like me are just blindly following DC and just don't think for themselves." I hate DC right now, capital H, and let me assure you that -- having now been on both sides of the fence -- not being able to stand your posts has very little to do with enjoying DC or not.

DC is as good now as they've ever been Post-Crisis to me. Some stuff I like, some I find crap. And most people who automatically disregard older stuff end up displaying a lot of ignorance about it. Like people who think every Silver Age story featured Superman moving planets and Jimmy Olsen getting turned into a turtle boy.

Kurosawa, speaking as someone who probably agrees with like 90% of what you're saying here, please, please, please stop using the word purist. Just, stop, and don't start ever again.

What other quick easy designation fits my views best? Old-school? I know it gets repetitive but a 6 letter word is better than a lot of longwinded "good ol days" crap that just draws a tl;dr reaction.

I was being honest when i said what i said.

Seemed sarcastic but you can never tell from what a person types.

Whichever one you've never used and, subsequent to this, continue to never, ever use.

Like basically what I am saying here is every time you write a post, find any spot where you've used the word purist, delete that word, and then if you should feel inclined to write some other word in that spot, don't.

I love Secret Six, Power Girl and Zatanna as well

Those are three of my favourite comics right now:awesome:

But Zatanna has only been around for one issue and Palmiotti, Gray, and Conner are leaving Power Girl :(

REBELS will live on. Bedard's writing GLC now, too, and he's already mentioned that he wants to do some crossover stuff. Two new GLs were just assigned to the newly liberated Vega system after Starro's defeat, but I'm hoping Kyle or John or even Ganthet might show up at some point. I'd love to see what Ganthet would make of Vril. :hehe:

Zatanna only took one issue to convince me

And the new writer might be good on Power Girl. I will give them a chance

Well, regardless I'll say what I think about anything. And what I think about Infinite Crisis is that Kal-L was written completely out of character by a hack that doesn't understand Superman at all. No version of Superman unless it's Ultraman would ever advocate the deaths of billions just to bring back his old world or to save his wife or for any other reason. Plus Lois was written as being 2,989,737,391 years old when it was clearly shown in All-Star Squadron Annual #3 that she was irradiated by the Ian Karkull energy and should therefore be no older physically than her 50's. They depicted Kal-L's HQ as the Earth-One Superman's Fortress of Solitude, had Perry White as his boss, and drew the Daily Star building wrong. You'd think they could take 30 minutes to look through some online entries and some Mr and Mrs Superman stories from Superman Family and at least get the details right.

Kal-L coming to the Post-Crisis Earth to give them a lecture and a demonstration about being a true hero is one thing; making him anything but by helping Alexander Luthor (who shouldn't be evil) destroy that world is garbage and just shows that Johns doesn't understand the characters he is writing.

Kal-L came to regret what was going on. He thought that he was going to restore heroism in the post-Crisis Earth, he didn't know the full extent of what Alexander Luthor was doing.

He knew that the DC Earth would be replaced, which would mean the people on it would all be killed.

He didn't want to replace it, he just wanted to restore the multiverse which included his home Earth-2. He didn't want the people of the DC Universe to get killed in the process.

From Infinite Crisis #3:

Batgod: "What happens to everyone on this Earth when yours comes back?"

Fake Kal-L: "They'll be folded into it's historical fabric."

Batgod: "You mean they'll die."

Fake Kal-L: "No, they'll be replaced, just as everyone on my Earth was."

Total ********. Not only would they all die, they would all have their existence erased from history, which is perhaps an even worse fate. Superman would never condone this. Never. He comes off like a bitter prick who is upset because his world was erased. He sounds like Superboy-Prime or like people think fans like me sound...even though I wouldn't take the Post-Crisis or the Post-Infinite Crisis worlds or their characters from the fans of those characters if it was up to me. Two wrongs don't make a right an a great hero like Kal-L should know that and live by it.

This exchange bothered me quite a bit as well.

Superman would never agree to erasing billions from existence.

I wouldn't consider replacing to be killing or erasing. Those people would still exist in a different fashion. Instead of the Post-COIE versions, they would be the Earth-2 versions.

Alexander Luthor on the other hand was killing billions by picking up universes and simply discarding them.

Batgod would disagree and I'm actually with him on this one.

If they were altered into different versions of themselves, everything they once were would be erased.

That is a fate far worse than death.

Eh, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't notice the change. :o

I think Infinite Crisis was one of the best thing's that happened to the DC universe. It got me into Dc comics again. I think the main 3 being ***** to each other was something that had been brewing for years. I also love Superboy Prime. I think he brought an interesting element to villany.

You poor damn fool.

I hated it because SBP was a personal insult to purist fans like me, because of the numerous pathetic continuity issues, and because Kal-L was written terribly out of character. And it was (yet another) plot weak Geoff Johns Mortal Kombat 13 year old boy idiotic killfest.
Superboy-Prime = Didio (& Johns')'s inner bastard child.

Because it was bloated, unnecessary, badly characterized, premised largely on the big 3 characters being ***** to each other, other characters and the world in general for no real reason, gave a completely gratuitous **** you to the ending of the original Crisis, introduced the worst character of the decade, retroactively introduced the second worst character of the decade, carried out the stupidest, most halfassed and nonsensical continuity pseudo-reboot in any any comic ever written including the one where Mark Waid came up with Hypertime, steamrolled individual books' much better and more interesting plotlines, alternated between badly and blandly characterized, and was generally filled with idiotic repercussions, failed payoffs, and an enormous share of What the **** is this Bull**** moments.
Well said! :awesome:

I agree wholeheartedly with both this post and your decision to not use puri that word anywhere in it.

?

So wait, how does this work, given that K-Lawl himself is a separate being from New Earth Superman, who only existed cause he went off to Super-Valhalla when the rest of his world ceased to exist, and when you have people like Powergirl, who canonically is the Earth-2 Supergirl existing completely independently of Kara Zor-El?
